Can I get a 🔥in the comments if anyone else is feeling burnt out?👩🚒
Phew. These last two months have been EXHAUSTING.
Some months require a little extra hustle, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't perhaps push myself a little TOO hard this time.
And it got me thinking about my old friend burnout.
This isn't my first time dealing with it, but I'll tell you what—it doesn't get easier. Thankfully, what does get easier is knowing the signs (exceptionally tired, more headaches/stomachaches/whatever your body's go-to distress signal is, a feeling of dread when you sit down to do your work).
And fortunately, I also know how to stop it in its tracks now—so that I can get on with the things I actually need to do instead of being a slave to it. If you're starting to feel those symptoms, save this post and please, implement these strategies so that you're not a walking zombie! 🧟♀️
✅Take a break. Seriously. The cure to burnout and overwhelm isn't to power through, it's to start enjoying life and remember why you're fighting for it all in the first place. Don't tell me you don't have time—make this a priority.
✅Second, you're going to make a plan. Get out your pen and paper and start jotting down all the things you want to do over the next 6 months. Try to focus on the things that actually move the needle. IE: a tour, a new release, a fresh marketing strategy. Then, pick just ONE thing that will move the needle the MOST and focus on that
✅Third, make a goal for each month that gets you closer to that ONE goal. For example, if you want to tour in the new year, you make October is about routing and November is about finding venues, etc. Keep it attainable.
✅Fourth, revise and execute. Dedicate one day at the end of each month to see how you did. This isn't so you can judge yourself, it's so that you can revise the coming months as needed.
What do you think—is that do-able?
AVATAR 3D! 😱🎥 Surround yourself with people who support your passions! This past weekend, one of my violinist friends, @justlisag 🎻, invited me to the Grand Opening of the newly renovated theater at The Directors Guild. What were we viewing? AVATAR IN 3D! This masterfully produced film was recreated in 3D just for this occasion, and was introduced by Michael Mann! He excitedly told us about all of the technical aspects of the renovations and the partnership with Dolby to bring an impeccable sonic experience to the audience at the Guild. This screenwriter is honored to have been a part of a truly inspiring afternoon! #believe#imagine#create#directorsguildofamerica#avatar3d#screenwriter#filmindustry#musicindustry#useyourgifts#theblueviolin

The face you make when the engineer asks “who’s got next in the booth.” 🤔👹🥶
is a love story about Kerala, capturing the lucid journeys of singer Sherrin Varghese & actor @shruthymenon across the length & breadth of Kerala.
In a never-before-seen video with stunning locations and visuals of Kerala, this couple independently check-in their photos on the map of a Kerala GPS app, leaving alphabetical clues in the shape of a "pookalam" at vantage tourist destinations across all 14 districts for each other.

The T.J. Martell Foundation family is heartbroken at the loss our of dear friend Phran Galante, who passed away today after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer over the last several years.
She raised hundreds of thousands of dollars through her work on the annual @musiccitytennis Invitational, helping the event become a cornerstone of the hospital’s funding efforts. In 2017, while serving as honorary co-chair, she was recognized by the event with the MCTI Outstanding Service Award and the MCTI Sportsmanship Award (receiving the latter for a second time) for her many years of service as co-chair, silent auction chair and tournament player.
Almost immediately upon receiving her own diagnosis, Phran began helping friends and even strangers who were beginning their own journey with cancer, lending an ear, offering support and spending time with them. She went on-camera, sharing her voice and personal experience with the public on behalf of the T.J. Martell Foundation and its work to fund cancer research. “As each day goes by, we get closer and closer to a cure,” she said with conviction, giving hope to others through her own determination and fight to keep the disease at bay.
Funds will be directed through the T.J. Martell Foundation to support lung cancer research in the laboratory of Dr. Christine Lovly at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. The link is in our profile if you wish to donate. May she rest in peace.
