#HappyNationalPicnicDay - Did you know @napacellarswine is 1 out of only 20 wineries in the Napa Valley that allows visitors to bring outside food and enjoy their picnic area? This is the perfect place to bring your fur babies, enjoy a bottle of @napacellarswine Sauvignon Blanc, and relax amongst the beautiful vineyards.
@NapaCellarsWine is an established brand that produces balanced and delicious wines with high-quality fruit and predominately single varietal. Did I mention that they don’t use any fining agents that contain animal products, which means it’s vegan!
What are your favorite picnic snacks and what wine varietal would you bring?
📸 Thank you @jbjpictures for capturing a beautiful picnic day in the city
The wine process is pretty straightforward right?? You grow the grapes, harvest them, ferment the juice, age the wine, bottle it, and sell it!! Am I ready to run my own winery? Who wants to help Napavalleytip?
Happy Tuesday to all of you and hope to have you on my team!! (J/k) 🍷🍇 🤓🙋🏻♀️
CBD AVA? - With new CBD products hitting the market everyday, we often get questions about cannabis-infused wine and whether we might see rows of White Tahoe Cookies amongst Beckstoffer CS.
The short answer, no.
From a legal perspective, there are many high hurdles. Wine is governed by the Alcohol Control Board versus California Bureau of Cannabis Control - add in federal state law and Napa County that both prohibit commercial growing and sales.
From a viticultural prospective, the direct intense sun, rocky soil and Sulphur treatments that help produce outstanding wine prove inhospitable for marijuana plants. However, there are plenty of hillsides and mountains that could be utilized in a similar manner to the famed Humboldt growing region.
As for wine itself, it currently has to be dealcoholized by law before infusing with THC. One fast-growing upstart doing so is @rebelcoastwinery distributed in CA. Though there are many others on the market as well and more to come. We’re planning to taste a few soon but haven’t tried any yet - stay tuned.
All this said, Napa certainly isn’t going to miss out on this burgeoning trend (and gold rush), nor ignore the next generation of young wine drinkers. It just won’t happen fast and will more likely manifest in the near-term as a combined experience with cannabis-infused foods paired with wine (we’re already seeing specialty tour planners with this offering @tso.sonoma ).
So, whether you’re a kush or Cab person (or both), it will be interesting to see how cannabis impacts the wine industry as both a threat and opportunity. Please do share your experience with any infused wines you may have tried- we’d love to hear!
BABY GRAPES? - With bud break done in the Valley, the next critical phase in fruit development will happen during May and June. What you’re seeing here are pre-bloom clusters that will eventually turn into beautiful bunches of fruit.
Every little nodule will actually bloom and flower, then self-pollinate to form grapes. Yes, no bees needed for grape vines! This phase is called “fruit set”. However, if we were to get a cold snap, flash rain shower or high winds during this process, “shatter” (or coulure in French) would occur as it did in 2015. This very unfortunate event means flowers are damaged and can’t self-pollinate (or even fail to bloom if too cold) resulting in clusters having green modules instead of luscious grapes.
Thankfully this is a rare occurrence, so fingers crossed we have an uneventful Spring and Mother Nature shines upon the 2019 season. 🙏🌞

Hello my Wine Lovers! Today is not only National Wine Day, it is also International Chardonnay Day. I am celebrating with @ClosdeVal Estate Sauvignon Blanc.
The family of Clos du Val has been making wine for centuries and in Napa Valley since 1972. That’s a world of experience!
This brilliant Sauvignon Blanc is aromatic and lush. Think tropical fruit, swaying palm trees and your island in the sea. Bright citrus frames the pineapple and the stunning acidity. Well balanced and with incredible fruit. It’s a moment in Paradise.
The grapes were grown in their State Lane Vineyard in Yountville. Aged 5 months in stainless steel tanks. You’d never know it by the taste, but this weighs in at 14.1% alcohol. A true beauty.
You can grab it on their website… cosduval.com. Cheers my Wine Lovers!
