Gardening Tips To Help Bees Select plants high in nectar & pollen
Both nectar and pollen are vital for bees. Select plants which are high in nectar, pollen or both. Highly cultivated, ornamental plants such as begonias, are often of very limited value. One sign of hihgly cultivated flowers is that they have many, many petals, where as simple, open flowers are often more attractive for bees – take a look at these roses, which are a magnet for bees in comparison with heavily cultivated types.
Honey Bee happy Farms!
I’ve assembled my first Langstroth beehive boxes and frames! Even though it is mid January, I’ve decided to be prepared for my first season of beekeeping and plan on using the honey I collect in granola bars. Any advice or tips for a new beekeeper?
Almost everyone I talk to lately is suffering from a terrible cold so I thought I'd share some natural remedies that can help prevent colds and/or speed up the healing process.
First of all get some Garlic and Ginger into your system as soon as you feel a cold coming on.
Chop them up, fry them in olive oil or coconut oil and sprinkle them over veggies or soups. Grate Ginger and add it to your smoothie or tea. Eat a Garlic clove whole or roast a bunch of garlic cloves in the oven and eat them all.
Ginger boosts immunity, kills bacteria, reduces inflammation, relieves nausea. Garlic is loaded with stuff like vitamins B6 & C and manganese which boosts the immune system, can kick the common cold and reduce toxins.
I also swear by Lemon, Honey Tea to soothe a cold once you've caught it - sometimes I use actual Tea (green tea or ginger tea usually ) sometimes I just use boiling water same goes with the ginger if I have some on hand Ill add some fresh if not I skip it. Raw honey has natural antiseptic properties and can soothe a sore throat.
So bottom line, you need Garlic, Ginger, Lemon and Honey to get through these tough chilly months plagued with illness!
