  • You’ll see my kiddos twinning from time to time, but I am also all about encouraging individuality in them which is why I love shopping at OshKosh. AD It’s a one-stop-shop where we can find everything that my kids can easily relate to! We all know how crazy it gets when your toddlers/kids start dressing themselves up, right? 😉 Thankfully, with @oshkoshkids, it’s one less worry I have as I am pretty sure whatever style they go for, they’ll rock it! ⁣

If you haven’t yet, head over to my blog (linkinbio) & check out why we love OshKosh so much and grab a coupon code to save on all the fun back-to-school styles! #oshkoshkids

📷 Taken at 17 weeks pregnant and with every passing minute I grow more excited to hold my 3rd baby in my arms ❤️

I’m curious, this will be our 3rd child and I know our family won’t be complete with 3, but how many babies do YOU want or is your family currently complete?

  • This is something I need to remind myself. ⠀
⠀
Recently I was struggling with a job that was no longer serving this season of life I am in. The more I fought to be my former competitive and perfectionist self at work, the more I spiraled down emotionally. ⠀
⠀
Feeling like I needed to be the absolute best at work and absolute best at home meant I mostly just felt like a failure every day. ⠀
⠀
I finally allowed myself to change jobs to something that I used to look down my nose at but now will allow me to be more present with my son. He will only be little for a short while and my priorities have shifted. ⠀
⠀
I’m trying to remind myself that it’s ok to not want to be at the top of my field right now. That my career is still there and I can continue to pivot as my season of life changes. ⠀
⠀
I’m trying to not worry about how others will perceive me when I’m not some big director or in a “dream” career. The biggest thing that matters is how my son looks at me. (Though I still struggle with what other people think)⠀
⠀
Double tap if you can relate to needing to adjust to a new season of life 💙⠀

  • POSTPARTUM BODY LOVE
I just posted my baby’s three month picture yesterday, but why not my own? This is me three months postpartum. I could’ve sucked my stomach in, but for what? That wouldn’t be real.

For so long I’ve been so ashamed. I’ve only been working out for the past two weeks yet I want instant results. I was weighing myself daily in tears because I haven’t lost a pound. I was skipping meals. All while people messaged me pretending to check in on me then throwing in a pitch to join their team and lose the “baby weight.”
They had no clue I was already so depressed with the extra skin and lose stomach. But I am sick of it!
I’m getting my body back.
Yeah you heard right. I’m getting my body back from the media, from the magazines, from the people in my inbox telling me I can lose weight in a week on their products. Most of all I’m getting my body back from my own inner critic.
Yes I’ve been working out but this isn’t for anyone but me, this is personal. I’m working to be the best version of me, on MY time. I didn’t start working out 6 weeks postpartum like everyone says. Because I simply wasn’t ready. We are ALL different.
And I’m done trying to look a certain way to fit into a mold none of us were ever created to fit in.
This is me.
This body has pushed through hyperemesis, constant IV fluids, and been stretched and pulled.
I’m done telling myself I’ll be happier when I’m smaller. And I know I’m not the only one.
So to anyone else, let’s take our bodies back together! We can find happiness in the NOW.
And don’t let ANYONE tell you how you should or shouldn’t look, not 6 weeks postpartum not even 5 years postpartum!🤜🏾✨🤛🏻

  • The biggest motivator to move your ass is the one that follows it around incessantly.
As my girls become more independent and start to move faster, I’ve come to realize I better have the energy to keep up. 💕
Funny how our littles can demonstrate all of the perseverance and strength to motivate us mamas

  • Do you believe in balancing it all? The “how do you balance it all” post is also the post where I tell you I don’t believe in trying to balance it all. By far, the most common request I got last week was around sharing tips about how to balance it all when going back to work. I wish I had a magic answer (I’d probably be the next Ariana Huffington then and rich!), but there really is none. There are some small things I did the last time around that worked well for me. I blocked my calendar so I could leave work at a certain time each day. This meant I could get to daycare and home earlier. But the trade-off is that I would from time to time do work in the evenings/weekends and always checked in. I’m also able to work from home one day a week which I feel very fortunate about. This day is when I could often fit in a lunchtime exercise class or go for a run. Mentally not having to go on transit in Toronto one day per week does wonders for the soul. I also leaned on my partner more. There are days where I do complain about doing the bulk of the “emotional labour” in our house, but I do know B does a lot in terms of keeping our household going. But after saying all of this, I do believe more in integrating work and life rather than trying to balance it. We spend a heck of a lot of time at work and with the people we work with, so they are part of my life too. I’ve let them in personally and in return when I need a little extra support because of something going on at home they understand. But all of this said, what works for me may look completely different for you as your work situation isn't the same as mine. And there are definitely still days where I feel like I’m doing it all wrong.

