  • Emotional abuse is abuse.
  • Emotional abuse is abuse.

  • 🌊
There was a time in my life when I was in the midst of puberty and was obsessed with losing weight. I used to starve myself, exercise like crazy, and became a walking calories calculator. I managed to shed 10kg in 3 months. Plus, the what seemed to be harmless habit of Indonesians saying “you’ve gain weight” or “you’ve lost weight” when they have not seen me after some time did hurt me. It’s the one thing about Indonesians that I wasn’t proud of.
•
In 2013, I had a revelation about God’s love for me. I could vividly hear Him in my heart “why do you hurt yourself when I love you for who you are? Your body is my temple”. I was in a journey in discovering God’s love. What I discovered took my breath away and I had few opportunities to share it on stage with many girls and even adults.
•
Today, I’m happy with who I am, what I have become, and comfortable with my own body despite my big arms and thigh I was born with😂. I eat whatever I feel like eating without feeling guilty or even count the calories in it. I’m so happy to see my generation today embracing the “non Victoria Secret body” or curviness and encouraging other women who are suffering from body image and anorexia.
•
Girls, your health and happiness is the key, not the number. Embrace who you are, lose weight if you need to, but never, never, starve yourself or hurt yourself. Do it the right way, the healthy and safe way. Nonetheless, you are beautiful no matter what your skin colour or body type is. Don’t let them define you💕

  • ⚫Discrimination⚫

As a society the first wrong step we take is to discriminate. At some point in life we all have gone through the point where we were called out names such as choti, moti, kaali etc..... Why do we discriminate on the basis of appearance.
Is height, weight, color all that matter?? Just coz I am short doesn't mean you start calling me choti or tiddy or any such names.. Do you have any idea what I am going through... Do you have any idea that I might have some medical problem or such... Just coz I'm fat doesn't mean you call me Motii or bhalu or anything... Just coz of these words I am starving myself.. Do you realize?? Just coz I'm not attractive with a beautiful skin to flaunt you can't call me black... Beauty is not from appearance it is the soul... You might just joke but it is depressing to the other.. I'm sorry but you are mentally abusing and harassing the other 🛑 STOP 🛑
CAN WE PLEASE STOP CALLING NAMES... NOT EVEN FOR FUN!!!! THIS IS NOT FUNNY.. I'M NOT LAUGHING!! NO ONE IS!! #browngirl_life #discrimination #abuse #STOP #depression #harassment #height #weight #color #metoo #blog #instagram #insta

  • IDENTITY CRISIS
By
BEN ELTON
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I haven’t read a Ben Elton book before and after finding another 3 in an opshop it seems that his books are mostly murder mysteries. I had no idea but what a brilliant backdrop to make comments about whatever era you are writing about.
This book is about a series of murder but that only serves as the canvas from which to dive into discussion about Brexit, Russians meddling in international political campaigns, transgender issues, Harvey Weinstein and the #metoo campaign along with everything that social media pings us with when we least expect it.
Fiction but very much based on the reality of now.
I loved it

Niki Lopez: What is your Elephant?
Pompano Beach Cultural Center
@pbculturalcenter
The March film is “Caressed” from Niki Lopez, whose artwork was featured last year at an exhibition at @Ali artspompano “This short film 'Caressed' is an art film and a self-portrait, mixed-media video installation combining performance art and a poem I wrote about a traumatic childhood memory,” explained Lopez, who was featured in People magazine regarding her growing up in a cult and the ensuring abuse. “This intimate piece is a part of series with my personal artwork within the art movement: What’s Your Elephant – Creative Conversations about the Unknown.” The intentions behind Lopez’ work is to not only share a personal elephant but to have discussions surrounding unspoken topics such as abuse, survivors of abuse, awareness, the power of a ‘share’ and how the arts can be used to heal, to empower and to educate. This session will consist of a video screening, performance and artist lead discussion based on the mission of “What’s Your Elephant.” Tickets for all events are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Tickets are available online and at the Cultural Center Box Office.

  • We Are the Evidence educates, validates and empowers people who have been sexually assaulted. Our mission is to shed light on the truth about sexual assault, destroy society’s myths and the stigma associated with being a victim of this violent crime and make lasting changes in the justice system.
To achieve our mission, we’re creating a safe community where you can learn about your options moving forward and make an educated decision about whether or not you will report the crime and testify. It’s also a community where you can share your stories and regain your power by using this dark, traumatic event to empower yourself and others to influence change.
Together, we can educate people about sexual assault; teach friends, family, and co-workers how to be supportive, and dispel the myths and half-truths that lead jurors to deliver not-guilty verdicts. Sexual assault is not only a crime against individuals—it’s a crime against humanity that hurts all of us.
