  • Glow Up Tuesday
ft. my handsome pops @paulmontgomery67 !!
——
It’s these moments when I see myself as I used to be and who I am now that I remember that while everyone else just sees a smaller body, I see a woman who’s fought to find worth in herself,to find strength, and to feel good in her own existence!
——
So here’s your Tuesday reminder that you may not be where you want to be right now,but each day is an opportunity to take a step closer or further away from your goals..so which is it gonna be??

  • “Me and my brother had this deal. A pact. He was the crazy one and I was the one that was supposed to keep it together, go to college. He was my best friend hands down. If I needed anything I knew I could call him. That day it was 11 pm, I was about to fall into a deep sleep when my body jumped. I heard my mom screaming. They couldn’t find Tony. I called him, he ALWAYS picked up for me. This time he didn’t. My dad called and said they found him and that he hurt himself. My heart dropped and I fell to my knees sobbing. He held on for 3 days in the hospital. On his last day I took a deep breath, swung open his curtains and said ‘GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL ITS YOUR SISTER’ and his machines went crazy. I held his hand, sang to him, played his favorite songs, cried on his chest and said goodbye.” - Nina

Nina is 22, she is a suicide survivor, and in her senior year of college majoring in social work. Her hope is to work with people struggling with addiction and mental illness. She is also president of her own organization “Breaking the Barriers thru Tony’s Tribe”

When I first read the email from Nina, I felt a kinship to her. Not only had we both lost a brother, but she had this fire. There was something deep down that was fueling her to not just get up every day, but to propel and rise. Her story was traumatic, tragic and had so many similar twists and turns to mine. Families that are riddled with fear of the unknown and years of trauma of false alarms, emergencies, violence etc - that in itself is also a trauma, before the horrible act itself. Nina has taken this horrible life altering event at this young age and is using it to rise and help others. Tomorrow you will meet her mother Judy who is also doing the same, and then you will see their heart warming photos together and hear about the org they created. This week is all about the Albelo’s and Tony’s memory.

  • No one ever says, "I don't need to go to the dentist. That's for weak people."⁣
⁣
But it's amazing how many people have that attitude about therapy. They think talking to someone is a sign that they lack mental strength.⁣
⁣
Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness--it takes strength to admit you don't have all the answers.

  • Change, development and progress require time, strength and commitment, as well a degree of loss and letting go of what once was. But I am determined, day by day, to live life and celebrate it (for its joy and wonder as well as all its challenges and complexities), to treat myself with compassion and self-respect, and to begin the process of freeing myself from the weights around my ankles which have held me down for so long. Our heads can be troublesome places to live in, and our thoughts and mental states are hard to control/master. I no longer hate, judge or blame myself for the difficulties and mental health struggles I have faced in life. This is a crucial first step, hopefully of many. I truly believe anyone can recover from mental illness, given the right help, knowledge and support. It’s by no means an easy or straightforward journey. Whether it is worth it or not is up to the individual. However, if you don’t try you can never know. Our time on this magical earth is limited. Let’s do what we can with it. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #fear #anxiety #mentalillness #fortheliving #onedayatatime #littlesteps #possibilities #changeisgood #mentalstrength #keepgoing #endstigma #timetotalk #shareyourstory

  • ❤️❤️❤️ We all have a favourite place (or places) in the world.... ⠀
⠀
Those places that make us feel safe and alive. 🙌 Those places that inspire us to live our highest self 😇 Those places that feel like we belong and bring us a feeling of connection ❤️⠀
⠀
But where do we hold that internally, when we’re not in that external place? When we’re living out our day to day lives? Where do we hold that feeling of safety within? The feeling of being alive and connected to ourselves? The feeling of internally belonging. ⠀
⠀
It’s there, but maybe you haven’t found it yet. Dig deeper ... it’s in those moments when you disconnect, in those moments when you mindlessly drink, mindlessly eat, mindlessly reach for your phone, or flick the channels. These are the moments that are full of opportunity for discovering what’s holding us back from finding everything inside us. ⠀
⠀
Where’s you’re FAVOURITE place in the world?!?!!? And what feelings does it give you?! #favourite👇👇👇👇👇

