  • It's the 55th. anniversary of the album and the movie A Hard Day's Nigth. This movie and soundtrack was a commercial success for The Beatles, but beyond that we must emphasize that the music composed by Lennon and McCartney is A class, we are not talking about conventional music for a film.
.
Since I began to present the Beatles music to my daughter must confess that it has been difficult make she like this one, mainly because it is a black and white film, she always asked me the same question. Why it has no color? My daughter Dylan is about to turn 9 years old and now is more easier to explain this kind of things. She love the Help! movie and since she do not have to ask me to put it on bluray system she can see it twice in a day. .
But last weekend I decided to put this film late at night and for my surprise she paid attention without asking me anything about the color, she laughed a lot with all the jokes abound in the film and was even delighted with Paul's grandfather. Since then, Dylan have been asking me any number of things about the film, for example Why the train car was so narrow? Why the grandfather did not ask The Beatles to sign all the photos at once? Why the producer (Víctor Spinetti) was so grumpy, Or how did John get out of the bathtub so fast?
.
So for that reason I had no problem to agree her to pose for this beautiful commemorative photo!

  • Tuesday 25th February 2020: @georgeharrisonofficial’s 77th birthday!🎂
I want to thank you for all the great songs that you’ve written over the years and for being such an inspiring person for me. When i first found the beatles i had no clue who George Harrison was yet the others i picked up quite easily and i’m not sure why, i suppose it’s because unless you’re a beatles fan the name “George Harrison” means nothing to you, so if you’re one of these people perhaps who have just stumbled across my page or are new to the beatles then i’m going to tell you some things about George.:
1. Georges birthday was actually the 24th.. George, although always celebrating on the 25th, had found via his birth record his birthday was actually before midnight on the 24th.
2. George Harrison topped the singles and albums charts in 1971 after the break up of The Beatles and he was the first to do so! The album which gave him this success was of course, All Things Must Pass.
3. George made ‘Concert For Bangladesh’ in 1971 for charity. Stars playing at the show were famous names such as Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Billy Preston and Leon Russell. The ventures had raised more than $12 Million by 1985 and continue to benefit to this day to the George Harrison Fund For UNICEF.
4. George was the first Beatles to go and play in America.
——> facts from factinate.com and mentalfloss.com
in this post the songs are:
slide 1: While My Guitar Gently Weeps by The Beatles (performed by George Harrison and others)
slide 2: The Beatles ‘Mockers’ interview.
slide 3: Crackeebox Palace by George Harrison
slide 4: For You Blue by The Beatles
slide 5: Something by George Harrison performed by George Harrison and Eric Clapton (and others)
slide 6: Got My Mind Set On You originally by Rudy Clark and James Ray 1962.

  • The Beatles, _With the Beatles_, Parlophone, 1963, first Danish pressing with gold labels and old Parlophone logo. Swipe right for label closeups. Nice (and nicely priced!) online pickup here in Denmark last week: the rare first issue of _With the Beatles_. Most Fabs nerds will recognize the resemblance to the nigh-mythical first "gold label" UK pressings of _Please Please Me_, before the move to the yellow-and-black Parlophone labels that lasted until 1969. In Denmark, both _Please Please Me_ and _With the Beatles_ were initially issued with similar gold labels featuring the earlier Parlophone logo (both of them plus _A Hard Day's Night_ also appeared with silver variants). The cover of this copy is fairly battered so will need an upgrade, but the vinyl itself sounds ace despite some scuffing, and even before cleaning. Those weighty Sixties pressings are often amazingly durable; another benefit of original Danish Beatles pressings is that they were done from the UK masters (they also have the same XEX/YEX matrix codes).

  • @parlophone what should have been a happy new vinyl day to me has turned into yet another nightmare.

This is the 4th attempt I've made to purchase a copy of Station to Station, each time from a different retailer, and each time the title track skips every few seconds.

Not only that, but there's a fairly substantial scratch on the surface as well, not something you expect when you take a spinner fresh out of a plastic wrap.
Yeah, I can always return the disk to @amazon and get my money back, but at this stage its not the point.

This is my favourite @davidbowie album and I want the best quality version of it I can possibly own. I can categorically say Parlophone and their apparently non-existent quality control aren't able to supply one.

At this stage it would have probably worked out to be cheaper and less stressful to have sourced a vintage copy.

Poor show. Will definitely think twice before buying anything else on vinyl from your label in the future. And telling the many vinylheads I know to do the same... #davidbowie #stationtostation #stonecoldclassic #parlophone #gutted #poorshow

  • Beat: Paper cuts @santandave
I had a bit of extra time this week so I fulfilled a request from someone for a rap to @santandave ’s beat. I liked this one so I’m making it into a proper track which I can use at events. So look out for the show announcements so you can hear it in person👊🏾
If you rate, like and share- much love ❤️

Supergrass- I Should Coco (1995)

They had it all: a great band name, humour, the looks, musical versatility, and above all good tunes (with this terrific debut album as a prove to that). Yet, Supergrass (adolescents at this time) never became as big as other guitar bands from the Cool Brittannia era.
Maybe it's because of their lack to take their music or themselves too seriously. Their music have always been full of wit and youthful energy. But they didn't really seem to care for flagwavers / anthems like many of their Britpop companions.
This album (an UK #1) is, a full on, energy boost from start to eh..almost, finish. The first eight tracks hardly leave any room to breath. The Buzzcocks and Madness are not far away through energetic fun songs like "Alright", "Caught By The Fuzz", "Strange Ones".
After that the band slows down, and shows a more mature side with the mildly psychedelica of "Sofa ((Of My Lethargy)" (which would later be further explored on 2005's "Round To Rouen") and the straightforward rock of "Time".
But this album is one big statement from a young band that wants to proof just one thing: "it's nothing but great to be young and alive". It succeeds with an infectious eclecticism.

Top three tracks: "Alright" - "Sofa (Of My Lethargy") - "Caught By The Fuzz"