  • THIS BOY made me a mom. Can I be honest with you? I wanted to be a mom my entire life, but when I first looked at him I was scared shitless.😱😱😱 I saw all of these moms who came before me instantly know what to do...and I did not. 😳Did you feel like that?⠀
⠀
You guys, when they handed him to me (way after he was born because the cord was around his neck and they needed to make sure he was ok) and he cried I literally looked at the nurse and said, "what do I do?" and 🤔she says, "You feed him." ⠀
⠀
⠀
IS THERE A MANUAL you're hiding back there behind the really hot mesh undies and "sandwich" ingredients...because I'd like to read it.😨⠀
⠀
⠀
⭐⭐⭐He's about to turn 9 years old and somehow we have made it this far. He has one of the most creative minds I've ever met, a funny personality and still loves mama snuggles. ⠀
⠀
I wish I could go back and just tell myself to breathe 😃and soak it all in instead of second guessing everything...because here we are in a blink...building LEGO creations off the cuff, getting ready for ⚾baseball season again, and learning about expanded form in school. ⠀
⠀
So I'm taking my own advice from here on out and basking in the light of his smile. ⠀
⠀
Happy (almost) birthday - I love you to infinity and beyond. ⠀

  • Have you ever had one of those days? The one that crushes you. That feels like there is a Ton of bricks crushing you, or that you just can’t catch your breath?

Me too.
I was cleaning out pictures on my phone, to make room for more pictures on my phone, when I came across this one. It’s an accidental shot I’m sure. BUT, it’s me putting one foot in front of the other. It’s me standing when I’d rather be in the fetal position, in bed, sobbing.
So I decided to share it. I wanted to remind you ladies, they Life is FUCKING hard, and that the blows we are dealt can be crushing, but we have the ability to pull our selves up. Maybe for 30 seconds today we get out of bed, for 2 minutes tomorrow, and so on, Until we are up more than we are down.
Ladies, this world needs you, You deserve Wellness, You deserve to enjoy all that this life has for you.
Sending you Love, from one crumpled Mom to another.#motherhoodrising #momtruth #lifeisgood #harddays #momlife #mentalhealthawareness

Why? Because who has time to stop and cook when three small psychos are demanding all of your attention!
Taking time once a week to get grab and go dishes assembled saves so much time during the week! (Not to mention you won’t need to eat scraps off the kids plates 🙈)

I know they say that your baby may practice certain milestones in their sleep due to being excited about mastering 👩‍🏫 a new skill... but this little cutie has taken things to a whole new level --- sleep-sitting. 🤷‍♀️ While impressive as it may sound 👂🏻 this can only mean one ☝️ thing... we've got a future sleep-walker 💤 on our hands... poor girl will have to be confined to a crib through her teenage years. I can see it now 🤔 "Mom I have no idea how I ended up at that party... you know I'm a sleep-walker and can't help it!" 🤦🏽‍♀️

  • DID YOU KNOW👶🏻...
.
That both birthers, AND birth partners give and receive the same benefits from skin-to-skin with their babies?
.
For example...
1️⃣Babies given S2S with either parent have lower cortisol after just 20minutes. (Remarkably, their pain tolerance is also reduced!)
2️⃣Parents pass antibodies from their mature systems through skin to their baby, boosting their baby’s immune system.
3️⃣Babies can better regulate their heart rate and breathing patterns from skin-to-skin with their parents.
4️⃣Being skin-to-skin increases the development of neural pathways, accelerating brain maturation.
....and so much more!

  • I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep last night. It’s not that I had the urge to indulge in a bit more time to myself and stayed up late. It’s because my little munchkin fell off her bed and got startled, then wanted to cuddle me in mine and for some reason decided to make herself comfortable on the edge with the danger of falling again and I couldn’t sleep a wink from 3.30am on.
And I bet all you sweet mamas with tiny babies that wake every couple of hours think, you’d trade with me in a second. I do! I was in your shoes once too. Walking on the edge of total meltdown due to exhaustion. Constant ups and downs and no sight of the end of it. I feel your pain, today more than i ever care to again.
But let me give you a sliver of hope. It will pass. It will get better. Stay strong and power through. Enjoy your bed to yourself whenever you can, let others help you in every way they are willing.
As they say, it takes a village to raise a child, you are Wonderwoman not by doing it all on your own, but by finding your support system and maintaining it for the healthiest outcome for your family. 😘🍫❤️

  • Hey 👋🏼 I’m Ashley!
I’ve got some fairly relatable chaos over here.
I’m a mama to 1yr old #moditwins Raya & Rebel, and 3yr old #IA survivor, Kaven.
Our family has been through some fairly traumatic motions, and have come out swinging on the other side. I’m sharing our story, and our mission to a healthy lifestyle here!
Buckle up 🤪
