  • A bit of honesty for ya: I really had no idea how a month long Flash Sale on my works on paper was going to go. It’s a new thing for me, & I was very nervous to get it going. But it felt like it could be a great thing...I have so many works on paper- most of which have never been photographed or shared before- and I am always making more. Working on paper has become a way to experiment, brainstorm, & warm up, in + out of the studio...and more & more they are becoming an important part of my studio practice.
I also wanted to do a Flash Sale because I want my work to be enjoyed. It’s really important to me. I don’t want work to sit in my flat files and storage racks. I want my work be lived with, worked next to, gazed at, loved. I want my work to be part of your day. That is a big reason I offer payment plans- breaking up the total costs of works- especially large works- can make buying art more possible. Buying art is an investment- and I really want buyers to feel good about it. I also understand even a payment plan doesn’t open the door enough for all of us- smaller paintings & works on paper are sometimes a bit more accessible. So again, a Flash Sale felt like a fun & helpful way to get more of my work out there to those that will enjoy it. ✨
To be honest, being a full time artist is hard. It’s a rollercoaster of a business- one I love- but the business of being an artist kicks my ass sometimes. I’m constantly talking to fellow artists about the business end- and it’s such a hard part to juggle & often exhausting trying to make the right moves- but good or bad, sales are important & necessary for our businesses & careers to thrive. ✨
So, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you to all of you that continue to support & encourage my work, career, and my business. This Flash Sale has been a lot of fun & way more successful than I thought! 75 works on paper have been purchased so far! I truly can’t thank you all enough. It’s so awesome to know these works will be seen, loved, and a part of your days. Thank you. ♥️

  • Day two of the Strada Easel #stradaeasel daily paint challenge.
No Grenadine was drunk in today's challenge. On New Years Day I wanted to paint empty cocktail glass but ended up with a cherry and juice at the bottom of the glass.

  • Back at it today! The babe’s getting over her bug and lounging around the studio as I figure out what this painting wants to be. So much of the fun for me is the process.. I start out with a vision and somehow the paintings always surprise me and turn into something a bit unexpected. This cloud and I have been having a bit of back and forth on how it should look, and I think we’re almost settled on something we can agree upon!! Follow along in stories 😘☁️

  • ”Remembering Barcelona" | Barcelona, 2016. #repost @pedrocorreart ”This piece is part of a big triptych (3 x 100 x 150cm) that was curated by @aproofdc gallery in Washington DC for a very special collector. Will be displayed in #WashingtonDC in 2019. Even though I was born in Madrid, I have spent my life in Avignon, Madrid, Brussels, Barcelona and back to Brussels. I spent the most amazing year in Barcelona, when I was 24. It was one of the best years of my life. I was free as a bird, in my first year of PhD (in image processing), I met fantastic people, lived incredible nocturnal adventures and made friends for life. I remember the city as a buoyant and vibrant place, full of different cultures and close to my roots. One year later, I had to come back to continue my PhD in Belgium and made one of the hardest choices of my life: to leave the city and finish the work I had begun, far away from there.
A couple of years ago I went back to Barcelona, now as a professional artist photographer, and this image represents my feelings of the moment: It was like contemplating the woman you once loved when you were younger, that is now married with children. Still vibrant, still beautiful, but not with me anymore. We were separated by the misty window of time that transforms amazing experiences into nostalgia (and amazing memories). It was a very warm and yet bittersweet moment.”

  • Painting has to wait this morning bc sick babies come first... balancing being an artist and stay at home mommy can often be a challenge but I’m so appreciative to have the opportunity. In the past I’ve let painting fall to the side and put myself last, but I’ve really come to realize that my studio practice is good for both me and my kids. I’m proud to give them an example of a mama who works to pursue her passion regardless of whether the house looks perfect, and I love giving them the opportunity to play together for awhile without mommy hovering over them. In the end, the kids needs do always have to come first and that’s just fine with me, but I’m so happy to be weaving my needs in these days as well! 🥰🎨☁️👧🏻👦🏼

Thank you. ♥️
