#cultura , #magia , #tradizioni
Yesterday in recognition of #nationalsorryday and for #schoolreadiness we played an Aboriginal Art memory card game. Each of the pairs had a piece of art work which had been done by famous Indigenous artists. There was a variety of dot painting, different Australian landscapes and native Australian animals.
Today is National Sorry Day in Australia ...where we remember our most powerful leader apologising for the acts of our Government and community in actively undermining a beautiful culture by removing children from Mothers as a formal approved strategy... I was asked to coordinate a design of this memorial for some of the affected people when the apology was made.... It’s simple and humble but it is unique and symbolises a breeze of change. #nationalsorryday#design#landscapedesign#landscapearchitecture#garden142
To say I’m excited to create and teach an Indigenous unit of work is an understatement • trying to embed as much Aboriginal perspective as I can into 2019 🌿

My animation from 2018. I wonder how many more years I’ll be posting this. How sad that our 1st people think of today, Australia Day, as Sorry Day. The day they survived. Let’s find a day we can ALL celebrate 🎉
I am proud to be Australian and celebrate this beautiful country I call home. As a single white female I live in a place with no boundaries or repression, I have absolute freedom.
This feeling of freedom around Australia day always draws my thoughts to the first custodians of the land and how the infliction of colonial forces caused such bloodshed and trauma to the indigenous people.
We need to keep educating ourselves and #bridgethegap and come together as a nation to heal the pasts wrongs #nationalsorryday#changethedate .

Losing grip of her mother’s hand, she found herself trapped in a sea of legs...Maggie crawled frantically to find her Mother. Hot tears ran down her cheeks”. A book about #NationalSorryDay . It’s on 26th May each year. A day to commemorate the mistreatment and displacement of Aboriginal children from their families. #socialwork#childrensmentalhealth
