Yesterday on The Pinnacles of Liathach. A fantastic days hiking and scrambling over 2 Munros and the joining ridge. Here’s me standing out on an outlying pinnacle. Gotta thank @debbieekins8 for the photo.
Sometimes the big mountains are as simple as taking in the moment. Our team of 3, Jon from Utah/Washington, Alex from Minnesota, and myself from New Hampshire had become close friends over the years after living at Mt Rainier. And here we were together in the heart of the Alaska Range. Skiing back to camp with the alluring and stunningly aesthetic Kahiltna Queen at our backs- it was all too worth it to stop and look around for a few minutes. 😌✌️ #KindredSpirits .
The sky was blue when we left Dharamkot. He said blue sky summit pics were lame- there’s no “drama.”
4 hours and a summit later, the skies were not so blue.
It was cold. There was drama. He was happy.
A fun little ridge scramble to top out on Cashmere Mountain! Conditions couldn't have been better, and lovely Meadows up to 7800', a trail to 8200', and a fairly straightforward and easy scramble! First unique Bulger peak of 2019 for me.
This weekend's alpine adventure was a pretty climb along a ridge. I successfully self arrested a fall on the approach (kind of, but hey I was safe haha), rappeled in a storm, and followed some "fun" unprotected traverses. Always learning something new in the mountains!

14640 ft / 4462m La Malinche Summit! ⛰🙌🏻😃🤗 .
This is the very first time I hike a Volcano, or even any mountain at such altitud! I feel so accomplished and happy, I thought it would be such more difficult or that the altitud would be a challenge! Loved the experience, it was worth it every mile and the scenery and landscapes are amazing!
I don’t consider myself a mountaineer, I am more used to trails and hikes around 2,500m, so this meant a lot to me! Meaning your are capable of far more than you can even imagine, that by pushing yourself a bit harder each time you can definitely aim higher! I hope this is the beginning of more daring adventures! .
