  • IS FRUIT INFUSED WATER HEALTHY?
I personally feel better when I drink more water and there is a good chance you will, too. And depending one what you’ve used to infuse the water, you could be setting yourself up for bonus nutrients🍓
Fresh fruit, herbs, and some vegetables make great flavors for water. Citrus, berries, melons, fresh ginger, and mint are all good choices as well. You can float the ingredients freely in water or use an infusion pitcher.
Double tap if you love this idea💕
We would love to hear what’s you favorite infusion? Comment down below and share your thoughts 💭 —————————————————

  • What do you do with your food scraps? 🍊🍋🥕⁣
~⁣
FOOD SCRAPS⁣
We keep two glass jars in the freezer plus another big container for other food scraps to be composted. This system means we don't need a plastic-lined garbage bin in the kitchen. We put stock-worthy scraps in one jar. We've learnt with practice that not all food scraps are good for making stock! But the ends of carrots, onion, garlic, leek, etc are gold. Broccoli and kale scraps - not so good!⁣
We pop citrus peels in the other jar (lemon, lime and orange). When it's full we fill the jar with white vinegar, put it in the pantry for a few weeks, strain it and dilute the mixture 50:50 with water and pour into a spray bottle! Voila! Natural and effective multipurpose spray!⁣⁣
Double tap for no waste💕

.

  • Probably when you first heard about #zerowaste you thought this lifestyle is crazy!

What about my favorite ice cream or where do I get my shampoo or shower soap or detergent?

And we totally understand you)

When we just started we thought it’s going to be an immense task since it’s hard to find many products without plastic... We usually shopped at Trader Joe’s (it’s just right on the corner from our house) and we really liked that store.
It has some vegan options, the quality of the products is satisfying
However after the movie “Plastic ocean” by Craig Leeson that we’ve seen about 2 months ago we opened
our eyes to all the horror at the retail stores.
It actually looks like a nightmare if you imagine that almost all of these packages will go to landfill. ( you know that only about 9% is recycled , right)

So we decided that we don’t want to participate in choking fish and polluting our home anymore and started to look for alternative ways of grocery shopping.

We searched some information online and firstly we suspected that all these zero waste tricks are so difficult.
You need to carry your own bags and containers, you have to get them, some of the produce like tofu, frozen fruit, almond milk are almost impossible to find unpacked and we thought it’s going to cost us more money.
So, we definitely had some fears from the begging and of course this took us some time to turn into it a habit ( we’re still working on it tho, day by day)

Here’s some tips for start off:
🔺Focus on one material ( we started with the most spread and dangerous one - plastic)
🔺Stop using to go boxes and single use utensils or plastic bags ( get your own)👹
🔺When shopping try to get as less plastic wrapped things as possible but don’t punish yourself if you can’t find something just get the regular one BUT do a homework: try to find where you can get it without plastic ( if not how you can MAKE IT)
That’s about it!
So please don’t be afraid if you’re just at the very beginning of your journey...
and don’t punish yourself if you’re not totally zero waste yet.
You’re already making a sense for this world!
