  • One of the easiest shipwrecks in @queensland to access is hands down our SS City of Adelaide, walk out from Cockle Bay on a low tide and be wowed. Enjoy the weekend exploring! 👌🏻📷 @brennadillon

  • I know it’s been a while since I posted but I’ve been on this magical island hanging out with incredible animals like this little baby joey (a baby koala is also called a joey). It was probably the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life and it was just there chillin’ along this little hike I was doing. Magnetic Island is amazing!! #magneticisland #australia #koalajoey

  • guthalungra - townsville - castle hill - the strand - paluma range national park - little chrystal creek - chrystal creek - paradise waterhole

after planning to visit magnetic island, but then deciding against it due to that it all would be a bit of a rush, yesterday morning i decided to give it a go and started very early for a two hours drive to the ferry terminal. but there were just too much construction work and slow drivers on the road that i would not have make it in time and going later would have give me too little time for a day trip to maggie as they call the island here. instead i pulled over to the visitor information centre and had a lovely chat with the lady in there, who told me that she and her friend traveled to london 50 years ago (by ship, which took five weeks), traveled through great britain (without today‘s technology) and then took a bus from london to india to work there for a while before heading back to australia. what an amazing, inspirational adventure and life story.
i then drove to castle hill with an amazing view on townsville and magnetic island before heading for a relaxing afternoon to ‘the strand’. later that day i drove to the paluma range national park, first visiting little chrystal creek and then continuing to big chrystal creek, where i would spend the night. not without a stop at a beautiful stall next to the road, where i got myself heaps of homegrown fresh veggies and fruits. after a refreshing jump in the paradise waterhole next to the campsite, i had dinner and another lovely chat at the campfire with my elderly neighbours, who had plenty of great recommendations for me again.
