Accurate BP measurement?
Here are 2️⃣ simple things to keep in mind when taking a patient’s BP to ensure accuracy!
Wrap the BP cuff snugly around the upper arm, about 1 inch above the antecubital fossa
Ensure that the reference mark on the BP cuff is pointed to the brachial artery!
🚨RIGHT CUFF SIZE🚨
If the cuff size is TOO B I G = your reading will be inaccurately L O W
If the cuff size is TOO S M A L L = your reading will be inaccurately H I G H

💉Hi everyone! My name is Julia and I am in school to become a Registered Nurse. I have been working in the hospital as a Nursing Assistant for the past two years, and want to become an Emergency Room Trauma Nurse one day. My future aspirations are to become a Nurse Practitioner and maybe even Nurse Educator one day. I really enjoy helping others not only through patient care, but helping others achieve their own goals. I plan on posting content about my journey and intend on being transparent through my own obstacles and experience. I want to inspire others to never give up on their passion and motive them to persevere! I am excited to join this healthcare community on Instagram❤️! @julia_maiani@julia_maiani •

🇺🇸 «Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people».

Not sure if many people know this, but there are biologists that literally go into the most remote and insane environments to figure out if certain animals are ACTUALLY extinct. The stories these people have are insane. Talk about a life of adventure... I definitely recommend checking @forrest.galante and his show out if you love animals. He's like a more extreme version of Steve Irwin.
Lol and no I'm not getting paid for this but if someone wants to 👀
Our primary purpose is to ensure access to healthcare in all communities we cater to and one of the ways we do this is to provide free services to all people in these communities.
This time around, myPharmacy Zionlife Branch, Abuja, ran a medical outreach where we provided free essential services such as:
• Individualized Pharmaceutical care
• Blood pressure checks
• Blood sugar checks • Body Mass Index Checks
• Deworming with antihelminthic medication.
We look to doing more as time goes on to promote the cause of healthcare.
Should we come to your neighborhood?
What community needs our services?

🔹Hyperkalemia is defined as serum potassium level >5-5.5 mmol/L.
🔹It can be caused by increased potassium load, extracellular shift or decreased potassium excretion.
🔹Pseudohyperkalemia is the term applied to the clinical situation in which in vitro lysis of cellular contents leads to measurement of a high serum potassium level that does not reflect the true in vivo level. It occurs most commonly with red blood cell hemolysis during the blood draw.
🔹Occasionally when severe it can cause palpitations, muscle pain, muscle weakness, or numbness. Hyperkalemia can cause an abnormal heart rhythm which can result in cardiac arrest and death.
🔹Generally, blood tests for serum potassium level, kidney function, glucose and occasionally creatine kinase and cortisol are performed. ECG is performed to determine if there is a significant risk of abnormal heart rhythm.

You might think it’s the sweat itself that causes your smelly armpits, but that’s only partly true. Interestingly enough, sweat by itself really doesn’t smell like anything. It’s when the moisture of your sweat glands combines with the bacteria on your skin that invites odor to your armpit party.
Our underarms provide the right environment for a perfect storm of stench. The area is more naturally prone to bacterial growth, and our sweat provides the right kind of moisture for skin bacteria to thrive. It’s a private, closed-off environment that doesn’t usually get a lot of air. Our sweat and our skin bacteria mix it up until the folks around us smell the effect.

What is CBD Part(II/X)
In 1940, two scientists stumbled upon a compound which is now known as Cannabidiol (CBD). While THC was not experimented in laboratories until 1969.
While it remains unclear when mankind first ingested these two compounds, some historians speculate it was as early as 500BC.
At that time early strains of cannabis/hemp was growing wildly on the Kush Mountain Range in western Asia.
Today's most common uses of Cannabidiol treatment include; regulating seizures, mild pain, anxiety, depression, and common digestive disorders.
Whereas today's most common uses for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) include; inducing appetite, controlling pain/overactive nerves, and can limit symptoms from Parkinsons & Rheumatoid Arthritis.
While the FDA states religiously that THC has no "medicinal" values, they have been busy endorsing Marinol. Which is a prescription pill that contains a synthetic version of THC called dronabinol. Which they "conveniently" sell a 2.5mg pill for $250.
Comment below what you think of the FDA's recent actions & don't forget to stay tuned for (Part III/X)

Hey, I’m Sophie and I’m 18, currently living with Crohn’s disease :)
Before I was diagnosed, I suffered from severe abdominal pains, constant fatigue and frequent toilet trips, sometimes up to 15 times per day. When I was diagnosed in 2014, at the age of 13, although disheartening, it was a relief to come to a finally conclusion.
It’s a struggle living with Crohn’s. I have been on many meds including mesalazine, azathioprine, methotrexate and a liquid diet for two months. The majority of those attempts failed and left me with bad side effects. As well as having two colonoscopies, MRI scans and weekly blood tests. I’m currently on adalimumab, which requires me to self-inject, getting me on my way to remission.
I often suffer constant fatigue, due to being very anaemic and having low iron levels. This restricts me from taking part in some basic activities, as well as the constant anxiety about being near a toilet.
The hardest part is the pure fact that I suffer with an illness that is completely ‘invisible’ to most people. People will think you’re healthy, when in reality you’re pretty unwell. A large negative is that I often get comments, from people who are unaware of my condition, about the diet I follow and how much eat and how many toilet trips I make lol.
By sharing my story, I hope that it has inspired others to open up about their condition and make more people aware of these invisible illnesses!
