One of my favorite watches of 2018 was the F.P. Journe Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante. As a 44mm, solid platinum split-seconds chrono with a purple dial, it isn’t exactly something I expected to love, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Check out my full review of this beauty of a beast over on HODINKEE.

I love how Montblanc has created a collection that's heritage inspired while still looking super contemporary. The balance is everything here.
The mechanical movement of the Halda Race Pilot is the Caliber 685. It is a 38-jewel automatic movement that beats 28,800 times per hour and has a 50-hour Power Reserve, visible through the crystal case-back. Why not a chronograph, you ask. The Race Module already has an invisible one, and the fuel gauge of the mechanical module, or the Power Reserve in this matter, is far more useful when alternating between modules.⚙️
Between 1998 and 2008, Cartier produced vintage looking watches, inspired by their most iconic models to carry some incredible mouvements. This was the brand’s way to attract watch collectors that were dead serious about the horological side of a timepiece.
In today’s world of luxury timepieces where so-called collectors are driving up the prices for Nautilus, Royal Oaks and RM11, it is nice to look back to a time, not so long ago, where the watch game was not a financial quest for the highest bidder.
You won’t often see someone sporting this watch because a) it was made in limited quantities and b) it’s relatively small size does not appeal to the modern watch buyer. When I see this in a wrist, it tells me that I am in presence of a connoisseur who probably wears suits casually, because it makes him look good and feel great about himself! #cartier#watch#cpcp#collectionprivee#watch#timepiece#luxury#watchcollection#dandy#elegant#classy#platinum#chrono#monopoussoir#monopusher
The Montblanc 1858 Monopusher Chronograph Limited Edition 100 pays tribute to the historical Minerva monopusher chronograph calibre 13.20, specially developed in 1920 for use in a wristwatch. This timepiece is the epitome of vintage chronograph design with its 40 mm stainless steel case. Reinforcing the vintage look, it features an original smoked-green dial and matching green alligator strap with beige stitching, coming from the Montblanc Pelletteria in Florence, Italy. Reminiscent of the iconic Minerva chronographs, it features a bi-compax dial with a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock and a chronograph 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, as well as a tachymeter scale on the outer part of the dial. On the case back, the sapphire crystal reveals the beauty of the Montblanc Manufacture monopusher chronograph Calibre MB M13.21, composed of a large balance wheel with 18 screws beating at the traditional frequency of 18,000 A/H, a column wheel and horizontal coupling. This high-end, hand-finished movement features the iconic V-shaped chronograph bridge, whose design was protected in 1912, along with the iconic Minerva arrow decorated by hand.
This Chopard quartz Monopusher chronograph may have been the biggest casing nightmare I've ever had to deal with. There's screws on the back which hold the bezel in, and then you have to poke through the screw holes to move the bezel because there's no seam to pry under. Then the casing ring is so tight and integrated with the case that you have to basically pry on the dial to get it out. But I didn't know eta made a quartz monopusher chronograph movement, that's kind of cool
The Halda Trackmaster is a military grade GPS unit that is handcrafted from NASA certified material. The Trackmaster is placed on the inside of the car’s windscreen and then communicates wirelessly with the digital Race Pilot module on your wrist in order to provide you with instant feedback. To allow you to focus on the road, the Trackmaster features red and green light indicators based on how you’re performing in real-time.
The Trackmaster automatically locates the racetrack, presents you with key information about it, and measures your current driving with a frequency of 10 times per second and with an accuracy down to 1/100 of a second. It also has an integrated 6-axis accelerometer measuring maximum G-forces. When driving, the Trackmaster shows, with its lights, how the driver is performing against the best lap, so you can focus on the road, yet still get information on how your performing via your peripheral vision.
The digital Halda race watch is based on an easy to use interface. After the driving session, the watch automatically calculates and presents:
•Lap time for every lap
•Maximum lateral G-Force
•Best theoretical time
Essential data is presented in your Halda timepiece and information you wish to save is stored permanently in the watch. You can view your best lap times and performance from different tracks for many years to come