  • Understand your mind is valuable.
-
Is it scary to share your mind openly and freely? Yes. It takes work to build that comfort level and ability to do so. I’m not saying to slander or speak negatively on someone because they think a certain way, because that’s disrespectful. What I am saying...?
-
Your thoughts, your goals, your aspirations, your dreams and your overall want to be heard? It matters. Social media is an amazing tool that is at our fingertips and should be used as such. We continually advance and it’s hard to stay up in the shuffle of things, but you also don’t know what speaking your kind could do for someone else.
-
Do I characterize myself as a “motivational speaker”? No, not in the slightest. I do know that for some this could be the motivation they need to understand that their thoughts are just as important as the next person. -
So, if you’re feeling low? Know you’re not alone. If you’re feeling discouraged? Know that’ll pass. If you have a passion for something? Let it be heard. And finally... if you’re being something you’re not? Stop. Your authentic self is waiting to thrive and each day you let that slip by...? That’s another day where you could’ve been truly living because you were being your full self.
-
God bless🙏

If you are looking for a good way to end chest day, or adding a new movement to your routine, LOOK NO FURTHER! 👀
.
This movement helps to get maximal blood to the muscle really helping to break it down further. It’s a simple addition to your routine that can help you bring up a lagging area of your chest 📈
.
Grab any medicine ball or weight, and hold it there for as long as you can! Sounds simple and easy but your chest will beg to differ 🙋‍♀️
.
A little think I do is grab a medicine ball that has some squeeze to it so when you’re holding up you’re also squeezing the ball in, really engaging the chest muscles 💪🏼
.
So next chest day, add this movement to the end of your workout or if you want a good challenge, do it as a superset with any movement (ex. Incline dumbbell press S/S isometric weight hold)👌🏻
.
As always, any questions or help you need...I GOT YOU 👐🏼

  • “Above all be the heroine of your life not the victim” - Nora Ephron

I feel I have taken back the power from those who didn’t give me strength but helped me stay weak.
I’ve made choices to be a person I’m proud of instead of continuously making choices that hurt and keep me mellowing in negative energy.
The strength I have came from my childhood. I am unstoppable. My faith in myself can not be broken. My experiences in my early years has brought so many connections in many different aspects.
Those bad decisions help me be able to share with others to not make the same ones and overcome the ones they did.
I am grateful for my past. The hurt I experienced. For the choices that I made that I’m not proud of. Above all my ambition and capability to overcome them. #mentalstrength #empath #loveyourself #nurtureyourself #developyourself #befree #findpeace #thrive #trustyourpath #forgive #begrateful #encourage #letgo #putyourselffirst

  • I am human. I feel and that is my power! ... Why do we create a culture where it is OK to seem stoic, composed, and emotionally numb. We become embarrassed if we are sensitive. We criticize and force ourselves to suppress the emotions and ignore them, and more often than not, they get bubbled up and get displayced with other uncomfortable emotions.
As a result we get angry at things and people, and we’re never at peace with ourselves. We don’t know why we feel what we feel, and when we’re told to NOT have these feelings, we think there’s something wrong with ourselves.

We don’t know how to deal with this vicious cycle, and no one is willing to tell us the solution because even they don’t know how to deal with it. They only learned how to ignore it. “To share your weakness is to make yourself vulnerable; to make yourself vulnerable is to show your strength.” ― Criss Jami

It’s okay to be emotional. It’s not a sign of weakness, but a sign of humanity and vulnerability. It’s okay to open up and share your emotions. It's OK to not be perfect in everything. It's OK to express yourself and deal with emotions right there an then when they happen. So next time, instead of suppressing it, just say it...not always through words, sometimes through gestures, art, music, sports... You’ll notice how freeing it is, and how exhilarating it is to express your deepest emotions and thoughts. “What happens when people open their hearts?”
“They get better.” ― Haruki Murakami #beautifulmind

