  • MY NAME IS BELLA ———————————————————————————
I have done this for myself a few times but I haven’t done a “get to know me” about Bella before! It may be difficult as her life has only been 8 months long so far but here it goes.... 1. I was breastfed up until the age of 4 months when I decided I preferred the bottle
2. My favourite foods are cheese and broccoli 
3. I was born 3 weeks early as mummy’s liver was failing so they had to get me out 
4. I love dogs even if I do try to yank their fur out!!! 5. I only slept through the night for the first time the night I turned 8 months and have been doing it since then... for now (cue evil baby laugh MUAHAHAHA) 
6. My favourite thing to do is be pushed around the supermarket in a trolley as everyone smiles at me and gives me attention
7. My first few outings were to the hospital as I had to go back daily for blood tests until I was 2 weeks 
8. My mummy is now running out of facts that you guys don’t already know so is going to stop at 8 instead of going to 10 😅😅😅

Life.  2019 has already hit me for a 6. The first few months of this year have been the hardest of my life. Those close to us know the story and we are thankful for all the love and support through these events. 
What I’ve learnt is sometimes situations are out of your control, Sometimes it feels like blow After blow in all different areas. But it won’t be forever. Ive learnt that A storm will come before a breakthrough and sometimes your circumstances change because there is so much more waiting for you in your next. I’ve learnt to find joy in the moments, pour your heart into serving and loving somebody else cause it takes your eyes off you, look in the mirror every day and affirm yourself and continually affirm and uplift those around you. 
In saying that this is the scripture I am
Clinging to right now
Maybe it will encourage you as it has encouraged me.. Job 23v10 — ‘But He knows the way I will take, when He has tested me, I will come forth as Gold.’
If your going through a hectic season- get ready because your next is just around the corner and it’s probably going to be breathtakingly beautiful ❤️

I legit forgot to put some money out from the tooth fairy AGAIN!!!

You know those times as a mum where you just want to kick yourself and scream ‘You’re such an id*^t.’ #EpicMumFail 😫

My heart sank when I saw the look of horror on his face as he peered into an empty glass of water 😭😭😭.
.
Thinking quick on my feet I used the fact that he had swallowed his tooth eating a chocolate almond croissant the day before as the PERFECT excuse to cover my tracks.
I then switched the blame around (as all good parents do 🤭) and politely highlighted the fact that ‘it’s no wonder the tooth fairy didn’t come. She’s not going to leave money without an explaining of where the tooth is.’ #Genius💡.

He then came up with the idea of writing her a letter to leave out the following night explaining what had happened 😅 🦷.

  • Something came up in my Facebook group for mums this week that I felt would be useful to share here for you. We were talking about being your own best friend and one of the beautiful mums courageously shared that she never tells herself how great she is and so she felt silly talking to herself as she would talk to her best friend. ⁣
⁣
I know for sure that she's not the only one who feels like this. ⁣
⁣
It's so important that we can feel authentic in the way we talk to ourselves. We need to encourage ourselves, but in a way that is believable, even if it stretches us. ⁣
⁣
When you introduce a completely new and different thought about yourself, you'll often feel some mental discomfort. But this doesn't mean that the new thought isn't true. So, rather than jumping straight from criticising yourself to "You're amazing!", you can try something that feels more acceptable as you learn to encourage yourself. ⁣
⁣
For example:"I am becoming aware of the things I do well"⁣
"I am learning to see my strengths"⁣
"I am doing my best and that is enough"⁣
"Today I did [insert chosen thing you did well] well"⁣
"I am proud of the way I did [insert chosen thing you did well]". Do you see what I mean? ⁣
⁣
Focus on the process of improvement. Recognising 1 strength or success, or the fact that you are learning to see how amazing you are. Give it a try!

  • Last night I finally manged to get to a @girl_boss_club_ meeting. A place for ladies in business to meet informally, network & support each other 🙌🏻💗

It was a great night & inspiring to see so many ladies all doing their own unique thing. Excited to hopefully collaborate with some on future events 🤗

  • EMERGENCY C SECTION - Part 2: It seemed like 5 minutes but also an hour for them to get here out - time wasn’t  normal at this point! And then she was here! A girl, an actual baby daughter - we and everyone that I saw through my pregnancy thought boy and there hadn’t been a girl born on my husband’s side for 100 years! I was just in shear disbelief that this tiny (not so tiny, 9lb 4oz, to be exact!) human was all ours. I couldn’t stop just looking at her and kissing her.  She cried as soon as she came out, but then was such a quiet little one, figuring out what was going in this big new world! In hindsight, that is 100% her character, assessing the situation before she decides to engage! I couldn’t be any more grateful to the amazing surgeons, anaesthetists, midwives and the lovely lady that brought me tea and toast whilst I was in the observation bay - BEST.MEAL.EVER!! #cesareanawarenessmonth #teaandtoastpost #emergencycsection #processingmybirth #mumhacks #mumofgirl #hampshiremums #ukmums #mylittlegirl #babydaughter #mumsofinstagram #mumsofig #instamum #firsttimemum #firstbaby #sweetbabyrae #mummyblogger

When you love being in the water sooo much, you are literally THE ONLY PERSON on the whole island of Procida to take a dip.

