  • Agnistambhasana or Fire Log Pose is the best representation of calm for me. In the stillness of this pose we stretch hips and groins, stimulating the abdominal organs and calming the mind.
DO YOU KNOW THE MYTHOLOGY BEHIND AGNISTAMBHASANA (FIRE LOG POSE)? In the Rig Veda, fire is personified as Agni. Agni is said to be present in the fire of the sun, in the stars, the lightning. He is in the digestive fire in our bellies and in the pillar of smoke that links us with the gods and this world with the next.
The ritual of “building a fireplace” was the centerpiece of ancient Vedic civilization. Fire is the agent of sacrifice and transformation, and the sacred fire altar was a portal between the worlds, a threshold place where prayers and sacrificial offerings could pass from earth to heaven and blessings could descend from heaven to earth—all through the medium of the fire (agni) and its logs (stambha). -Yoga International -

  • We are multidimensional beings, our energy body also influences our physical health and well being. As blood circulates through our physical body, also subtle energy (called in Sanskrit prana) flows through our human energy field. I am currently crafting a unique program able to target and improve the functionality of the three dimensions: body, mind and soul. I’m about to release my new web site with all the details but if you are interested to know more about my holistic program text me here! 👍 📷 @paullloydnunn

It is such a horrible feeling waking up to truly heartbreaking news😭. Notre Dame, you were one of my most awe moments in my life, I have loved this place since I was a little child (watching Disney’s the hunchback of Notre Dame). I am devastated that such history, such beauty was destroyed just like that, but I am sure this is just a matter of time and soon Notre Dame will awe us again. Stay strong Paris, we are with you🙏🏻.

TANA | YOGA 🌙: 👁A few things I’ve learnt over the past year👁

Apologizing for behavior that you would like to change does not change your behavior. Your ACTIONS are the sum total of who you are as a person + words are meaningless if you do not follow through with what you said you would.

Some friendships are temporary and there to teach you something about yourself.
You do not need to live up to anyone else’s expectations or ideas of who you should be, it is more than fine that they don’t get what you’re trying to do (yet) so long as you have a strong vision and keep your head down.

Nothing is more important that prioritizing what you want to create. You will not make yourself or anyone happy by procrastinating.

Procrastination is a evil hairy man eating caterpillar that eats away at your dreams whom you must learn to lock outside your headspace, bedroom and life.

Dancing makes me feel like a goddess on steroids whether at a hip hop club or in my bedroom, it’s soul food and everyone should do it.

If everyone had a dog there would be 700% fewer depressed people.

You are responsible for your thoughts, that become things, that attract those subsequent people into your life.

Giving people compliments feels so good. Give that shit away like free cake it comes around again, always! 📷 trzebinski_sculpture .

  • This week #TriYogaSchool is moving on to stretch out hamstrings even further with Prasarita Padottanasana D or Wide-Legged Forward Bend D⁣
.⁣
.
💙The 3 main principles of forward bending are all at work in this pose.⁣
1. Lengthening the back⁣
2. Stretching the whole back of each leg⁣
3. Drawing the belly in for structural support⁣
.⁣
🔹️The width of your stance really depends on your body type... if you are tall and long limbed like me, you might need to take a bigger step. Shorter legs need a shorter step. Work out which feels "just right" for you. Keep your feet parallel and align your heels.⁣
.⁣
💠For beginners, this forward bend feels a lot deeper than padangusthasana because you are able to widen your legs enough to move your head closer to the mat.⁣
.⁣
🔹️After exiting Prasarita Padottanasana C, keep your hands on your waist. Inhale look up, elongating your spine and exhale lifting your sit-bones away from your heels to fold deep within your pelvis.⁣
.⁣
🔹️Grab your big toes with your peace fingers and hook it with your thumbs.⁣
.⁣
🔹️Draw your belly in and lift your pelvic floor. Inhale again look up (straightening your arms and your spine) and exhale, keeping the length in your spine, enter the completed pose, placing the top of your head to the mat.⁣
.⁣
🔹️Draw your shoulder blades down your spine and align your elbows with your wrists and your head with your arches.⁣
.⁣
🔹️If you able to get your head to the floor, allow gravity to elongate your hamstrings and back muscles as you breathe for 5 long deep breaths.⁣
.⁣
🔹️The release of your hip joints and hamstrings, along with the inner lift of your abdomen integrates the strength and flexibility that we are seeking.⁣