  • Shame, disappointment, embarrassment: these are all the things I WAS feeling post-ninjury, and I needed to accept where my body was at and work through it. ..
..
Why? I’ve been so proud of being a ninja that when that ability was taken away I felt ashamed of the injury and embarrassed to share what happened to those outside of the ninja community. I felt I would somehow disappoint people. Allowing those negative thoughts and feelings to simmer in my mind was NOT helping me heal. .
.
What helps me heal is LOVING my body, being PROUD of the badass female that I am, and realizing that bad things happen and it is out of my control. All I can do is believe I will heal up, trust that God is mending me, and love my body as I actively rehab and dream with expectation for the future when I’ll be back swinging from bars and jumping to ropes. ..
..
What you believe about yourself matters. Even through injury and hard times, love yourself. Not just for what your body can do for you or for what approval you get from others because of an ability you have, but just for the core identity of who you are. Be thankful for your body; be thankful for your whole self, and love yourself unconditionally. ..
..
If something happened to you, and you suddenly were physically unable to do what you previously loved doing, you’ve got to know that you still love the actual person that you are and not just what you can do. ..
..
If you’re dealing with an injury that’s leaving you feeling lost, remember that there are other ways you can “still be you”. Explore other ways to work out, explore healthier eating habits, or journal about your experience. Dive in to the core of who you are and don’t let an injury define you.

  • TO SHOW UP AS BEST I CAN IN SITUATIONS I MAY NOT HAVE CONTROL OVER. 🏋️‍♂️
-
Not talking did not work for our society, so something had to change. I'm not sure what the exact catalyst for change was or when it came about but in terms of openness & understanding when managing issues around mental health/mental illness, I believe that basic human decency has helped pave the way towards a more empathetic environment whether in schools, clubs, the workplace and indeed at home.
-
It's far from perfect from an organisational & state perspective but as opposed to red tape & obligation, it's time & kindness from a friend or a colleague or a coach that holds the door open for continued acceptance around emotional stability. -
Conversation can open in so many ways; through one-on-one chat, through books, music, poetry, films. All because it's relevant. -
Talking to a friend saved my life. There's no such thing as a completely strong or completely weak person, we're intricate & complete beings, shit will happen. Please do what you must do to keep the head right.

  • Living for others people’s expectations guarantees you’ll fall short on your own... It’s easy to let external expectations and pressures drift you away from your true self. Often when you realize it, you’re living life on autopilot, barely aware of the choices you’re making and the reasons behind them.

It’s a natural human desire to want to please the people around us. We’re social creatures who thrive in community. But you don’t have to hide your true nature or ignore your deepest heart’s desire in order to be loved and accepted.

Your time here on earth is limited. Don’t waste it chasing approval and ignoring what you really want.

Depending on what messages you heard growing up, it can feel downright wrong to break out of the conventional way of doing things. Being honest about what you really want can feel offensive, selfish, or just unimportant.

When you reach the end of your life, will you regret not listening to your heart?

Will you recall lost opportunities and dreams unfulfilled? Will you think of all the lies you told — to yourself and to others to stay safe, comfortable, and likable?

A risk worth taking?
Note:
All these texts on here are foremost a reflection for myself and my life and if in any way they help you along your journey and people find points to relate to, let me know as I would love to hear your perspectives!

