Growing up I had a picture of this place in my bedroom. I never knew the name or location until I moved Colorado and found out it was in my new backyard. I’ve been dreaming of a shot of the mill with fall colors for a few years and saw through the grapevine that the colors were starting to appear around the mill. After countless bluebird days I took advantage of the first cloudy morning in weeks. I left CB on my dirt bike in a cold morning drizzle with a slight dusting on snow on Treasury Peak. Upon arrival of the mill I was greeted with new barriers and no trespassing signs. I’ve heard that this is the most photographed spot in Colorado and it shows with the amount of tourism it receives. This time at the mill I wanted to get a more unique composition. You can still go down to the base of the waterfall at the mill after signing a waiver and depositing $10 @crystalmtnranch
I hope you all enjoy my take on fall at this iconic mill ✌️

I sat on the side of Ohio Pass for a few hours on Thursday waiting to get a picture of the snow covered Castles rock formation. How long would you wait for a shot? 📸

I hear there is snow in the forecast for tomorrow. Fingers crossed we wake up to some Colorado magic ❄️
As a wiseman once said ‘ He who dares nothing, need hope for nothing, but he who dares wins’ ...
Today I finally won and got back on a horse. Something I could not do since a riding accident at fourteen, today is also my Daughters 13th Birthday and we went riding together.
I’m Shona the maker behind @lilbidypurl a Knitting obsessed Mum , and a sometimes horse rider again !! .
The powerful effect of nature on our mental state, demonstrated by research:
🌿 Reduces stress, anxiety and depression
🌳 Stops the negative thoughts-emotions loop by lowering your prefrontal cortex activity (active during rumination)
🌲 Lowers blood pressure and levers of Cortisol (stress hormone)
🌵Soothing effect: distracts your mind from negative thoughts and worry
🌱🕰 20-30 mins in the nature X 3 times a week and a full weekend from time to time. Your daily time in nature can be as simple as a walk in a park.
🍃🎶 Can’t make it outside? Listening to nature sounds can have a similar effect in your brain, according to research.
🌲🏃🏼♀️ You can also combine your time in nature with exercising (fast walking, cycling). Movements trigger the production of Endorphins, the hormone responsible for the sensation of relaxation and well-being. DOUBLE WIN! ✨✨✨
🌴👯♂️ Alone or with others? It does not matter! Research shows that Group nature walks are as effective as Solo ones.
🌳💚 ”Researchers noted that people who had recently experienced stressful life events like a serious illness, death of a loved one, or unemployment had the greatest mental boost from a group nature outing.”

Guten Morgen ❤️

Communing with earthly vibes in my blog today. Day 15/365 Orbit Clarity | Outdoors *link in bio
As I step outside, the brisk air from last night's mid-twenties meets the high altitude sun
of midday. "And that's why we are a ski town." I muse my eyes the direction of Snowbowl nestled in the mountains north of town.
Still awaiting our mountain town winter.
The street ascends as I make my way to the woods at the end knowing straight up through the dense forest is the observatory where stars seen astronomically meets my affinity for astrology. I always use my app when there so that I can synchronize the Hellenistic era born view of the stars with the charts described before me in today's sky. My neck back toward the atmosphere just as I am right now... .

One more hike to complete all marked trails on the NYNJTC Harriman/Bear Mountain State Park map set within Harriman and Bear Mountain State Parks.
Here’s a little history lesson about my connection to this park. I’ve been visiting Harriman for about 10 years now, starting out slow, and I didn’t really start hiking it until about 2 and a half years ago when I moved to a small town outside the park and had quick access to the trails. I began drawing lines over the trails on my map along routes I had taken, to document where I had been. After every hike I did, I would draw it on my map. I did this for about a year and then last year I saw that I had covered about half of all the trails, so I thought to myself, why not finish it? I left a small section untouched with the intention of finishing it on my final hike, which will be taking place tomorrow morning. Can’t wait to finally be done!
Since I know some of you are wondering, this shot was taken 11/3 at the viewpoint on the Kakiat Trail. If you’re good at bouldering and you’re up for a challenge, climb this rock for an amazing view. You’ll know which rock I’m talking about.
I was in such a hurry to head out on a hike at The Ada Tree Reserve yesterday that I completely forgot to post omg 🤪
We had an awesome adventure in the Myrtle beech forest. So enchanting and chilly lol Can’t wait to go again 😃
After our day exploring we headed to the Powelly Pub for a hot cuppa and great feed. A great way to end the day, complete with a local family of Kookaburras!
Shamed and shushed at a young age, I lost my voice before I could articulate.
Mom and all the women enslaved, the prison of our chador hiding our details.
Not a word.
Not a murmur.
We were burdens.
Hurtin’ til we moved to the States.
Switched my language but only spoke mental slavery, my shamed tongue let my body demonstrate.
Suicide, depression, drugs, became my saving grace.
Pine Cone Trees
I love using natural elements in my holiday decor. Pine cones, pine branches, faux fur, birch wood . . . Being from up north, it makes it feel more Christmasy for me, as opposed to palm trees and 90 degrees! .
DIY or BUY rating 8
This is a simple but tedious craft. Removing all the scales from the pine cones took quite awhile. I bought the small tree form at the @dollartree the others are from @hobbylobby This project cost me less than $10!
We have a Saturday family meeting, good food, good talks - serious issues and fun talks. I suppose, where ever we are in our world, family members keep together ✌️💗✌️ Our Girl with the Camera took this pic, the antlers of a female reindeer. 🦌