  • BLAME!
.
Does blame feature in your life? Maybe you’ve blamed others, or yourself? It definitely featured heavily in my life. I blamed everyone, myself, my parents, my siblings, my work, my partner. Things just weren’t going the way I wanted them to and at the same time I was deeply unhappy. Most of the time I was either living in the past or worrying about the future.
.
It is extremely easy to find an excuse as to why something hasn’t gone the right way and I just couldn’t make things work. Even when I blamed myself I was just lost in excuses of not being capable or good enough. I didn’t even know how to ask for help and even if I did I somehow couldn’t really accept it because they didn’t even understand what I was going through.
.
The illusion just gets bigger and bigger till things just spiral. In order to find the stability I desperately needed I had to assume some sort of responsibility. If I was going to spend the rest of my life sitting in blame and excuses nothing would ever change. No one can assume your life for you, no one can heal you or solve your problems, there is no magic wand! YOU have the power and magic within to do all of the changing and healing.
.
Once I recognised that I had to take ownership of my life and be responsible for myself, shifts occurred. The blame slowly started to diminish, the past became deep lessons and the future is there but not my focus. Not only am I healing my relationships with others but the biggest healing is happening with the relationship with myself.
.
I no longer look in the mirror wishing I was someone else. Instead I am learning to honour my soul and body and be in deep gratitude for the gifts it shares with me. This work and practice is continuous, you are never far away from the blame and excuses, they still come up for me. It’s lightened my load, another layer, another mask uncovered. Remember that you are living your life, yes circumstances play a part but we have the strength within to change.

  • ⭐️ #TriYogaSchool ⭐️ Our April focus is on stretching our hamstrings, & our pose for week 3 is Prasarita Padottanasana A or Wide Legged Forward Bend 🎓 As well as stretching the hamstrings, Prasarita Padottanasana A also stretches & lengthens the calves, hips, lower back & spine.
🎓
ALIGNMENT CUES:
#omniyogagirltips
1. Judge your stance based on the length of your legs & the length of your torso - Your feet shouldn’t be too far apart
2. Have the feet parallel & the heels aligned with each other
3. Place the hands on the mat shoulder width apart, & line the fingertips up with the toes
4. Keep your weight forwards on the balls of your feet
5. Engage the legs by pulling up the kneecaps & draw the shoulder blades down the back
6. Reach the top of the head down towards the mat as you reach the sit bones up. Focus on folding from the hip joints
7. Keep the lower belly drawn in & the pelvic floor pulled up
8. The drishti, or gaze, is towards the nose
🎓
Don’t forget to check in with Helen & CeCe for all their tips on Prasarita Padottanasana A 👍

  • “Calming the mind is yoga. Not just standing on the head.”
–Swami Satchidananda
.
A photo can’t depict what we feel inside. The goal of yoga isn’t rooted in the poses. On the surface it may look like it. It’s more about creating space, looking inwards and unblocking what was once stuck. Allowing the energy to flow freely.
.
Not just standing on our heads with this babe.

  • In this talk, Swami Sitaramananda explains how we can 💯increase and conserve our 🌈prana and not lose prana from the 🚀ether element. Swamiji explains that by spending time in 🤐silence and 🤔reflection, not talking and turning inwards, we can increase our 🌸prana. We should avoid too much loose talk, gossip, and 😞negative thinking.

The Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm was established in 1971 in the beautiful 🌸Sierra Nevada foothills outside San Francisco, CA. The 🌿Sivananda Yoga Farm is a peaceful 🦋oasis where people from all over the 🌎world come together to practice 🕉yoga, meditation, and rediscover their 🙏true self.

  • Finding balance, strength and stability in today’s world is a challenging task. Yoga helps to bring us to a place where that is achievable. Spending time connecting with your breath, experiencing each moment and doing so with awareness is part of the practice. . This process impacts on our reactions to life both on and off the mat and often shows it’s benefits in other mysterious ways. It’s not about the gymnastics of postures or extremes In flexibility but It brings us clarity and perspective and calms us so that we can more effectively deal with what life throws at us. Yoga is life and life is yoga. ❤️. • #YogaKnot Day 18
#ParsvaSirsasana
#Padmasana in #Headstand
.
.
This twist definitely required patience and balance as one tried to rotate the #lotuslegs to its maximum edge. Yupe, I worked on not overarching at the low back or thrusting the hips forward; all of these movements can tilt the balance in this inversion.

  • Are you living in the moment???? 🙃
Want to know how to better be present in this moment?
👉
When you are experiencing the need to escape your present situation ACKNOWLEDGE this is happening. When you acknowledge that you want to escape ACCEPT IT. 🤷‍♀️
There is this this unspoken expectation that living in the moment means we have to enjoy each moment. 👉👉👉👉👉BALONEY!!! That is absolutely ridiculous.
👋
Life is made up of so many different elements, so many emotions. Each emotion and experience is an opportunity to grow and learn more.
✔️
GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION to not enjoy every moment. Once we give ourselves permission to feel our feelings in those moments we become more present.
