I spent a couple of days over the Easter weekend in beautiful Jasper National Park. Saturday, I left Jasper and drove south through the Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise in Banff National Park. This 232Km drive through the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Park Heritage Site is absolutely stunning. I cried, gasped, laughed, and smiled all the way. I dashed out here and there taking as many photos as possible while meeting other keen amateur photographers who agreed that we'd be lucky to finish the trip in one day 😅 Well regretfully I did finish after approx 9 hrs. It's one of those places you never grow tired of and where you never want the day to end. I will be heading back there in a few weeks to hike and visit some gorgeous emerald lakes and when its safe for the side roads to reopen.
We lost 3 great mountaineers last week in Banff National Park, Jess Riskelley, David Lana and Hansjörg Auer. They were caught in an avalanche whilst climbing the face of Howse Peak on the Icefields Parkway. RIP❤
Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here and I’m super jazzed for all the adventures that will fill my weekend, and the big change in our lives that is going to be for the better.
Anyone else have a jammed packed weekend planned?
#vistekfeaturedrepost | #repost@cangeo We are thrilled to reveal the winners of our 2018 Canadian Wildlife Photography of the Year competition, hosted in partnership with the #museumofnature ! • A curious raccoon scopes out photographer @paulbawby’s deck in Gatineau, Que. Paul says, “I live in an urban environment not too far from Gatineau Park and as such, I get frequent park visitors: rabbits, squirrels, skunks, raccoons and even on one occasion a bear. One rainy May afternoon, I looked through the patio door and noticed a good-looking raccoon. I closed the curtain so as to not disturb my visitor, got my camera and slowly crouched down to get at eye level. As I watched, the raccoon put its two front paws on my deck, getting ready to climb up, and I managed to snap a few frames at just that moment.” This image is the honourable mention in the Urban Wildlife category. • Can Geo gratefully acknowledges the support of our prize sponsors, #vistek and #nikoncanada . #raccoon#urbanwildlife#wildlifephotography#canadianwildlife#backyardvisitor#sharecangeo
