  • On the left is probably the most embarrassing picture of me that I still allow on social media 🙈 It’s from July 2016 when I was at my heaviest (240ish). My family was visiting me and we went to a Yankee game. My boyfriend took this pic of me and my nieces and I was mortified when I saw it. I had no idea I took up that much space. I just don’t remember being that big. Logically it makes sense but it’s still a tough thing to confront, even when I’m just remembering it. Fast forward 20 months later and I’m down 108 lbs. and well I don’t take up nearly as much space! I still struggle with seeing my current self clearly but it helps to see how far I’ve come, especially when I can “recreate” certain moments like this.🌺

  • If only we loved ourselves the way our pets love us….⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Our pets unconditionally love us yet it seems so hard for us to love ourselves...⁣
⁣
Often times my clients come to me and are frustrated that they are unable to immediately notice differences in their body and relationship to it. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This week I dove really deep into this topic with one of my clients who was angry with her body for not progressing quickly.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So I asked her what her “self talk” looked like. In other words I asked her “what do you tell yourself throughout the day both consciously and subconsciously about yourself and your body?”⁣⁣
⁣⁣
She hesitated and then told me that she has always hated her body and tried to hide it. She often tells herself that this will never work, she will never lose the weight, she doesn’t deserve to be happy, etc….⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The truth is you cant transform from a place of hate.... it will ultimately lead you to self sabotage⁣ or become obsessive ⁣
⁣⁣
Its okay to not be happy with where your physical body is at but you can still love your body without having to love the way that it looks. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The next time that negative thoughts come into your mind, ask yourself “would I say this to a child that was standing right in front of me?” ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If the answer is NO then don’t say it to yourself 👋🏼⁣
⁣⁣
If you have made it this far take a deep breath and know that you are worthy right now just as you are ⁣💫💙⁣
⁣⁣
What does your relationship with self talk look like?

  • {Where do I buy for Keto groceries?🍅🥑🥬} Day 5 of my 6 day series is all about how to shop and afford this new lifestyle.
✨
✨
✨
💲💲I'm all about saving money and not going broke. I think we should prioritize our bodies, but I think you can do that and prioritize your budget as well. ✨
✨
✨
🍔🍟Here's the thing, if you eat out a lot, you WILL save money by eating at home. Even eating all organic. But if you're used to living off ramen + mac & cheese every day, this will definitely be a little bit of a stretch! Here's just a few tips on how you can make this work no matter where you're at: ✨
✨
✨
♻️BUY BULK. Not only is this better on the environment, (and aesthetic when you use, glass jars) but companies don't have to spend as much money on the packaging and processing and can get it for cheaper prices. I personally go to @ozarknaturalfoods @akins or @wholefoods in my area for bulk items, but most natural foods stores have this option.
✨
✨
✨
🌿THRIVE MARKET. I always suggest buying local and in bulk if you can, but I recognize we don't all have this convenience near us. Thrive Market is my favorite place to get snacks specifically, but they have everything you could possibly need at a discounted price. Head over to my "shop" page on my website to get a discount code and see why I personally recommend them. ✨
✨
✨
🍕🍳🌮Make sure to get foods you LIKE. This doesn't have to be the worst 6 weeks of your life. Daniel and I still have pizza nights, brunch dates, taco nights, etc. all in keto options. Pinterest and Google are jam packed with recipes and ideas for these! Be careful because not ALL of them are accurate, but its not too difficult to find bomb recipes for any even or food craving you've got going on. Also, if its helpful, be sure to go subscribe to my blog, I'm going to start compiling my favorite keto recipes into weekly blog posts!

  • This quote really hits home for me. I’ve always been the person who tries to make everyone happy and to avoid as much conflict as possible. But all that ever did was hurt me. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
It’s important to be kind-hearted in such a cruel world; but don’t let people take advantage of you because of your kindness. Also, don’t let others words and opinions of you make you feel you like you’re not enough. You are more than enough, you always have been. Some people just don’t want to see you succeed so they look down on you and try to get others to do the same. And that’s okay. Why? Because you know your worth, you know what makes you happy, and you know that no matter what they say you are going to keep pushing towards your goals.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I’m finally living for me now, and it’s such a freeing feeling. If you want something, chase it, especially if it scares you. Those things are typically are the ones the universe is wanting you to run towards. Have a wonderful Friday❤️

