Where do you fall in the pyramid of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs? .
Deficiency needs make up the first four levels of the pyramid. For instance, if you lack water (Physiological Need) you will do what it takes to get it. The final level, self-actualization, is a growth need. This level of achievement will come after you have fulfilled the other levels, working your way upwards, to your own needs and satisfaction.
Remember, your growth process will meet you where you’re at as long as you’re willing to put in the effort. Each level doesn’t have to be fulfilled at 100%, only according to where needs are met. None of the levels work in a vacuum, although they all effect one another. And yes, it is possible to be in different stages of motivation or change to work on multiple levels at one time, but it will be more challenging, naturally impacting your emotional and mental health. For example, if you lose your job, it can be really hard to be the best spouse you can be because you are preoccupied with being unemployed (Safety Need). Likewise, if you are homeless (Physiological Need), it is extremely difficult to also work on the two uppermost levels – self-esteem and the desire to become the most one can be (Self-Actualization- opportunity to fulfill one’s potential). And again, when safety (preservation of life and sense of security) needs are not met, posttraumatic stress may occur.
Recognize where you’re at in the pyramid and be cognizant of your innermost thoughts and emotions to avoid compromising your physical and mental health.
One thing to note, more updated pyramids have added another top layer- “Self-transcendence”... or sense of meaning. Essentially. It’s how you make sense or meaning of the world and your framework. .

Male/female differences exist in every major part of the Human brain. Through molecular, animal, and neuroimaging studies, a great deal of information regarding the differences between male and female brains and how much they differ in regards to both structure and function has been uncovered.
This may be due to the fact that females have a more intricate evaluation of risk-scenario contemplation, based on a prefrontal cortical control of the amygdala. For example, the ability to recall information better than males most likely originated from sexual selective pressures on females during competition with other females in mate selection. Recognition of social cues was an advantageous characteristic because it ultimately maximized offspring and was therefore selected for during evolution.
Oxytocin is a hormone that induces contraction of the uterus and lactation in mammals and is also a characteristic hormone of nursing mothers. Studies have found that oxytocin improves spatial memory. Through activation of the MAP kinase pathway, oxytocin plays a role in the enhancement of long-term synaptic plasticity, which is a change in strength between two neurons over a synapse that lasts for minutes or longer, and long-term memory. This hormone may have helped mothers remember the location of distant food sources so they could better nurture their offspring. Meta-analysis of grey matter in the brain found sexually dimorphic areas of the brain in both volume and density. When synthesized, these differences show volume increases for males tend to be on the left side of systems, while females generally see greater volume in the right hemisphere.

Stop trying to change who you are. Change should only occur after you’ve figured out who the hell you are, objectively.
This is from my book, Free Your Energy. I listen and observe everyone I come across.
People seem to be hellbent on trying to change, which is fine, but they don’t know why or for who - and that’s the problem.
The big question should be: who am I, objectively. To be objective means you observe yourself honestly and openly, without judgment or biases.
Quick example: if you objectively are poor at returning calls, setting plans, and basic communication then all you have to do is acknowledge (within). If you are in your ego, refuse to learn, grow or see yourself - then you’ll never be able to change.
If you want to change anything about your life you can truly empower yourself to do it, but try growth really occurs only after you’ve acknowledged what isn’t working.
And once you have a why then you’ll be propelled into action.
Without a why you’ll never make any change, ever.
Without a why you’ll never make any changes. The why is your motivating factor.
How to make a why, with example: “I’m not the best at returning calls or setting plans but I want to be better. I want to be better because I want people to know I care. I want to strengthen relationships and be more involved.” Now that’s a solid Why! That why has purpose and gives direction. That why is also specific!
But we can never make positive changes until we free our energy.
We do that by learning and observing who we are objectively first. Then figuring out the why for why we want/need to change.
You are all strong enough and wise enough to see yourself, objectively.
Just identifying ineffective behaviors

Of course, I realise your spine can do lots of different shapes. The issue is, it’s not designed to sustain these shapes for lengthy periods of time.
What happens when we live outside of a neutral spine?
1. Muscles that provide stability turn off
2. Reduced tidal volume (breathing)
3. Reduced organ function
4. Reduced brain function
5. Energy levels plummet
6. Neural innervation is disrupted
Ask your friends to keep an eye on your body and have a look at what position you’re often in. Ask them to gently nudge you if you look like the first two images.

