// another photo of the kings lake - this time from the boat trip to the peninsula with its little church St. Batholomä - can you spot it?during the boat trip there is a demonstration of the trumpet echo at the imposting east wall of mount Watzmann - a bit of a tourist thing, but nevertheless impressive! 🎺
arriving on the island I made my way directly up to the ice chapel. it's not long, but not easy due to bad signage, misleading footsteps and super slippery snow.
when I reached the top, I was disappointed to find that the cave is buried under avalanches. further avalanches could already be heard on the way up and could be seen with one's own eyes. although they were quite small, they sounded like loud thunder and didn't let me take a step closer to the buried ice chapel.
nevertheless, I definitely want to come again this year to finally see the magical place from the inside - then combined with a visit to Obersee, which unfortunately is only reachable by boat in summer. 🏔💙
After sunrise I went for a walk out on the rocks at high tide. The edge of these rocks drop off steeply and a heavy swell rolls onto the headland. As I was walking along I noticed a pair of turtles calmly drifting along, heading towards Kewana beach. All of a sudden a set of enormous waves rolled in and crashed on the rocks, nearly sweeping me off my feet. I looked out to see the turtles, they were frantically pacing out towards the ocean. Another large wave rolled in, not as large as the first. I checked again to see the whereabouts of the pair, but I couldn't see them. I figured it would be wise at that point to follow the turtles lead and retreat from the edge as to avoid going for a dip with them on the other side of the rocks.
Oh hey there 💁🏼♀️ if you’re new here, let me introduce myself! I’m Jess, coffee drinking, nature loving, adventure seeker ✨🍃 I’d love to say that I’m this confident and outgoing individual but truth be told, I’m the kind of woman who stands back and let’s everybody else talk while I listen. I’m confident in the way that I encourage others to go after their dreams while I strive after my own. I love nothing more than ordering in, cuddling up with my furbabes and watching Netflix with my love 🥰 weekends are usually spent catching up on life admin, coffee drinking and exploring new spots. I can be spontaneous as long as I know all the details 🤦🏼♀️ I’ll try everything once and believe that no decision is the wrong one because even if something doesn’t work out the way you planned, you can make another decision to change it. Not everybody gets my vibe but that’s ok, I’m here for quality vs quantity ❤️ I’m so glad you’re here!

Let us call out racism and spread Aroha to our friends and neighbours - this was taken 15/3/19. Like our nations response to this act of terror my gorgeous sister @falents wedding is also helping me reflect and remember there can be beauty and love during such a devastating time ❤️