  • i’m not a big fan of cauliflower rice, gnocchi always first for me, but rarely with my developed recipe of PALEO BUTTERY TURKEY, i would! really this turkey/chicken curry so creamy and thick. plus my new combo for cauli rice: right this down or make a screen
cauliflower rice (blend cauliflower to make rice)
2 chopped tomatoes
1 big pepper
1 tsp of paprika
1 tsp of pepper and salt
In a pot add splash of olive oil, and heat for 1 minute. In a blender mix cauliflower, not for purée, but to make little crumbles!!! Dice some pepper, tomatoes 🍅, transfer your rice first and fry until it became soft and cooked, add other chopped vegetables and cook for 5 minutes! Serve with my turkey recipe, which on my website 😍

  • #TBT It’s been almost a year since I did my first September @whole30. My motivation to do it might not have been the most pure, but the experience changed my life. I didn’t lose a staggering amount of weight, if any at all, and it’s important to note that wasn’t my goal, but what I did uncover was another layer in my ongoing and complex relationship with food, my body, and my health.
_
#whole30 helped me evaluate how I responded to certain foods. Since then, I’ve made progress with Intuitive Eating and I haven’t tracked a calorie or macro. While I look at ingredients with more intention, I still care about what I put into my body but not with some of the fear I used to have.
_
The Whole30 round that I did also had an impact on the way I thought about food. I was lucky to have @modelmeals meals to help me get through those 30 days. It’s almost been a year of making more conscious choices with food and finding more freedom without morality attached to what I eat. I also dove deeper into another level of what self-care and food looked like, and how I can show myself kindness by being well fed, but over or under.
_
While recovering from an eating disorder can look different for a lot of people, my experience with Whole30 was unique to me and I know that. I personally wouldn’t have done it on my own. I was worried about the restrictive nature of some of the rules, as well as if I would feel restricted since I know that in the past, a restriction precedes a binge. With Model Meals I got to enjoy such a variety of foods that I didn’t feel deprived or that I was missing out.
_
As September approaches, I don’t know if I’ll do a Whole30. Over this last year I’ve continued to find my Food Freedom and cut out things that don’t make me feel good. I know that some people do multiple rounds, but what started as a 30 day experiment turned into an almost year-long exploration of finding a new level of peace with food.
_
I’m still recovering on this imperfect journey. Some days I hate my body and I think I’m too much and other days I’m at peace with myself. The beautiful thing is I know feelings aren’t facts, time passes, and I am able to give myself the gift of healing.

  • Steak and Brussels!
This is our Thursday meal and one of our favorites!

We decided when our daughter started solids that she would eat what we eat. It’s been great and not to mention EASY!
She’s learned to eat a lot of different things and it helps to see her mama and dada eating the same thing she is 💕

Don’t be afraid to let your toddler try the things you’re eating!

What’s one thing your toddler loves that you didn’t think they would??

  • Who says airplane food has to suck? It doesn’t…well, at least the food you CHOOSE to eat on the airplane (and in the airport on your layover) doesn’t have to suck with a tiny bit of advanced planning.
Why settle for tasteless barely-food loaded with chemical additives and other yucky ingredients that you know will leave you feeling less than your best on what’s already a long and stressful journey involving international overseas travel? Figuring out a doable strategy to bring my own food with me on these kinds of trips was a complete GAME CHANGER.
True, it does require doing some cooking the day before your trip (or further in advance if you’re really on the ball). But it can be as easy as cooking yourself a normal dinner the night before your trip, then immediately storing the leftovers into separate food storage containers ready to grab and go the next day. I found a cute lunch tote that does a good job of keeping my food cold for hours on end with a couple ice packs while at the same time being lightweight enough to toss into my oversized tote bag I use as my personal item without adding a ton of extra weight and bulk.

I find this extra bit of effort so worth it especially on long overseas flights traveling across multiple time zones that already taxes my system enough as it is…no need to deal with stomach issues, brain fog or fatigue as a result of eating questionable processed foods on the plane. I do usually request the gluten free meal on the flight and eat whatever I can from the meal they serve...usually I at least get some salad and fruit out of it to complement my own meals.
Nothing feels more amazing than diving into your own home cooked truly DELICIOUS meal when everyone else is eating cardboard. I suspect that the balance of quality protein, healthy fats, low glycemic vegetables and a little bit of starchy vegetable to round things out helps promote a greater state of relaxation on the flight, helps me sleep better despite uncomfortable conditions, and have greater energy when I arrive to my final destination.
How do YOU stay healthy on your travels? 😎😊🍠🥩🥗🍽✈️

