The Lives of Mount Druitt Youth | 2010 | Documentary | By @saadventures87
Come with Saad as he explores the face of Mount Druitt never seen by outsiders.
A look into the various lives of youth across this misconceived suburb that has built up a notorious reputation of crime and drug's.
Saad unravels life stories that go against all the stereotypical branding of the suburb, as the young youths tell of their experiences in regards to Money, Drugs, Crime & Social Conflicts whilst growing up in an area looked down upon by many.
An intimate Journey that aims to change the perspective of any viewer.
This project is touching on a sensitive topic that is widely spoken of yet never documented.
The documentary aims at shedding a new light on a suburb that is enveloped in the darkness of supposed crime and drugs.
Breaking old stereotypes and giving new insights on everyday individuals within the suburb is a start to cleaning out old perspectives.
A stepping stone into a long journey that will take many years, this documentary is willing to uncover the truth that so many are unaware of, that it simply isn't "All bad in Mount Druitt". I believe that changing just one individual is success and a starting point.

I know you wanted a Princess but that's only part of who I am. I'm not the perfect daughter, I screw up a lot so it really helps to have such a perfect Dad.
The moment I was born you came out of the room and everyone asked you "How's the baby?" "She's really ugly!"
So Day 1 I had you scolded at by the nurses cause I drank up a whole bottle in one shot- that should've been a warning sign you know. I mean, no wonder you started losing your hair since I was born!
I was drama at age 2 when I'd be in the car with mom safely buckled up and you passed us by waving from your motorbike.
Who could ever cope with a little girl going around on a skateboard with a tutu on and a baseball bat? I know you tried your best to dress me at the finest, but I had my very own strong sense of fashion already set up with all my wounds and bruises. "How'd you get that?"
"I don't know" "OK, how was school?" "Good" "Good! What did you do?" "Nothing, that's why it was good!" So we'd hang out in our garden playing off a few shots of whatever having our chats after dinner, or we'd gather some junk food and watch something on TV whether it was wrestling, forumla1, football or a movie. Or we'd simply blast some music full volume and start monkeying around the room in our silly dance.