@_thekylejones knows what’s up. relationships need safety in order for them to thrive. safety? yes. this individual must FEEL (not just perceive) that you are a safe person for them to express all thoughts and feelings with. they must trust that they will not be humiliated, ignored, blamed, shamed, laughed at, etc with you. when a person doesn’t feel safe, they will not expose their true self to you. we need true selves in order to grow and heal. there is a way to HOLD hard feelings that are expressed and this is the responsibility of each individual in the relationship. when safety is gone or damaged the relationship needs recovery.

Before you say the sentences get into your center. Use a foot bath or follow your breathing to calm down thoughts. Be super aware how you can receive and how you can give love, happiness, and abundance to others.
For those who started with us on Halloween:
“On day 20 I’m so strong that I can trust that Love, Happiness and Abundance IS coming to me.”
(Repeat 9 times then finish with “So be it.” If you mix up to words fix it by saying the sentence correctly 3 times, then continue with the 9 times count. Say the sentences but also try to find practical application to apply it.)

On your own, light a candle every morning, sit in front of it, and focus on your breath. When thoughts, feeling and outside noises distract you, gently bring your attention back to your breath. Ultimately your breath will guide you into you own calm and light center.

A great mindfulness practice to try when you feel like you’ve exhausted your daily commute, and seen all that could possibly be seen — take a look at other aspects of your terrain.
What do the colors look and feel like?
Read signs, if you (safely) can.
Smell the air — is there a bakery near by or is it just too frigid to smell at all?
Study people’s expressions. & look for new appearances, similar to this white buggy I came across today😍

WAKE UP CALL
I was listening to a Sam Harris lesson where he encouraged the listener to think about all the things we will experience for the last time. I’d like to share some of his key teachings that are very impactful to my perception of the world, and maybe yours as well
Way before we die, we will cease to have certain experiences…ones that we surely take for granted in the present.
There will be a last time we do something, whether we find that experience to be pleasant or unpleasant. Knowing that there will be finite number of times we participate in a certain experience changes how we perceive that experience in the moment.
I take beautiful moments for granted. And sometimes when I am uncomfortable I just am trying to get to the end of that experience.
There will come a time when we do something for the final time..and we RARELY will know when that is. even if we live for many years beyond that activity.
Everything is PRECIOUS. Attention is our true source of wealth. The only alternative to paying attention in the present is to be LOST IN THOUGHT.
I just started incorporating this affirmation into my daily self care ritual:
I breathe in the fullness and richness that life has to offer. I am divinely guided by spirit at all times. I am very well protected.
And so it is.

Let's get real about mindfulness: It's not always relaxing. In fact, sometimes mindfulness can be really hard.
Actually, not the mindfulness, but what you become aware of: The undercurrents of thoughts that are always there, driving our actions and emotions.
Mindfulness invites you to hang out with the clutter and chaos in your life that you may have been avoiding.
But mindfulness will help you get through it and maybe even discover a deep resiliency within that has always been there.
If you get stuck, try a guided mindfulness meditation, and remember to gently bring your focus back to breath and body, suspending judgment or striving, and being kind, patient, and curious in the moment.
This is what my meditation practice looks like today.
My baby is napping, but he only takes 2, 20 minute naps a day. I choose very carefully what to do during this time. Today meditation was calling me.
Mindfulness meditation works when you carve out space that works for you. Today that meant I practiced a short meditation with the baby monitor on next to me right in my living room.
I was also careful to be gentle with myself today as I have been feeling fragile lately.