Although it never is just a dip with me. More a full on Olympic style swim in unknown waters that has the husband absolutely shitting himself in case I get into trouble.

Normally, before a stunt like this, I would have had a belly full of wine. Not because I needed it for courage for the water but because, well, I always had a belly full of wine. Especially on holiday.

Not big or clever. 
In fact, downright dangerous.

I was a fucking idiot.

No knowledge of rip currents, depth of the water or things like jellyfish.

I would disappear out of sight. 
Become a tiny dot on the horizon,  causing the husband and my daughter to panic. Because if I did get into trouble, they couldn't save me. The husband isn't a strong swimmer and my eldest is  12.

I'm actually getting upset writing this. I was an arse. 
This year in Italy was different. I stayed in sight and never went further than in the picture.

While I was swimming, I wondered how many times I'd ruined their holidays because of worrying about me. 
Wondered how many times I'd become the husband's third child. Someone else to look after.

Never again.

That's the thing about sobriety. It gives you your ability to empathise back. See things from other people's point of view. Especially those that love you.

And I never want to go back to the old way of living.

Sober swimming is where it's at...🤣🤣🤣🙌🙌🙌 . . .

  • Yeah I work out a bit but have also been a fair booze hag for the last few weeks (.....months) and quite sleep deprived due to the small ones 😅

I love my bod and am happy with finally being more consistent with exercise now that @she_moves_  exists 🙌🏽 But since having the kids, I have slowly slipped further away from many of the healthy habits that I really value and used to enjoy. 
So I am V excited to be bringing them back and helping other do so too! 
Healthy and REALISTIC habits without deprivation, guilt or bullshit fads. 🤙🏽 Shaka to that! 🤙🏽 Tomorrow is the last day to sign up if you are ready to roll with me (ya booze hag 😘) .

  • 8 Months Old 💚💙 (Yet again it took a bit to take these photos 😂) Baby boy, how on earth has it all ready been 8 months already ?! Your first word has been “Mum” (which you say all the time now 🙈) You are a force to be reckoned with. You crawl on all fours rather quickly, you pull yourself up onto everything, including myself, your dad and Wally. This past week you have also learnt to walk along the furniture 🤦‍♀️ You now fit in a mixture of 00 and 000 clothing. You must weigh around the 9kg mark as you’re getting rather heavy to carry. 
We had our first hospital visit (everything’s fine) 
Sleeping has been rather average but we are hopefully improving now. No teeth just yet but fingers crossed it’s soon 🤞🏻
You are now in a car seat which you like a lot more than the capsule. 
You’ve learnt how to feed wally whilst in your high chair 🤦‍♀️
You love drinking from your supply cup, strawberries, rusk’s, sweet potato and apparently banana 🤷🏻‍♀️ Swimming lessons are going great as you haven’t cried in a month 🙌🏻 We love watching your little personality grow, you are the funniest, most temperamental, intelligent, cheekiest boy I’ve ever know .

  • Taken from @kicks.count this is so important, I’m not a midwife, I’m a nurse but I think this is so important! My midwife was so good and would come to see me if I felt like Elise wasn’t moving as much, didn’t help that my placenta was at the front so didn’t feel things as much as others, so was extra careful. Kicks count, don’t be afraid to speak to your midwife or maternity unit even if you are only slightly concerned!! When I was in work, I thought I didn’t feel any movement all day, probably because I was really busy seeing patients, so after work when I thought about it, I spoke to my midwife and she was more than happy to check me out. 
Don’t be scared of healthcare professionals, they are trained so well to look after you and your baby, give you advice and most of all reassurance!

Knowing how to measure this split or abdominal separation is a super helpful way for us to be able to manage our diastasis recti repair and feels empowering to be able to frequently measure the gap to see if your efforts are paying off and if you're doing the exercises correctly 💫

Diastasis recti is measured by the number of finger spaces that fit in between the two rectus abdominis muscle bellies. Check out our measurement guide which is pretty straight forward:
Normal = 1 finger space separation or less.
Diastasis recti = a separation or gap of 2 or more finger spaces or a distance of 25 mm (just less than 1 inch)
Extreme diastasis recti = a very large separation of greater than 4 finger spaces.

Here's how to check:

▼ GET YOUR AB GAP ON ▼
• Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor
• Place fingers just below the sternum
• Lift head off the floor
• Work your way down to the pubic bone
• Note where the widest separation is, the length of the separation and the depth
• The deeper and softer the tissue is the longer it can take to heal.
