Give yourself some extra time if you are doing more than one bedroom and always encourage your children to participate in decluttering if they are old enough (5 years old and up). It helps build life long habits.

  • My personal 10 Tips to Write a Successful To Do List ✔️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Limit it. Feel out how many items you can handle in a day. When my kids were in school, I did nine items; but when they were home, I could only do three. Find the number that works for you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Write it. Each day, write down what you need to accomplish. Clear out mental clutter by putting it on paper. Leave a space between each item to sandwich in higher priorities.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Verb-alize it. Begin each to-do item with an action verb (e.g., pay bills, call Mary, send a birthday card, put away laundry, outline proposal, etc.). Your mind visualizes you in action as you “verb-alize” it and then write it down.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Post it. Keep your to-do list in the same place each day. Whether it’s in your planner, on your kitchen counter or on a sticky note on your computer monitor, keep it anchored in one spot.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5) Refer to it. Refer to your list throughout the day until you are finished. Consider it your personal compass pointing you in the right direction.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
6) Adjust it. Plan your morning to-dos the night before. Before lunch each day, plan your afternoon list.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
7) Check it off. As you complete each item, check it off with a red pen, cross it off or delete it from your computer list.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
8) Practice it. It takes practice to create a list that works one day at a time. Avoid making this a long-term project list. Keep it short and use it to focus on daily tasks only.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
9) Evaluate it. At the end of every day, see what worked and what didn’t. This will help you avoid making the same mistake twice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Swipe ➡️ to see the "before" shot of this deep kitchen drawer I organized for the @mamas_and_minis raffle winner! The winner received 2 hours of complimentary organizing on any small space in her home plus organizing tips/tricks. She chose an unruly kitchen drawer!

The winner found the drawer to be deep and awkward to store things in without all the items becoming jumbled. She was able to let go about 1/3 of the things inside which gave us the opportunity to nicely organize what was left and leave some breathing space in the drawer.

  • This can be a difficult concept to grasp. If we’re talking about feelings and not objects, it’s easier to understand.

When it comes to what we have in our home, there are things we use all the time and others we seldom use, collections we have accumulated over the years, and sentimental things we keep because of the special memories they bring to mind.  When we have too much clutter all around us, we can become overwhelmed by what we possess.  If it gets to that point which many of us have all experienced (unless we’ve really mastered the art of minimalism), it’s time to make a change.

Just like negative feelings that we release, letting go of things we own that are no longer useful and no longer make us happy can be a freeing feeling.  It enables us to find happiness knowing that we have less clutter and more space for ourselves, our home is easier to keep fresh and organized, and we’re providing someone else with something that they can love and use.
.
Try getting rid of at least 7 things this week that are no longer used or loved. (I picked 7 because that’s my lucky number.😊) It’s ok to start small and build from there.  Better to start with something and purge little by little than not at all.

.It can be mind blowing how simple folding techniques can create more space in a drawer or eliminate the need for storage solutions in a closet shelf for example. Folding can create a beautiful aesthetic for those who are on a budget but really wish to create a cohesive and calming look with their fabrics.

I'm a big list maker... but I've got a few rules when it comes to my list. ⠀

1) My active to-do list can be no more than THREE items. yup. three. ⠀
Why? Because your brain need a reward system to help keep you going. If your to-do list is 10, 15, 20 items long; at the end of the day you're never going to feel like you accomplished anything. Set yourself up for success and be smart - start with three items and go from there.⠀
⠀
2) Keep It Simple (Stupid)⠀
The KISS approach has a ton of research behind it. The simpler something is, the better it is; the more likely you are to succeed and the more likely you are to get that endorphin boost and ride the wave to your next task ⠀
⠀
3) Don't Martyr Yourself⠀
Ask yourself if that task really needs to be accomplished today. Do you really need to write that email or can it wait until later, do you really need to do that load of laundry, dishes, make that bed? Sometimes the answer is yes, but sometimes the answer is that what you really need to feed your soul is a good cup of tea and to read a chapter of the book that's been on your bedside table for the last month. ⠀
