It feels good to be back home but I sure do miss the arctic already. A huge shout out to @ben_broady and all of our @dreamphotographyworkshops guests for an outstanding few weeks.
On our second day of workshop 2 we were treated to this stunning display in Nusfjord. Sometimes it pays to be a bit of a mountain 🐐 to get down to the lake.
If you want to join the @dreamphotographyworkshops next year in Iceland or Norway there’s a few spots left.
This shot was taken on the @nikonaustralia Z7 and 24-70mm lens. And thanks to the IBIS I managed to get this handheld. Oh it’s also a focus stacked image.
I woke up this morning...
When I jotted down those five little words, I instantly thought of the Sopranos theme song. 😂🔫
I wonder how many times I began to write something and use words that came directly from lyrics I overheard without recognizing that I'm bringing back remembrance of a song that I used to know. Maybe it's happenstance or memory, perhaps a combination of both. Come to think of it, isn't there a song called, Someone I Used To Know by Gotye? Both are great songs and it’s likely that it's just a coincidence with a tiny mix of nostalgia. Who knows?
The brain works in remarkable ways. I adore music and I love good lyrics. I've even been known to write a song or few myself, so I'm really not shocked that some words just pop out of nowhere. But, don't fret we won't slide down that rabbit hole, at least not yet today.
Today I want to write about change.
”So I am not a broken heart.
I am not the weight I lost or miles I ran and I am not the way I slept on my doorstep under the bare sky in smell of tears and whiskey because my apartment was empty and if I were to be this empty I wanted something solid to sleep on. Like concrete.
I am not this year and I am not your fault.
I am muscles building cells, a little every day because they broke that day,
but bones are stronger once they heal and I am smiling to the bus driver and replacing my groceries once a week and I am not sitting for hours in the shower anymore.
I am the way a life unfolds and bloom and seasons come and go and I am the way the spring always finds a way to turn even the coldest winter into a field of green and flowers and new life.
I am not your fault.” -
Change transpires in all of us, in every season of our lives, in numerous ways. Change can be felt, seen and even heard. Change can be subtle or dramatic; it's just how the way life goes for all of us. Nothing ever stays the same in life. And, it is not only until we realize that and stop taking things for granted, but we also come to the knowledge that our lives are really not as boring as we think it is. We just need to look closely and pay close attention.
Much love to all who read,
