Sometimes, we get so perfectionistic that the first idea that comes to mind is never accepted as the best idea or as an idea that should be left untouched.
We just refuse to go along with the first ideas simply because they came to mind too quick, according to our own judgement.
If you recognize this while making music, most likely your mind/thoughts just can’t deal with the fact that almost no thought was put into writing a certain lyric or coming up with a melody.
Because of this, if and when you release those songs you’ll still have doubts of certain melodies or lyrics. But then if the song ends up performing really well it'll be that same melody or lyric that changes people’s lives when they hear it cuz it connects with them 100%. Wasn’t that the purpose to begin with?
Let me know in the comments how you cope with overthinking while making music.
I have some much love and respect for the people that supported me in the great success of my benefit concert❤. An undying appreciation for all those that are standing by me making my dream a reality! It means the world.
Apparently I’ve been listening to music on Spotify since 2011. So my my “artist of the decade” feels pretty freaking accurate with that many years.
Honestly lit up my face seeing it was Jack’s Mannequin. I don’t even know when I first dove into the Everything in Transit record, but I’m so happy to have continued listening to all of the @amnthewilderness records year after year, including new ones under a new name.
After maybe 10 years of playing guitar, I saw the 10 year anniversary tour of Everything in Transit and bought an electric piano the next day.
Cheers to another decade.
Definitely missed day 3, so here’s belated Day 3 of the 10-day Performer/Artist Challenge. I was nominated by Julia Heinen. (I know it’s supposed to be no explanation, but this was after we wrapped our recording session at Glass House last week.)
Every day, select an image from a day in the life of a Performer/Artist - a photo from a day you felt fierce or a memorable moment you've had during a performance/show, and post it without a single explanation, then nominate somebody to take the challenge. That’s 10 days, 10 Performance photos, 10 nominations and 0 explanations. Be active, be positive, be passionate... Raise Awareness of the Arts. I nominated @mary_m_cervantes 😄
