"Love is being lovingly honest and humbly approachable in times of misunderstanding."
— 24 Things Love Is and Love Does by Paul Tripp
5 of 24 ——————— I need His grace to love not like the world.
I need His grace to love even when the conditions aren't convenient for me to do so.
I need His grace to spill love when I am hurt and wronged.
I need His grace to love when all I want to do is lash out.
I need His grace to have a heart like His—unconditional, unrelenting, slow to anger and abounding in love.
Happy Earth Day everybody.
Climate change stopped being an issue of debate and speculation for me a while ago. These are a few incredible women in Haiti I met last summer and they’re among the people most badly affected by unpredictable weather patterns, soil degradation, drought, deforestation, hurricanes, and all those other related issues.
They’re also some of our planet’s capable defenders. By doing things like promoting the use of organic fertilizers like they’re making here to planting dozens and dozens of trees each year, they can reduce about half the amount of carbon that an American individual puts out each year.
If you want to go beyond just Earth Day sentiments and help get involved, check out @plantwpurpose’s most recent post and website. A matching campaign for Earth Week has the potential to throw the effects of climate change in reverse in a community like Fonds Verrettes!

As a person of faith, I have at times been amazed at how easily uncertainty can take my peace and leave me in a tailspin if I’m not careful.
Lately, I have been wondering why?
For me, it usually has to do with the fact that I’m focused on the wind and the waves rather than the One who can calm them with a word.
In the words of Beth Moore, “For the most part we’ve dumbed down New Testament Christianity and accepted our reality as theology rather than Biblical theology as our reality. We’ve reversed the standard, walking by sight and not by faith. We want to be the best of what we see, but frankly what we see is far removed from God’s best.”
May our faith be bigger than our fears, my friends.
All of our circumstances are in God’s capable hands.

“Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind!” - Psalm 31:19
Consider two important truths of this passage: the goodness of the Lord and the fear of the Lord. Meditate and pray over them. @ascendwood

** Swipe Left** —> Hats off to those who have the super model strut. 🤣 I tried… lol
But seriously, what a sweet night at #alterdstate benefitting Compassion That Compels for Missional Monday! All of the women who walked were overcomers. breast cancer, ovarian cancer, thyroid cancer…. . ….and you know what was magical? Seeing these women FEEL beautiful. Their confidence was radiant. Each one had a mini-makeover and the entire store cheered for them as they walked the “catwalk”. .
I think that’s what makes people like Kristianne so special. She cheers for women. Every item in a compassion bag is prayed over with love — knowing that it will bring comfort and the love of Christ to a woman battling cancer who feels alone and scared. .
Compassion compels us to lean in and love. And love doesn’t just talk about stuff. Love DOES stuff….like providing makeovers for warriors so that they can be center stage of a fashion show. .
Just precious. .
10% of all proceeds at the Frisco Alter’d state store during Mission Mondays will benefit this incredible organization. Permission granted to go shop with a purpose. 💕

Somehow we got onto the conversation of alarms tonight at dinner. One roommate mentioned my alarm and another asked what it was. It is the loudest bagpipe intro to a @rendcollective song, Every Giant Will Fall.
It is legit the only song that will wake me up. It goes off at a very high volume. And it goes off through my headphones so it doesn’t wake up my roommate.
Someone then mentioned how awful it would be to wake up at 4:30am like I do. I didn’t correct them. My alarm goes off at 3:20am.
Y’all. I LOVE my mornings. I get so much done before any human in the house wakes up. It all started with this book and it’s my favorite most productive part of my day.
How do you kick off your day?
I saw a friend of mine post on Facebook how disheartened she was by the evil and cruelty in the world. How helpless she felt to be able to effect any real change. How small she felt in the face of such overwhelming disregard for human life. It IS overwhelming when the news tells us of incomprehensible atrocities committed against Innocents. We can't change Every thing but we can change one thing- the way we treat each other. Don't dismiss your small acts of Love. They are bigger than you realize. Zech. 4:10 "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin. .."

