I had such a fab time at this gorgeous event today! Such a cool concept, location, delish food and the models and catwalk - YASSS!
One thing I do want to address though after attending @meraki_cbr today is size diversity.
There was a range of truly beautiful, local models, however there wasn’t anyone walking above a size 10/12 AU which I was very disappointed to see.
I was really hoping to see a more size inclusive catwalk today. Often the industry talks about being diverse and inclusive regarding size but then can fall short in delivery.
I appreciate Canberra is small, but I feel there is no reason to not show a size inclusive range of models (and thus labels) when there is a great pool of talent available.
To combat you may say, well why not apply then? In answer, I did apply to model in this event, however was not chosen, which is totally cool. The reason given was due to the number of applications and not logistically being able to get all models ready in time if wearing a single look each. But I would have liked to see more size diversity within the models walking today. This is not to put down ANY of them AT ALL, they are all wonderful in their own right.
There were many garments I saw that I would love to wear, to then find the designers don’t cater for my size (which is about the average Australian woman’s size). I appreciate this is a multi-faceted complex issue and change takes time.
But change also starts with me.
I want to use my voice and experience to facilitate change in this.
I’ve walked in prior Canberra fashion events and want to see people my size and beyond represented in my capacity as not only a model but also a consumer.
All together it was a bloody cool event and I had a rad time! I also totally appreciate and get that organising an event of this scale is extremely hard work and I don’t wish for this to denigrate the fabulous show we were treated to. I’m so happy and proud to see and attend a locally made & produced show with a bunch of very driven, talented women at the helm. It was such a great afternoon, I just want to see more bigger bodies at the same time too. ❤️

Aging.. EVERYBODY’S doing it! Literally. My neck has been one of the first things to show my age.. & I get asked A LOT how old I am. What does it even matter I wonder? What does age really represent? I know here in the states ageism is a problem & it bums me out cuz in Native American culture the elders were held in the highest regard & called the “wisdom keepers.” I’m saddened by our obsession w youth & the need to look young forever cuz I find wrinkles to b incredibly honorable & beautiful .. & if we’re lucky enuff to have made it this far, then why not own the shit outta them .. bcuz many don’t even have the opportunity to age. Again, if u want to do things to look younger, no judgement here.. it’s more about changing the paradigm & our overall outlook of what aging means .. & to start honoring our elders again. Why not do a little something xtra today when you’re out & about & see an elder .. give them a smile, hold the door open a little xtra longer, tell them how good they look today .. I bet they don’t get nearly as many compliments as they used to. xxk

feel like a real adult today. did the weekly shop, bought some new tuppaware and wrote our names on the bottom in a sharpie, then sprayed half my belongings in my new gold spray paint to make crafty bits for the wedding (see my stories, i’m pretty proud 😇👰). i did however get so carried away i forgot to make dinner so ross and i are now sat here eating yoghurts for tea whilst we wait two hours for our food to cook. maybe not quite as adulty as i’d hoped but i’ll get there!

I don’t make a lot of money where I can show off my latest designer fashion or recap through photos from traveling the world. I don’t look like a super model and most days I don’t do anything super interesting. While those things seem to be what fuels this platform, I’m afraid by those standards I’m a sore disappointment.

