  • Fun fact! ❗️ In September 1752 there are 11 days missing and that’s because the UK and a number of other European countries switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar which we use today. But unlike our calendar, the Maya calendar is said to have no faults.
Absolutely no wonder there is said to be no faults - Mayans were incredible mathematicians. Chitchen Itza was constricted based on dates, time and astronomy. For example, it’s completely aligned with the equinoxes, so during the equinox sunset, a snake appears on the steps as if descending down the pyramid. Another amazing feature they created is when you clap at the base of the pyramid, the echo you hear back resembles that of a quetzal bird, which was a spiritually important animal to the Mayans.
I could go on all day with the facts and tales as it’s sooo fascinating but I’ll spare you the history lesson! Chichen Itza is incredible, if you have the opportunity to visit Mexico, you need to go! 🤓
