The 47,122 acres Mount Adams Wilderness along the west slope of Mount Adams offers an abundance of opportunities for hiking, backpacking, backcountry camping, mountain climbing and equestrian sports. Trails in the wilderness pass through dry east-side and moist-west side forests, with views of Mt. Adams and its glaciers, tumbling streams, open alpine forests, parklands, and a variety of wildflowers among lava flows and rimrocks || Beautiful photo taken by @raymondstiehl || Join us in exploring the Upper Left by tagging your adventures to #upperleftliving || #mountadams#cascades#stars

When Oregon’s economy was struggling, educators in Umatilla worked together to balance reduced budgets. Over the years, Umatilla cut positions and reduced
expenses due to budget constraints. Employees at every level voluntarily took pay freezes and cut paid work days to create the best opportunities for students possible in tough economic times. Today,
Oregon’s economy is strong, yet Oregon is still ranked 29th in the United States for per-student funding.
We made it to Portland early enough to spend the morning people watching. We waited until the world famous Saturday Morning market started and walked by the vendors’ wares with Beau.
It turned out that most of what you should do in Portland is eat, and eat we did. We had giant hamburgers from @tiltitup and finished off with ice cream from @saltandstraw. I don’t think I had been fuller yet on our trip. Oh yeah, and caught all the cool street art including this piece by @jeffsheridan 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Chris caught up with old friends and I made new ones. We enjoyed our time with company, but had to continue our journey down the Pacific coast. You’d think that we would have been able to do it all on this trip, but I do wish we had spent more time in Oregon. If go back, we’ll be at Mt. Hood and cruising down HWY 1!