Stretching was a part of my sport routine I avoided alot, because I had trouble accepting the current stiff me. I forced my stretches, because I wanted to become flexible NOW, not realsing that my body is a product of my past and only can be formed NOW. Accepting that helped me to stop the challenge and start enjoying. Usually I stretch 50-80% of my maximum. That's enough to loosen the muscles and fascia and is almost enjoyable. Svoris tampa didžiausias paauglės priešas. Tapo ir mano. Bet ne dėl to, kad jo buvo per daug, atvirkščiai svoris buvo gana mažas. Aplinkui visos merginos, draugės, klasiokės moteriškėjo. Na, o aš? Mano „apvalumai” labiau priminė berniuko, o ne mergaitės figūrą.
Tai buvo laikas, kuomet ypač svarbi aplinkinių žmonių nuomonė, o dar didesnis ir svarbesnis noras pritapti. Pamenu, mokykloje ne kartą sulaukdavau užgauliojimų, bendraklasių pašaipų: ,,Pas ją nieko nėra! Atrodo kaip lenta...tėvai jos nemaitina...". Bijojau eiti prie lentos, būti apkalbėta, sulaukti smerkiančių žvilgsnių. Vengdavau reikšti savo mintis. Taip mane lydėjo ne tik baimė, bet ir nepasitikėjimas savimi. O kur dar bemiegės naktys, ašaros... Vis bandžiau suprasti, kas su manimi ne taip.
Lyg viso to jaunai paauglei būtu negana, gyvenimą aplankė sunki liga. Atmintyje išliks diena, kai apsilankiusi dėl sveikatos pažymos, išgirdau gydytojo įtarinėjimus apie idiopatinę skoliozę. Tik vėliau sužinojau, kad tai stiprus ir progresuojantis stuburo iškrypimas, o operacija yra žūtbūt reikalinga. Liga privertė kęsti skausmus, daugybė nepatogių kūno padėčių nuolat vargindavo. Savo „iškrypusį” kūną teko dangstyti per dideliais rūbais, vengti aptemptų marškinėlių ar suknelių. Po operacijos liko randas, todėl ypač sunku buvo vasarą, kuomet prie jūros tekdavo rankšluosčiu slėpti ligos pažymėtą ir taip nemylimą kūną.
Nors stuburo operacija atlikta prieš keletą metų, tas randas visada primins man ilgą kelią, bandant save priimti, susidraugauti su savo kūnu bei iš naujo jį pamilti. Tačiau šį kelią aš praėjau ir galutinį tikslą pasiekiau. O tas tikslas - MEILĖ SAU.

I love coffee! The smell! The taste! The rush of perceived productivity after a strong cupola!
But unfortunately, it wasn’t doing me any good... Hi everyone, my names Toni and I’m sensitive to caffeine.
But what’s wrong with coffee, right? It’s just a beverage, it’s a social tool, it’s cheap and it’s everywhere... everybody seems to drink it so how could it be a problem?? I guess a big reason why I’m going way more in depth with this than I need to, is because maaaaybe there are other people out there who experience the same side effects from caffeine but didn’t know they were common, or that it is actually OK to say no to caffeinated beverages for the sake of your body.
When I drink a strong coffee (and I’m not about to scale the mountain or vigorously clean the entire house), I experience a “rush” very similar to any other stimulant drugs coming on. I can feel my heart pump harder and faster, sometimes I may get a lil’ sweat going, I kinda feel like my insides are trembling, and that I wanna RUN. That’s the first part.
Then after a couple of hours, on the comedown, I start to feel anxious... my stomach knots a bit... I feel worried for no reason... and again, I want to run.
And ironically, as coffee is usually used to enhance energy, I feel really tired, and empty.
On top of all this, I know what it’s doing to my adrenal glands, and I don’t want to keep saying sorry to my body while I keep doing things to it which I know don’t make me feel good.
So I’ve MADE THAT CHAAAANGE - to decaf. Now I drink decaf.
And it’s alright - apparently you still get the health benefits of coffee, but without the strung out, electrified-zombie feeling that accompanies the caffeinated stuff.
Don’t get me wrong! Coffee has a time and place for sure. And not everyone is as sensitive as me... it just happens to be that I don’t need it 🤷🏼♀️ I hope this extensive post has been of use to someone, anyone, and if nobody else it reaffirms to me why I’ve made this choice.

There is something truly “Incredible” and powerful about the color red. 💪🏻💥❤️
Mrs. Incredible always called to me, due to her exaggerated 🍐 shape. It’s been a lifelong struggle to love and embrace my “curves”, especially since the remainder of my frame is so small. Let’s not even get started on finding pants. 🤣😅 Today, however, I feel “Incredible” in my own skin and that alone makes me feel like a superhero. 🦸🏼♀️
