  • Finishing up our tour around the Pacific with of course, AUSTRALIA!

Yes the lake to the right is actually pink! 🌸 Australia is home to a few pink lakes similar this one. Its bubblegum color is a result of high salinity levels, combined with salt-loving algae and a bacteria that turns those algae pink! It’s a fascinating natural wonder that drives travelers from all over to see it with their own eyes.

What are your favorite places to go in Australia?? Photo: @chloektodd

  • The Tongan royal family and nobles are Free Wesleyan Christians in the Kingdom of Tonga where 62 percent of the population has membership in the @churchofjesuschrist. President @russellmnelson visited with 'Aho'eitu Tupou VI, King of Tonga, and her royal majesty the Queen Nanasipauʻu Vaea at the Royal Palace in Tonga on May 23 during his #Pacific tour.
——
"Religion ties people to God and a higher way of life," President Nelson said. "You can't teach that kind of thing without religious connotations. They understand that here."
——
The two leaders discussed religious liberty and education, something incredibly important to President Nelson and the king.
——
Tonga enjoys a 99 percent literacy rate and a good educational system — including many private high schools like the Liahona school run by the church — but needs more educational opportunity and jobs. President Nelson said education is "in a sense a religious responsibility."
——
"It's a really precious aspect of governmental relations to allow the people to have the ability to practice the religion of their choice," President Nelson said.
