Happy FRIYAY!!! 💙 We started demo on our stairs leading to the bungalow yesterday (see stories) and we are waiting for the tile to arrive which is scheduled for next week! Today we will be waterproofing the stairs to prep for the tile and will be sharing that process in our stories. Excited to see the outdoor space all come together! 🙌🏻 Our outdoor showers and being finalized and now we just have to figure out the outdoor plants. We are kind of stumped... do you have any favorites? Have a great Friday! #cottageandseacasa
So, a few of weeks back, I decided to paint my previously white fireplace black (when left alone with a new tin of paint I simply cannot be held responsible for my actions). Once I'd finished had a mini wobble (possibly an understament) and decided I needed to carry the blackness around the rest of the room.
I picked up some black frames from @therangeuk and treated myself to a couple of poster books by the wonderful Katie Scott. Beautiful prints that have the colour on one side and a black and white labelled version on the reverse.
I decided on the black and white versions for my neutral living room (I got my knickers in a twist over this as well because the coloured versions are just so stunning). Anyway, flowers, plants, birds and bugs are all really my thing and I love bringing elements of nature into my home. So I'm really quite pleased with the end result.
There are six prints on display altogether and they've cost me around £5 each - which fits my silver shoe string budget nicely!
Mr. Macbeth and I got a lot done last night!
We got these awesome brick panels hung. Don’t worry...they aren’t staying like that. We went with this because that wall was so damaged and the thought of doing more drywall made hubs cringe. I plan to do the #germanschmear technique on the wall. It’ll hide the seams and make it look so great. I plan to start that process tonight. Yay!

For Assignment 5, we were tasked with creating a light plan for the newly renovated ground floor of the 1950s build from Module 4.
Growing up as a Northerner, I think there’s an unwritten rule in every household that under NO circumstances should “the big light” EVER be used. It’s there for decorative purposes only. So with that mindset I decided to include “the big light” but have some smaller, less offensive lighting in each area of the home. We can see this in the kitchen/dining/living area, where I’ve also opted for dimmer switches to alter the ambience of each area.

For my fourth module at @theinteriordesigninstitute we were tasked with re-designing a client’s current ground floor. Our client wanted something more open, so she could enjoy spending time with her children whilst preparing meals for the family.
In order to meet the brief I decided to change the location of most of the current rooms, relocating the kitchen, dining room and living room to the eastern side of the home. By removing the walls, this opened up the three main rooms of the home. I altered the kitchen space to house a small breakfast bar as well as a more formal dining area. With the client having two children, I decided to include the living room in the open space, whereby the children could happily enjoy leisure time (TV watching, etc) while still maintaining proximity to their mother while cooking.
Tiles are both durable and versatile. With the same design available in various textures, you can continue the look of your indoor flooring outdoors as well, as in this project. Choose from a wide variety of tiles at riceLAB.⠀

Coral done right 😍 we especially love the subtle rose gold/copper finishes, the cool tones of the carpet, and the coral and maroon combo with the light grey sofa. What a beautiful space! Happy Friday everyone 〰️ #theessenceofhome ✨ Shop our furniture and decor. Link in bio
