  • Я и подумать не могла, что этот день будет настолько особенный!
Родители, находясь в Москве, прислали цветы и поздравления. Муж ночью развесил шарики по квартире...☺️

Именовать таким сюрпризным и должен быть День Рождения 🎁

  • When I got home today it was raining. A lot. I texted my boyfriend (@joaofarinhafoto) saying “I’ll be home in a minute. I’m stuck in my car waiting for the rain to stop.” He said “okay”. Next thing I know, he’s knocking on my window with an umbrella to take me home 🙈

.
We have been working very hard quietly in the background. Talk From the Block has always been about the community and living life in the real world. Taking a step back from the digital and immersing yourself in all that the City has to offer. That continues to be at the heart of everything we do! 🙌
.
Blixr retains the same purpose and uses technology the way it was intended - to help connect people but build those relationships over real world experiences. 👌
.
We are very excited and we hope you are too! Look out for exciting updates to come! In the meantime we continue with giving you quality content to help with your London explorations and fun 😘

  • Looking across the Thames at the old Lots Road Power Station in Chelsea. Built 1901-5, and was the largest power station ever built. It was, quite likely, the first steel-frame building built in the British Isles, and supplied power to the London Underground will into the 1960s.
Since bring decommissioned, it had feel into a rather derelict state of decay; it is now being redeveloped into a tower of apartments. Sat to the right of the photo you can see the old Chelsea Wharf building.
The photo I uploaded a couple of weeks ago of the multiple bird houses in what would have been the old 17th/18th century Cremerone pleasure gardens, is located also just to the right of the old power station.
Photos taken late yesterday afternoon.

  • Old & New. Beautiful wisteria over very old gravestones in the churchyard of St. Mary's Church, Battersea.
I've passed by here several times when walking the Thames path but stopped to take these photos early yesterday evening and have read up on the place a bit. There has been a religious site here since 800 AD, with the present church completed in 1777. It is Grade I listed, and is of note for being the church where artist and poet William Blake got married in 1782, where Britain'sOld & New. The church itself (which I neglected to get a decent shot of!!) is Grade I listed, and is of note for being the church where artist and poet William Blake got married in 1782, where Britain's most famous landscape painter J.M.W. Turner painted the Thames from the vestry window, and for having infamous American military officer Benedict Arnold buried here.
I am not particularly religious (more spiritual and in touch with the land, in the more traditional pagan type way), but I do find old churches fascinating as historical documents.

👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁 The London Eye (2000) is a cantilevered observation wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. It is Europe's tallest (135 m) cantilevered observation wheel, is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom with over 3.75 million visitors annually,  and has made many appearances in popular culture.

A predecessor to the London Eye, the Great Wheel, was built for the Empire of India Exhibition at Earls Court and opened to the public on 17 July 1895.

The rim of the Eye is supported by tensioned steel cables and resembles a huge spoked bicycle wheel. The lighting was redone with LED lighting from Color Kinetics in December 2006 to allow digital control of the lights as opposed to the manual replacement of gels over fluorescent tubes. 👁The Eye has done for London what the Eiffel Tower did for Paris, which is to give it a symbol and to let people climb above the city and look back down on it.
