the other day i drove to the high desert, east of the san gabriels. i sat on a sandstone rock, four stories tall, and thought about life. where to go next, what goals to set, what to eat that night. of long lost friends and new ones. i thought of projects and places, dusty old memories, where i was ten years ago, and where i’ll be ten years from now. it was a productive session, and it doesn’t happen enough, honestly. it’s far too easy to become distracted nowadays. for me, at least. but i’m learning. just takes a little intention, a little focus, simple as that. setting aside time to do nothing, while alone, no phones or wifi, is so very important. always feel much clearer after a good thinking spell..

@tyler.mckay.photos - The snow when we first got to this waterfall was falling so slowly it felt like a slow motion video, there was no wind and big snow flakes creating this stunning view. #earthoutdoors10k
I’ve really been hoping we get some snow here. It’s been 70 degrees and t-shirt weather pretty much all week though so it probably ain’t happening anytime soon. But here’s a picture from last year to get us through until it gets cold again.
We're joining the #1000hoursoutside challenge this year. 🌻🌿🍂🌦 I still need to print out the chart, but I'd estimate were already over 7 hours at half-way through January (which feels a bit behind schedule, but we started off the new year with at least two "sick days"). I know we'll be racking up those hours over the summer. 🤗 "Time is truly the most precious gift we have to give. When we take our kids outside, we give them the gift of being fully present." -Ginny Yurich, founder of the 1000 Hours Outside Challenge

If there’s a chimney within a 10 mile radius, it’s a guarantee that @debras.chenanigans will find it and attempt to climb up it.
Finally getting around to editing my Hueco/Big Bend pics! Stay tuned for some stuff I’m really stoked about.

More stunning Northern Lights in Northern Iceland. I’ve seen them a couple of times now. But they keep amazing me 🇮🇸
I NEEDED THAT!🙌🏼
Only worked an 8 hour shift today which means I got to squeeze in three miles before the sun ran away! .
Hope everyone’s having a great week so far~ getting some fresh air and moving my legs today sure boosted my mood!!🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️
🎂Our amazing little Parkseeker and Junior Ranger is 1️⃣0️⃣ today‼️ We loved the outdoors before he was born, but he brought a new perspective of needing to pass on our love and the understanding that we’re all responsible to protect our public lands. He loves earning Junior Ranger badges, he’s hiked Delicate Arch 2x, all the Mighty 5 parks, several in Arizona and many in California! This has been an incredible decade - we cannot wait to continue exploring with you! ❤️
Who wants this kind of nature therapy?🌴☀
Thank you for a wondrous photo @lenafound ❤

Some places just haunt me in the most incredible way. ~ here’s a small beautiful moment I captured early one morning, before the sun had come up, in Yosemite valley this past fall.

One month until @aravaiparunning’s Black Canyon 100k!! I’m feeling pretty (good). Hehe, that’s a joke about how I got the nickname ‘Pretty Steve.’ I know a lot of you will be there! Who all will be there? Are you feeling ready or pretty (good)? PC 📸 @palindrome_rnr

Saturday we went on a hunt for some snow since it hasn't been cold enough for snow to stay around here, nor have we been able to book the cabin at Mt Hood yet.
My husband knew of some spots in the gorge so we headed to old mans pass where there is a decent sized small hill where the kids can take turns going down.
Arya has been scared of things recently where she doesn't feel safe or in control, so she decided to slide on her butt without the sled on a baby baby hill we went down. Lol wipe left to see.
This was Delilah's first time walking around in snow, so she was not liking it at first but warmed up to the white fluff near the end. 😍❄ Anyone else love the snow?
