Had such an amazing Easter weekend at @jackalopehotels with @stephdixoni. The accomodation was amazing and the food at @_dootdootdoot and @rareharewine was incredible. It’s no wonder these guys have had such a positive impact on the industry. Everything about this place is superior quality. Thanks very much to @purescot for the experience 🙏🏽
Chinese songs contain so much wisdom, especially about love and relationships. Yisa Yu released a new song recently, 记恨，which can be translated as “bearing grudges”. In the lyrics, certain lines were particularly insightful - pardon me if the translation is done inaccurately:
It’s not my fault - I’m not perfect;
I should start taking responsibility for myself.
From now on, you’ll never be mentioned again,
Because hate is love in its most concentrated form,
Do you understand?
It’s good for both of us;
The arguments trailing the end of our relationship;
When both parties get hurt, at least it’s fair and neither of us feel sore.
From now on, we’ll be akin to strangers,
Because pretending to have forgiven is in actuality, the worst form of escape.
Don’t blame me for being so extreme;
I’m this close to being able to forget you.
Telling you I miss you is plain cliche;
Hating you is a better version of missing you.
Don’t ask me why I’m lying about my feelings;
This is not the right time to be asking for a farewell hug;
Breaking up on good terms is way too patronizing;
Only me hating you can act as true release for you.
From now on, I’ll hate as much as I love;
Hoping that, will somehow, dilute my loneliness.
Lyrics by 葛大為.
Ironically, hatred is born from love and is the solution to get out of love. People bear grudges because they’ve loved, they’ve cared and more often than not, it’s cause they’re not left with anything else to remember what used to be great.
