The genus name Mycena comes from the ancient Greek μύκης (múkēs) meaning “mushroom”.
The species epithet cyanocephala comes from the ancient Greek κυάνεος (kuáneos) meaning “dark blue”; and the Latin -cephala meaning “headed”.
I love etymology!! ❤🍄 .
This waste of breath and flesh named Francis Martinez tried to rob the Kingpin in front of Safeway in Ashland yesterday using a pair of scissors. Ashland Police Department DID NOT arrest, be careful out there Ashland peeps.
M. esculenta mycelia is able to bind to and inhibit the effects of furanocoumarins, chemicals found in grapefruit that inhibit human cytochrome p450 enzymes and are responsible for the "grapefruit/drug" interaction phenomenon.
FUNGI !!☺️🍄Ok, so it may only be some dried and common ink caps, but look at them! A family of them huddled by a wooden step. And youngsters pushing through! Adorable! And made me very happy this evening ☺️🍄🤗
A short break from the morels. Tricholoma gausapatum, specimens found in a grassy area with few pine trees (Pinus nigra var. calabrica) a few days ago. April 19, 2019. Volcano Etna. Italy, Sicily region.
I'm also a myco-enthusiast! 🍄I wander and find fungi, and then try to identify them for kicks.
ID: Amanita aprica. Second specimen(s) found, different location, near edge of old road. Inedible
June 2018 I wrote a blurb about Amanita aprica, page 14. 🍄http://www.svims.ca/newsletter.htm
