~BABY GOES ABROAD~
We are going to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for Auntie Allison’s birthday party. 🥳💃
Despite my fears and anxiety about flying with a 2.5 month old baby, this went perfectly and she slept, smiled, giggled and snuggled the whole time on the plane. Comment below if you have questions about traveling with babies - it is a huge research project and I’m happy to share! 👶🏼
QUEEN! My 2.5 month baby about to take a nap in the same heavenly suite her mom and dad spent their wedding weekend. 🥰🥰🥰 Heart is so full!

In Mexico with my little love. Having a baby is hardest thing I have ever done. Does everyone with kids feel that way? Its also the most satisfying - I am completely obsessed with my baby. To be honest, I was terrified to take her abroad but with a TON of planning and prep it has turned out magically. 🥰

Every now and again I like to share a little about who I am for those who may be new around here.
I give myself imaginary bonus points if I can surprise those of you who’ve been here a while!
So here’s today’s introduction, holiday style:
I’m a social media consultant in the travel industry, content creator, and total nerd when it comes to digital strategy.
This time of year you’ll find me sporting my signature red lipstick in a comfy knitted sweater and baking shortbread cookies like it’s going out of style.
I love having Michael Buble’s Christmas album on repeat and and there’s no better sight to see than houses shining with twinkle lights and Christmas trees in the windows.
I never say no to chocolate over the holidays and if I could, I’d probably eat my husband’s stuffing made from a “secret” family recipe allllllll year - it’s THAT good!
Thank you for being here! Now tell me how YOU holiday!

Our twelve days of Christmas may not include turtle doves, partridges in pear trees, or any lords-a-leaping - but, it will definitely include our top 12 destinations, locations, sights, sounds and experiences that we have loved the most over the last twelve months. ⠀
Join us as we countdown to Christmas! And be sure to let us know, what your favourite thing of 2019 was!
Too Dutch of a good thing ❤️🎄. First city on our Christmas tour had us feeling high. The city is glowing this time of year.
We also spent the afternoon outside of the city and it was a magical escape from all things touristy. Our experience at the flower auction, seeing a local violet farm, and making our own truffles at an amazing Dutch bakery was spectacular. Ask me about how to get away from the tourist spots, especially if you’re returning to a city for a second or third time and want a new lens.
Refined luxury in the Mamanucas.

Many European countries – and indeed countries around the world – celebrate Carnaval in some form, and Portugal is one of them. Taking place in February, while many destinations in Portugal have some sort of celebration, the Carnaval in Torres Vedras is considered to be the most typical and traditional of them all. One of the highlights of the Carnaval here is the parade of floats that make their way through the city center, featuring men in drag, decorative masks, and giant puppets. There is also a whole heap of interaction between the parade participants and spectators in the form of throwing ‘cocotes’, small objects made from paper, sawdust and rubber leftovers. To keep with tradition, local music and dancing are performed. It is a great way of getting involved in a Portuguese tradition and seeing the locals have fun.

I refuse to be stressed on my vacation so I’m getting all of my affairs in order!
We work so hard to take time off but then start fretting days before our return home about all the things we have to do when we get back. This year, I’m changing up my mindset and getting super prepared on the front end so that I can come back with the same calm mindset I had on vacation.
My tips are below for how to make this holiday vacation your most low-stress yet.
1️⃣ Prioritize your to-dos: I don’t post to social media when I’m traveling internationally so I’m taking the time now to schedule my social and blog posts, newsletter, and even some client emails. Then I make a list of what HAS to be done before I leave, if I have to do it or if I can outsource it, and drill down into what really must be done before I leave and what can wait until I get back.
2️⃣ Create rules for working while on vacation- I like to think that I’ll completely unplug for three weeks but the truth is that’s not realistic. I constantly have proposals in flux and if a client has questions I need to have answers. My plan is to take 15-30 minutes each day while my hubs is getting dressed to check emails and respond back to client inquires. I have a draft email saved for non urgent responses that basically says I will get back to you but expect a delayed response, and of course I have an out of office message scheduled.
3️⃣ Stretch the truth about your return date- I don’t like to encourage the spreading of untruths but I tend to tell folks I’m coming back a day after I actually am coming back. This gives me the day I return to clear my inbox, stops meetings from getting added to my calendar for the day after I return, and honestly it just gives me time to do my laundry and unpack which sets me in the back at home groove.
What do you do to keep your vacays stress free? Share in the comments, I’m always looking for more tips!
