“The tea house we stayed at was run by a couple who rented the place from the government. She has guests through out the year. There was a little girl of about 12 years helping around at the tea house. When asked she said she doesn’t want to go back to her family but would rather stay at the tea house. It’s heart breaking to see it, but I felt much respect for the woman since she has taken this little girl under her wings even though she doesn’t have much to give.” @fathimathaunty
Australians and Greeks have forged a close bond since fighting along side each other in the Battle of Crete in 1941. It was one of the most infamous battles of WW2 with many lives lost following the dramatic paratrooper invasion by the Nazis. It was also the first since Galliopi that the ANZAC alliance was restablished, with Aussies and Kiwis joining forces along with the Brits. Visiting the Allied war cemetery in Souda Bay, it was hard not to be moved when you see the graves of 18-year-old Aussie soldiers. #AnzacDay#lestweforget#Crete#ww2#battleofcrete#Greece#LPinGreece#LPinCrete#Lonelyplanet
Imagine no vibrant color existed,
Whatever we saw, was either black or white.
Just like videography centuries back,
When everything seemed to be dark and pale, on screen
Only this time it gets real.
What our eyes have the pleasure to perceive,
Isn’t a blessing to be taken for granted.
It is an element demanding gratitude and a sense of responsibility,
To nurture the beauty before it becomes a bygone.
Ruins of Shettihalli Church, Hassan. Built in the 1860s by the French missionaries in India, the church is a magnificent structure of Gothic Architecture. After the construction of Hemavati Dam and Reservoir in 1960 the church was abandoned. It has since then become a famous tourist spot where people flock to see the half submerged church during monsoon.
This is my first time lapse video on GoPro, more to come!
