Geriatric patients can be a challenge (This is an 84 year old male).
They often have thinner skin, less connective tissue, and their veins tend to blow much more easily.
When possible, use a smaller gauge needle, and advance the catheter much slower. If you meet resistance, “float” the catheter in by connecting your tubing and flushing with saline while advancing the catheter. This will open the valve that is causing the resistance and allow the catheter to pass through it.

Show Love. Have Courage. Hold Honor. Sigma Theta Tau International. @sigmanursing So excited to have been inducted tonight! I can’t believe how fast this journey has gone. We moved to San Diego last February - and I can’t believe I’m like 7 months from being done with my second bachelors - in nursing - like what? I’m going to be a RN like this time next year!! Crazy! #thelittlethings#nursingschool#nurse#sigmathetatau

To all my followers, I love you guys! To all my new followers, thank you for following along! I’m just a nursing student, wife, pretty much mother, fashion blogger, and occasionally I share my obsession with doing hair. If you started following recently, you may not know it, but I talk about nursing school a lot😳 so you’ve come to the right place if you are interested in nursing, or just interested in following a girl trying to be modest in this crazy world. 🙈
I know you guys have heard a lot about my “last’s” of nursing school. But you all. It makes me SO happy! Today was my last day of clinical EVER. Okay this makes me happier than my last day of class ever😂
I have told you guys my story, what happened to me and how I got back into nursing. But I’ve never told you my WHY. The question I’m going to answer is “why do you wanna be a nurse?” I have 3 reasons I want to share. .
1. I feel like my compassion, and, some don’t like to admit, but I’m a people pleaser. A lot of people believe that’s not really a good way to be. But as a nurse, you BETTER be a people pleaser. We gotta please our patients y’all. I love the feeling of doing little things for a patient, or finding out what they need and providing that need.. it makes me the happiest. No greater feeling then at the end of your clinical day when you have a patient that tells you they appreciate the little things you’ve done that day. So, people pleaser it is!
2. My aunt. She is amazing, an RN-BSN, a current NP student and I’ve pretty much looked up to her since birth. She feels more like a sister to me than an aunt. She has pushed me, give me some wonderful advice and inspired me to want to be a nurse just like her. She is so loving and compassionate. I want to be that kind of nurse. As a nurse, a student, or just a human we ALL need role models and she is that person for me. .
3. My momma. She is no longer with me, but she inspired my heart more than anything. She had a dream for me, and she kept telling me to never give up on being a nurse. When she was in the hospital her nurses were amazing. They inspired me to want to help someone just like her. Praise God for wonderful nurses!

My FAVOURITE MOISTURISER! ❤️🙌🏽👌🏽 The TEBISKIN Cera-Boost Face cream aims to act as a multi-level emollient, providing nutrients and hydration, and contain nine ceramides which aim to build a dense lipid structure to boost the epidermis.
Skinmed claims the product is ideal for sufferers of eczema, psoriasis, acne, dry skin and hyper-reactive skin as these patients are more likely to have ceramide issues.
Ceramides are lipid (fat) molecules found in high concentrations within cell membranes in the upper layer of the skin. They hold skin cells together, forming a protective layer that plumps the skin and holds moisture. They also act as a barrier against bacteria and environmental pollutants.🙌🏽🔥 It feels really nourishing and has a lovely texture!
@revival.academy 3 day Laser courses are always swamped with women from all walks of life wanting a quick career change.
This course was no different, we had a nurse who is trying to get away from the hard NHS grind, a bored mother at home who is ready for some stimulation, a beauty therapist just finishing her level 2, an experienced beauty therapist who wants to earn more money and a translator who wants to open her own laser clinic.
Wow, how amazing to help them achieve their dreams.

Vein visualization is an innovative technology that assists healthcare professionals with finding the best veins for IV starts and blood draws. Also known as vein mapping, this technology creates a real-time visual “map” of the veins on the surface of the skin.
How Does the Technology Work?
Vein visualization (also known as vein illumination) uses Near-infrared (NIR) imaging for detecting veins. This proven technology enables accurate visualization of the veins under the skin.