Earth day. Its got me thinking of all the gorgeous and diverse places I've walked this last year. From Africa to Israel to Iceland.. I've been blessed. This earth is crazy, wild and untamed. But as much as I love the Earth, recycling, picking up trash and using metal straws, I love the people on this Earth more. I don't want sea turtles to be hurt, but I really don't want another child to go to bed hungry. I don't want air pollution, but I really don't want another human being to spend a single minute more in slavery of any kind. I don't want to see people using single-use plastics, but I really don't want another innocent baby to be thrown away. 🌍🌳👶🏼
Be a voice, not an echo. 🌍🌎🌏

Stop letting people convince you that working out is JUST about losing weight, fitting into jeans, or looking good in pictures.
Can we focus on HEALTH?? 🥗
Can we focus on SUSTAINABILITY?? 👊🏻
Can we focus on STRENGTH?? 💪🏻
Can we focus on POSITIVITY?? 🌞
THESE are what working out and taking care of your body is all about, the other stuff is just a byproduct of that.
It’s time we focus on being HEALTHY physically, mentally, and emotionally. ❤️ There’s sooooo much MORE to you than the number on the scale or your jean size. You are a MASTERPIECE and don’t let ANYONE make you feel any different! 💋
And leave the hardened hearts to God. As much as we desire to see those around us give their hearts to God, it is between them and Him.
All we can do is be the best examples we can be. We'll mess up at times, we're human just like everyone else, and that's ok. Everyone in the Bible (but Jesus) messed up and God used so many of them in mighty ways.
Don’t know who needs this tonight but in case it is you—friend, I want to remind you that it is okay to be in process. It is okay to not have all the answers. When God calls us to something, rarely does He perfectly outline the path to get there. The journey is just that—part of the journey. And there is such a beauty to not being able to see around every twist and turn. The road there is what grows us and shapes us for the result. And trust me, it is worth it.
I know that there are so many of you facing big decisions right now, and it feels scary because you don’t fully know the outcome. Maybe it is a move or a job or picking a major. Maybe it is a relationship or a dream or your hearts’ desire. But friend, God won’t ever lead you wrong. If there is something that He is calling you to, don’t discount it. It might just be the very best journey you could ever be put on. You might have to move forward on faith alone, but friend—that faith will see you through. It will be what guides you when you feel lost and uncertain if you’ve made the right choice. It will help your eyes to be opened along the way to all that God is doing. Yes, we can act on faith even in the big things, because we can trust our outcomes with Him. We don’t need to worry about having all the answers and have to wrestle with all the what-ifs, because our Lord already knows every step of the journey.
If you sense Him guiding you, take the leap. He will be there every single step of any road you ever walk! Enjoy the opportunities and circumstances that grow you up along the way. Those moments when we step out in faith, trusting Him with the answers and the outcomes, often turn out to be some of the best experiences of our lives, and are often the catalyst to witnessing His glory beyond measure. And no matter what and wherever the road may take us, we are safe in Him. Always. Take the leap, my friend. He’s got you.

I tend to complicate things. I think I need more journals, more time, more advice from others, more books, and so many other things that distract me from what really matters.
Really, I simply need more Jesus.
I need less of me trying to figure it out and find satisfaction in other things. I need more of His word, quiet time to listen to Him speak and give wisdom, and more reminders that the gospel is all I have and that’s all I need.
I was asked to take Reid’s senior photos and I am SO happy with how good they turned out- he’s a natural, especially when you hand him his guitar 👌
If you or anyone you know needs a photographer, send them my way!

“The one person that picked up the phone (to help me) was my friend, who I’d known since I was in high school, my friend Sean. And he had gotten saved about 10 years previous.
I remember when he got saved, initially feeling judgmental about that, because of not having any understanding of what that even really meant. But I also remember how different he was, how he was just not the same person at all. How he had gone from being not a good husband to a great husband, not a good father to a great father, not a great provider to a provider. And not to mention his demeanor, just like the love in his eyes and in his voice and his heart. Like he just, there was no remnant of the person that I knew before” – Todd
