  • “Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean--
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down --
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?”

  • Lake with a view! We arrived to Summit Lake and the skies were covered in clouds. We were sad that Rainier wasn’t even showing but we decided to set up our hammocks and wait it out. Two hours later, right at sunset, the clouds disappeared and we were left with this view.

  • I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who takes the time to read my often long-winded narratives. ⠀
⠀
What many of you might not know about me, is I’ve been a part-time freelance writer for a number of years now, and I initially got on this app to share bits and pieces of my life experiences, thoughts and perspectives. ⠀
⠀
Writing will always be my creative outlet and preferred method to inspire. ⠀
⠀
Some may say it’s a dying art, as everything is trending towards digital/video... but being up here at AGLOW, an outdoor writers conference, I’m reminded that it’s very much alive. ⠀
⠀
Thank you all again for investing the time to read my novel thoughts- and appreciating more than just my photos. ⠀

  • Although it's hard for me to let go of summer, the transition from summer to fall is one of my favorites. The cooler air makes for perfect adventure temps and I'm spoiled with world-class leaf-peeping right out my backdoor (if I don't miss all the changes this year while I'm over here in Australia!).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also really love dressing for fall. I love wearing flannels and sweaters and my favorite fall boots! The style I'm rocking in this post is called the Dalton from @bionicashoes. They are super comfy/lightweight boots and the red laces really make them pop. I've been wearing @bionicashoes shoes for almost 2 years now and continue to LOVE the styles they put out each season. What's your favorite part about the transition from summer to fall? #bionicashoes #bionicapartner (photo by @photograferg )

  • Ever wondered what the secret to happiness is? Ssshhh, don’t tell everyone, but I think I’ve found it. Beautiful wide open spaces to explore, blue skies, happy dogs, and a pair of old trail running shoes with holes in. A great work-life balance obviously helps too. I’ve taken quite a bit of extra work on since I’ve come back from holiday, and odd as it sounds, I feel like I am getting the most out of my time now. I’m more organised, I’m more motivated, I’m prioritising my life and work better, and I’m really appreciating the free time I do have to get out and explore our big beautiful landscape ❤️ Cheers for the photo @nicolakenzitt (and the company on today’s run)

  • Just wanted to give and update, that I am still working on the project (me), and I am slowly making progress towards something better then what I had.

Also my new medication for my arthritis is working like a charm, so I will be able to climb, hike and workout like I've been doing before (even though I'm getting a bit annoyed that I'm not in the shape that I used to. But I'll get there) 😍 Love it!

  • One foot in front of the other...no matter how slow, is still forward progress. Something I have to remind myself constantly.
The view from the top is just as amazing no matter how long it takes to get there. 🖤

  • FINALLY! It's time to move on.
.
If I keep posting from California we'll be here all year- so here's a carousel of some of my favorite Yosemite moments to close out my time in what may very well be the best state in the US. I couldn't choose just one, so here's seven. Got a favorite shot? Let me know in the comments!

  • have you ever felt like the world was coming down all around you...? seems dramatic but seriously 😂

as humans we crave stability and comfort

when that’s taken away and replaced with uncertainty, the unknown.. it can be really scary

ya feel me?

that’s how i’ve been living pretty much all summer

i chose to end a relationship that wasn’t serving either of us. and ever since then i’ve been cruising in uncertainty and the unknown.
i don’t have a solid homebase, don’t have a car, and don’t have access to most of my possessions

gratefully i have an amazing community that provides the support of those things, but it still doesn’t feel “mine”

and it’s been really hard for me and SO uncomfortable
i’ve basically just been distracting myself with work so i don’t have to think about it. or else I’ll start crying 😂 like no joke... it’s been tough

have you ever felt like this?

i’m starting to get used to it... by focusing on the gratitude of it more and more... and journaling like crazy 🙏🏼 i feel i’ve finally reached a place where i’m okay with the unknown
i’m okay with the uncertainty
i’m at peace with where i am in my journey right now

and what it’s teaching me so that i have the wisdom of this for future experiences
with gratitude

i’m learning that it’s okay for things to seem messy. and that they’ll work out anyway.
support and guidance is here for me, for all of us, no mattter the leap we take.
that’s why we’re here. and that’s why i’m sharing this with you. you have access to all the support and abundance you could ever imagine. all you have to do is trust and believe it’s there. and it will show up.
do you resonate with any of this? whats something that has helped you when you were in a time of uncertainty? share it below 🤗👇🏼

  • Checked off a big bucket list item this summer, with a couple of my favorite humans in tow // Climbing Half Dome was a humbling experience, and my knees certainly felt it in those last few miles. But I'm so lucky to have an otherworldly place like Yosemite in my backyard, people in my life that will drive through the night for a 3 am hike, and a resilient body that can sustain a day like that and bounce back in time to run a half marathon (more on that later). Thank you again @yellowbummerine, @shanfranbay and @ambam_smash -- same time next year?? 😂

  • Time and strength heals all things. 💪🏼 This relates to things from heart break, to physical breaks and pains. 💔 Since May I have been going through a heartbreak that I didn’t see coming, and one that just tears me up. But since May I have also been trail running. 🐾 I truly believe that I found @_wildwomenrunning right before the hardest times in my life to get me through it. Before trail running I never ran. Road running is mind numbing to me and whenever I would hike I would envy trail runners but thought it was something I could never do. When I started, I would be proud of 2 miles in 40 minutes and now I’m averaging 4 miles in an hour! 👏🏻 Still slow, but awesome for where I started from. 🤗 Today’s plan was 4 miles but at about 2.5 I thought why not push to 5! It felt amazing and my 3rd mile was a pace of 12 minutes which is great for me! I’m learning through trail running that even when things are hard and impossible, the only way to get through is by pushing yourself, having faith, giving yourself grace, and being a badass who doesn’t let anything or anyone get in your way. Because of that, my future has never looked more bright! 💪🏼🐾💖✌🏻🏃🏻‍♀️

.
We leave TX in Jean Louise tomorrow to head out our Northeast loop (weather permitting) so here are some pictures from our Northwest loop stop at Glacier National Park. We’d really appreciate any and all recommendations for must see places or pregnant lady friendly hikes in Upstate NY, NH, VT, and Maine! .

  • I love Colorado National Monument! Before we started RVing, we lived in Fruita, Colorado for a little bit and brought nearly all of our visitors on the Devils Kitchen hike. It’s nice and short, with great views! We did the hike again with my sister @fitnancials the other day. Do you like short hikes or longer ones? Do you like to hike?

I discovered myself, my passion, met an incredible man @ryan.kushner, and bought a house with the backyard my dog deserves. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my journey and look forward to what’s to come.