With love🤘🏻❤️

  • There’s no HUGE difference here, but I’m 6 weeks, I am able to say that I’ve lost 9 inches and 10lbs! My nutrition hasn’t always been on point, which is the real reason I probably didn’t lose more. But my neck, my arms and stomach have gotten slightly smaller and I’m proud of the progress so far! But my biggest achievement is my mental health. I would sit and want to sleep constantly. Constantly worrying if I was good enough for people. I heard on a podcast with @msrachelhollis That you can love yourself, but still be able to work on yourself. And that is exactly what I plan to do. I have been able to love this journey and have had people beside me cheering me on like I wouldn’t imagine ever before! I have 100 day program coming up on July 29th! And I couldn’t be more excited to start! If you guys would like to join our team, let me know! #beachbody #weightloss #mentalstrength

Blessed to get some time with him while he's on holiday to learn how to get more in life. 🙏🏾

  • Embrace your messy right? 😆 This is me at 5:30 am, coming down from a mile uphill ascent with a broken toe! Some of you may ask what gets me up at 4:30 am and walking by 5:30...and I can tell you it’s my dream and the goals I’ve set. It’s a fire lit to honor who I was born to be that I didn’t reach for the first half of my life! .
.
.
Everyday is a #maxout when we live with intention. Having lost everything a decade ago including my identity...or what I perceived then to be my identity...it’s not about what happened or who caused it...it’s how I found the deepest part of my soul and discovered who God intended I be. .
.
Trauma and adversity actually gave me back my life and now everyday I get to build my legacy as a gift of life!
.
.
.
Robin Williams, Kate Spade, Anthony Bourdain shocked the world when they committed suicide because they seemed to have it all.
.
.
.
The key is how do we address secrets that run deep, lost identities and lack of fulfillment or hope...my answer is my cause and the reason at 60 I’m unstoppable! ☝️

Dogs save lives and animals are the alternative medicine to mental health. That’s why we see the increase in the multi billion dollar pet industry. .

How we react and then respond to our emotions shapes a situation. A bad official call. Losing a game. Trash talking opponents. Pausing shows control. What you do after that pause shows mental toughness and mental strength.

I see 🌞 out of the window! How nice is it to get some Vit D on the body?!.
.
Personally I think summer has been rubbish so far but let’s hope we are in store for some nice weather.
.
Hard but successful session at the gym today.
.
Good upper session and it’s taken 12 weeks of slow progressive overload but managed 5x5 with good form on the bench press. Happy with that. That was my target at the beginning and glad I hit it in my last week of this mesocycle.
.
Looking forward to putting my crazy ideas on a spreadsheet for the next programme. Need to change it as I am not getting the same intensity now as body has accustomed to the programme even with good overload added.
.
But let’s take a look at what I can only describe as indulgent porn?!
.
Been craving a Magnum for ages ... craving satisfied and mixing it with Rice Pudding (come from Devon so has to be Ambrosia) and some cheeky fruit and one of the best protein bars out there , this really hit the spot and covered a nice Med, High GI #postworkout meal.
.
Mentally, I’ve been drained for a week now. Putting pressure on myself but I know it comes and goes. Thankfully my family are so supportive of me and that gives me the encouragement to keep going. .
Plus reading about some of your journeys is so amazing that helps me too. You guys are great and hope you all have a wonderful day.
.
Stay classy you sexy bunch. .
Oh ... watch the video at the end, totally worth it and have the sound on. It’s a chocolate 🍫 sexy show!
😉 .
400g Ambrosia Rice Pudding.
50g @Ocado ukPorridge.
100g @tescofood Mised Fruit.
4g @sweetfreedomuk Choc Shot.
1 x @magnum White Ice Cream.
0.5 x @battlesnacksofficial Cookies n Cream Bar.

  • One year ago I made a decision to get out of my comfort zone and try calisthenics, although I didn’t know anything or anyone, I took a step, pushed myself and went for it, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, or I can say that I made it happen. Along the way I met all the right people, got so much support and been improving ever since.
With the one and only @ali_binhabib10 who’s been my teacher, guide and the one who always pushes me to progress and believe in myself 🙌🏻 @gravitydxb

  • In the 90's Mike tyson bumped into Frank sinatra, Tyson admits he was talking down at Frank sinatra because at that time Tyson was at his peak, so before Frank left, he said listen here tough guy, Its not about how good youre doing, its about how long youre doing good, in that moment Tyson was humbled immediately and as we can see in hindsight, that statement was a powerful one

Moral of the story, stay hungry, keep working, stay humble.