There are two main problems with research into alternative therapies like meditation. Firstly, they rarely have a good control treatment to compare against.
Secondly, the people who choose to take part are often fans of the treatment and are predisposed to look for and exaggerate benefits.
However, researchers from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore sifted through nearly 19,000 meditation studies and found 47 trials that passed their ultra-strict criteria for a well-designed study.
Their findings proved that mindfulness meditation can help ease psychological stresses like anxiety, depression, and pain.
Dr. Elizabeth Hoge, a psychiatrist at the Centre for Anxiety, says that mindfulness meditation makes perfect sense for treating anxiety.
She says: “People with anxiety have a problem dealing with distracting thoughts that have too much power,” she explains. “They can’t distinguish between a problem-solving thought and a nagging worry that has no benefit”.
If you have unproductive worries, you can train yourself to experience those thoughts completely differently. You might think ‘I’m late, I might lose my job if I don’t get there on time, and it will be a disaster!’ .
Mindfulness teaches you to recognise, “Oh, there’s that thought again. I’ve been here before. But it’s just that—a thought, and not a part of my core self”, says Dr. Hoge.
One of her studies found that a mindfulness-based stress reduction program helped quell anxiety symptoms in people with generalised anxiety disorder, a condition marked by hard-to-control worries, poor sleep, and irritability.
Meditation also calms the nervous system by removing stress related hormones like cortisol and increasing “happy” hormones like serotonin. So it’s not just psychological training, it’s a more holistic approach.

Mindfulness is all about paying attention and live the present moment.
Our life unfolds only in moments, when we are not present we miss these moments, we miss our lives.
What are some ways we can easily bring mindfulness into our life? - Think Breathing: Breathe in , hold for 3 counts and exhale. Count seven breaths. •
- Mindful Drinking: Kick start your body. Mix hot water, lemon and cayenne pepper. Taste it!•
- Do One Thing at the Time: When eating, just eat. When checking emails, just check email•
- Notice your Sense: What are two things that you can taste, smell, touch, hear right now? •
- Deep Listening: Listen completely and contemplate your response •
- Mindful Eating: Turn off all distractions, explore the textures, favours and temperatures. •
- Mindful Walking: Feel your feet connecting with the ground • - Body Scan Time: Bring your attention to your body , send the breath to any areas of tension.

And now the days are moving too quickly. I’m editing videos, recording meditations, making new web pages on my site, and constructing pages for others.
I’m executing on things I wrote down years ago about dreams I had for what I wanted to create.
All is well.
Teaching yoga is my North Star, and when I started experimenting with meditations + nidra yoga, it was like lightning. everything made sense. This is what I’m supposed to be doing. This makes me happy, and others tell me it makes them happy. That’s a lot of beautiful energy I want to keep moving. So much that I moved across the world for it.
My meditations are going up live on my website this weekend. I’m terrified and excited. Ideas are jumping out of my head, and I can’t wait to share those with you. ✨

With greater awareness comes a greater ability to notice deep seated emotions and the feelings they create. I recently traveled to California to attend an Influencer conference – something that I was looking forward to.
On travel day prior to the event, I woke early and had a strange feeling in my gut. I just felt empty and alone. During my morning meditation practice, I sat with that feeling and went deeper to explore with greater curiosity and focus. I couldn’t determine what emotion was behind this feeling and in fact, the meditation actually seemed to amplify the feeling of loneliness and self doubt. I boarded my flight, arrived at my hotel and decided to go straight the gym to sweat it out. No such luck. Despite a solid training session, I was feeling very small and alone. Same deal on the morning of the event.
I pondered if this was something from childhood, perhaps not feeling good enough or smart enough.
When the event kicked off, I was surrounded by 2000 dynamic like-minded people who want to make a positive impact. The connections and conversations almost immediately shifted my energy and I was once again feeling light, aligned and energized.
So why the fear and doubt? I’m still processing this however I believe it is lack of human connection. The days leading up to this event I was working and living in a silo in preparation of travel – I have a tendency to go it alone. This combined with tension and distance in my relationship at home. It is said that deep human connection is the purpose and result of a meaningful life.
I’m still integrating the message however I can say without a doubt that no one should ever go it alone. Everybody needs somebody. The skill and habit of daily mindfulness gives one a greater awareness to notice subtle feelings that may go unnoticed. Ignoring the warning lights on the dashboard of your car may be ok for a while, but it could lead to a greater problem.
