  • Пятничное оптимистическое
⠀

  • The beginning of a bean 🍃 🌱 🌿 these beautiful blush pink pastel beauties are hanging on the vine, putting on their best display whilst awaiting a friendly pollinator to visit and send them on their way to become what they are destined to be. Beans provide an abundance of flowers and food, safe and dense habitat and they help enrich your soil with nitrogen so they are the perfect plant for your garden. Make use of their height and create an arch way, play with your creations and try something new. There is no wrong way to plant beans as long as they have lots of sun, something to climb up and water once or twice a week. Easy peasy! On these trellises I have purple king beans, green beans and snake beans. They are happy planted all together and getting messy!

  • #rosepeony #blooming comes after the tree peonies. Although most Australian bulbs are said to be fungally affected and the resulting annual shrub perhaps not as impressive(?) as a semideciduous tree, these from #mygarden and the #yellowpeony from Wombat Hill, smell as #delicatelyfloral

  • Birds of Paradise 💛
Mum is always cutting these beauties out of the front garden and putting them in vases around the house. Except these huge ones have grown too high to reach. How cool are they?!

  • . . . the Parrot, better called the Dragon,
Ah, that’s a pranking feat of fantasy,
Swirling as crazy plumes of the macaw,
Green flounced with pink, and fringed, and topple-heavy,
A tipsy flower, lurching with the fun
Of its vagary. Has it strayed and fallen
Out of the prodigal urn, the Dutchman’s canvas

  • Yesterday I found myself down a google rabbit hole. My search? English gardens and stately homes.
It was during my “research” that I wondered - is this the exact moment that I’ve suddenly become middle-aged? Or have I been watching too much Downton Abbey and the Crown and the Anglophile within me has taken over? Or am I, in fact, just following curiosity in a quest to live my most joyful + fulfilled life?
Either way, I loved every second, and maybe it’s time for less analysis behind why I do things and more just *being*. Simply for the fun of it.

  • ☘️Just recently potted this Jade plant cutting, generously donated by my sister-in-law @saba5aeed. ☺️ It must have been growing in the ground for at least 10-15 years because the plant had grown to over 1.5 metres tall!
•
I love this particular branch because it almost has a weeping look to it. And the already thick, mature trunk makes it look like a small tree.
•
It’s so easy to propagate this plant from a cutting. Take a cutting at least 8-10cm from the original plant. Then allow this to dry out completely, about 1-2 weeks. Add rooting hormone to the end to be planted, then plant in a cacti and succulent mix. This should be available already mixed at your local garden centre.
•
Water sparingly until plant takes root and then only when soil is dry to touch. I water mine about once every 1-2 weeks.
