Are you working for your goal?

Or are you talking but no action?

  • I got a comment in the community from someone saying they wanted to be a spiritual teacher but were afraid they’d be labeled a charlatan. Or, someone would question their lack of credentials.

My answer was: they will.

Anyone who has a message, anyone who speaks their truth will be judged. You can have all the credentials in the world, and that won’t matter when someone has defined you (I’m living proof.) We humans do what we always do: we put people in boxes. We assign meaning. We create a story around people’s actions. We determine people’s intentions.

People have every right to do this.

Our work is to know our “why.” It’s to truly know ourselves, and our own intentions. Then, release the need to manage perceptions.

They can’t be managed anyway. It isn’t our place.

My greatest wish, the reason I show up every day, is to hopefully inspire you to show up too. You’re worth it. You deserve it.

Being misunderstood is a gift. It’s a rite of passage. We will always project our own insecurities others others.

The work is to do it anyway #selfhealers

  • The best example I have of this is when my parents found out I was gay. They were hurt.

This doesn’t come from the reality that they didn’t  love me, or that they didn’t want to accept me. They struggled with what so many of our parents do: a child fantasy. 
And, they needed time to release that fantasy for what actually is. (The Italian wife with the husband and kids 💁🏻‍♀️) This is one of many examples of something I see all the time. Adults living out of alignment desperately trying to fulfill that fantasy role for a parent.

It leads to resentment, addiction, as layers of self betrayal.

Many of our parents haven’t resolved their own traumas. So they parent us from a wounded place. Thinking they know what’s best for us without actually seeing or hearing us.

How could they? They were never seen or heard.

Part of our healing is getting in touch with our true nature. It’s separating “us” from them (trust me you’re more them than you’re aware of) + becoming self actualized.

Fulfilling the fantasy role is like being on a hamster wheel.

Emotional maturity is getting off for good.

It’s claiming your own reality, belief systems + needs.

This life is for you.

Honor your parents by living authentically, even if that doesn’t align with what they’ve created within their minds #selfhealers

  • There are lots of ways to train for skill, but the focus is always on becoming BETTER, more CAPABLE, CONSISTENT, CONFIDENT, COURAGEOUS, and maybe even ADVENTUROUS.

You can train the skills of consistency, discipline, persistence without perfectionism, proficiency at a movement skill, breathing, breathing in movement, pelvic floor recruitment or relaxation, valuing quality over quantity, ditching harmful mindsets....

There’s nothing wrong with desiring physique change, but when that goal is front and center, we often lose steam or make some crummy decisions.
•
My #pelvicfloorpeeps ESEPCIALLY do better shifting away from an “exercise to change my body” mindset to a “move to train and build my body and find joy and new skills” approach.
•
If you want to watch something to measure progress, watch how well you’re moving and how you get better and better.

It took me more than 2 years to cook these mung beans…🤦‍♀️⁣⁣

I had bought them, but I didn’t know how to cook them, nor what kind of dishes I could make.  I had no ideas.⁣⁣

The only thing I needed to do was to google “mung beans, recipe”, but trying something new, doing that wasn’t easy for some reason, changing my habit of cooking was a big deal when it came to these beans. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It sounds so silly, but sometimes, a change or new things, even if it seems like a no big deal for others,  can be a big deal in our life.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So, when my emotional eating clients have a hard time letting go of their old and comfortable habits (=binge eating, compulsive eating, overeating, or stress eating), I make sure we take lots of time and room to ‘experiment’ and ‘explore’. The clients would create a new habit, but get too overwhelmed and come back to the old easy way, and that’s ok. ⁣⁣

We just need to go back to trying and feeling a bit more comfortable with the “new norm”, just like I can cook the mung beans without a recipe now.⁣⁣

What kind of ‘new norm’ you’d like to create?  Not eating on 2 doughnuts at 3pm at work? Not binging on a box of cookies after the kids went to bed? Not finishing a big bag of chips while watching Netflix?⁣⁣
