Why I quit reading self help books:
That’s right, not stopped, but quit. I’d flip though the pages or speed up the audiobook, overexcited to hear what comes next. I’d even take notes sometimes or answer the questions the book was asking me.
But all of that doesn’t actually ‘help’ your ‘self.’
Towards the end of the book, you feel like you’re on top of the world and can achieve anything just by thinking, or believing it. (By the way, that’s completely true.)
But then the book ends and you’re back to being your lazy, insecure self, scrolling through audible to pick a new book.
Because all of these self help books are just motivation unless you use them. Motivation always ends: its dependent on your emotions.
While reading dozens of self help books I’d always feel like I was changing my life, but I wasn’t. All I did was read enough books to be able to ‘coach’ you guys on how to ‘change your life!’
I realized that instead of reading my extensive list of books from incredible coaches and psychologists, I should’ve stopped on the first piece of advice I got from the first book and worked that through for the next year.
No advice that any self help book will ever give you will be a one time deal. It’s always about habits. About changing your core, not just a single decision.
For example: the 5 second rule by the fabulous @melrobbins. You can rummage through all of Mel Robbin’s books, but if you don’t first work through her simple 54321 rule, everything else is pointless.
You can get excited for all of the success stories authors talk about in their books, but you’re not the success story you’re reading about unless you execute. Knowledge is nothing without execution.
So, I invite you all to try this easy little trick, take it seriously, and actually do it for a week or two (or three...) so it becomes habitual. Any time you feel lazy to do something, count down 5-4-3-2-1 and then just do it. I just saved you a few hours of book reading. ❤️☺️ just try it! It can be life changing.
Or if you’re currently reading a self help book, just truly implement at least one thing the author is suggesting before you read on.

With tonight’s win vs Austin Peay, the Montana State Bobcats are advancing to the FCS Playoffs Semifinals where they will play the winner of NDSU vs Illinois State. It’s sad to see that the Governors Cinderella story has ended, but it’s also cool to see that MSU is actually a pretty good football team. It’s pretty unlikely, but the Bobcats could be that one team to upset NDSU this year... 🤷♂️
What’s your favourite brew to get yourself going on a Monday? If I’m feeling fancy, Orange Pekoe or Kenilworth Ceylon are my go to but today good old English Breakfast is doing the trick!

My week recap: My week started out very rough to say the least. Because of it being year end, this tends to be a very stressful time for many people, friends, business' and even tourists. Trying to go to different places fighting the traffic, dealing with bad news that I received earlier in the week and feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders, I started to internalize and got very stressed.
After some deep breaths and self reflection, I started to have a brief moment of clarity. I believe it was my faith in God and the willingness to continue to move forward and not give up on love in all its forms.
Because of this perseverance, I was blessed and fortunate to end my work week with some great news and a tremendous amount of success for my own personal future and for the ones I love around me. I stopped by the beach on the way home today just to stare at the beautiful ocean to realize how small my problems are amongst a great vast world. Keeping that perspective teaches me to never want to lose faith or site on all the things and people that I love with all my heart. A little rest and relaxation and then I can't wait to start Monday and continue to build my future. #Mondaymotivation#letsgetit
Knowledge is power.
That's also the reason why there are people in this world still not given the privilege of education. Women and children are among those who are marginalised when it comes to education
Isn't it sad that girls in rural areas are told to stop going to school after they hit puberty, so they can be married to someone?
Isn't it sad that those girls grow up to become women and are forced to stay where they are because they don't know any better?
At the same time, in developed economies, there are still women who struggle in their careers. Some who establish businesses for survival struggle to rise above the ranks of men in the same industry.
That's why at Fempreneur Secrets, we believe that women should share as much knowledge as possible with other women. Knowledge is meant to be shared.
That's how we advance gender equality, especially in the world of business. So we can provide a better education for our children and our sister's children.
We're in this for the long haul, and we believe that women should run and own businesses to build legacies.