  • Been a while since I posted a food shot and that may be bc I’ve been too lazy to plate my food nicely😅😅
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••But lets talk about the scale. One of my biggest enemies has always been the scale; I’ll admit it. I used to weight myself first thing in the morning, after every since meal, every time I was in my bathroom, and before bed. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
At the beginning of the year I was going through a lot in my life. I was extremely unhappy and so I turned to food. I would have moments everyday where I’d just binge eat. No matter what I was doing, no matter what kind of mood I was in, I just felt so trapped and like I couldn’t stop. I knew I was gaining a lot of weight but it felt like food was my only escape. So when I was at school, I would force myself to get sick so I could go home and be all upset and just eat. It was an endless cycle. I got up to almost 150lbs(I normally was 110-115lbs) and it broke me. I was hearing so many comments about my body that I just stopped eating. I would tell my friends I was “fasting” but in reality I just wanted to get back down to my normal weight. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Why am I sharing this with you? Well for one, the scale is not the enemy. It measures a combination of your muscle mass and your body fat. It took me losing 20lbs to realize that and that I don’t need a number on some stupid scale to define who I am. And two, I understand what a struggle food can be. So many people make food an emotional thing. You’re not going to figure it out overnight, but you will figure it out. I mean hell, I know my body absolutely hates dairy and gluten and this whole week I’ve eaten nothing but those types of foods. And do you know what I have to say to that? It’s okay. It’s okay to enjoy life, just make sure you get back on track and don’t make these types of things habits. Remember you’re in control, not the food. You’ve got this.❤️

  • TORTITAS DE COCO🥰
.

    . .
    ¡Qué las disfrutéis comilones!😘

  • Yet another honey-ferment use. I've posted about Paleo/AIP one-ingredient fruit "ice cream" before but here's a twist I tried with my leftover honey-fermented dates. In this case I cut up ripe banana and honey-fermented dates and mixed them together with some of the honey before freezing overnight (bottom photo 2). Alternately you could freeze the dates and honey separately and add the dates to already blended ice cream, just pulsing it in to keep the date pieces a bit bigger and chunkier. To blend any fruit ice cream, take out of the freezer and let stand for about 10 minutes. Then blend until smooth and return to freezer to re-harden. I prefer to wait a few hours but a soft serve consistency will be ready pretty quickly.

Tip: for a creamier ice cream use a food processor instead of a blender.

  • It’s almost overplayed that people love to talk about how much they love coffee. But that doesn’t negate how good it still is. -

And I still get questions asking if coffee is healthy or if it is banned when doing my program... -

Trust me, there is no coffee ban. And coffee is still healthy. Just don’t load it up tons of high calorie creamers and sugars. -

The graphic above says that 3-5 eight ounce servings can be had per day. That’s a good amount! As with anything though, do a little experiment on yourself to see what level is best for you. And if you’re constantly at the upper end or above, take a little break from having so much so you can resensitize yourself.

  • Hei kaikki Paleo Helsingin seuraajat! Toivottavasti kaikkien kesä on sujunut hyvin ☀️ Hiljalleen alkaa olla aika suunnata katseet kohti syksyä! 🍁Helsinki Paleon syksystä & alku talvesta on tulossa aktiivinen. Aloitamme Paleo verkkovalmennukset tämän syksyn/alkutalven aikana, joten pysykäähän kuulolla! ⁣
⁣
⁣
⁣
⁣
(noin. 4 vohvelia)⁣
⁣
10dl raastettua bataattia⁣
2 kananmunaa⁣
hyppysellinen suolaa⁣
2rkl oliivi/kookoöljyä(+paistamiseen)⁣
⁣
•Sekoita kaikki ainekset hyvin sekaisin⁣
•Kuumenna vohvelirauta ja lisää muutama tippa öljyä jotta vohveli irtoaa raudasta. ⁣
•Levitä ”taikina” tasaisesti raudalle.⁣
•Paista kunnes vohveli on kullanruskean värinen⁣

  • I have what could be a life-changing interview today, so I'm keeping lunch light....because I've got a nervous tummy and the last thing I want is to be uncomfortable! Apple and almond butter are a favorite and I have to say that I am in love with the collagen peptides from @sportsresearch! Paleo and keto friendly, and dark chocolate! Need I say more?
