What does it mean to show up authentically?
I spent my entire career as a medical device sales rep wearing fancy suits, making tons of money & being busy. I was consumed by the rat race, trying to be louder & faster than the others around me while screaming out to be heard.I remember the feeling I’d get on Sunday afternoons thinking about the week ahead. It was anxiety. I’d feel it in my whole body. It was a combination of nervousness and exhaustion thinking about how my success would be measured & defined by how many sales I would make and how big my commission check would be.. I felt depressed, numb & powerless. I eventually got fired from my job. This was difficult at the time because it was everything I knew & thought I wanted. I had worked hard to get to where I was. I had even recently finished a masters’ degree that I thought would differentiate myself in a crowded industry. I was lost & was searching for a deeper meaning to life. It’s been over 4 years now since I’ve held a corporate job. Looking back, I can’t believe I lasted as long as I did. I discovered that the way I felt on Sundays was the result of misalignment. I should have trusted my feelings a long time ago. But, I didn’t know how. Today, life is much different. It’s not always easy, but it's certainly a lot more peaceful. This has less to do with the external factors and more to do with how I feel inside. Through meditation, I have learned to listen inwards. To become the observer to my thoughts and emotions and to trust that what they are telling me is intended to guide me into alignment. It’s taken me a long time to shift my perspective, to show up differently in the world & to follow my truth. I’ve had to find courage in being uncomfortable & vulnerable. I no longer get the "Sunday blues." Instead, I feel calm & relaxed. For me, it’s a time of reflection & pause. I’m finally aligning with my authentic self. I’m proud of my work & know that this spiritual path is the one I am meant to walk. I have found my passion & am moving forward with intention & purpose. How are you showing up? 😭I've had an issue with lower #backpain and spasms the last two weeks. Gosh that is the worse! Every movement seemed to trigger the pain. I was feeling hella old because it seemed like the pain came out of nowhere. I couldn't pinpoint anything I'd done to cause it. 🤔Last time I experienced any type of back pain was when I was pregnant with my now 14 year old son 🤰🏾 - he decided to get in a comfy place which happened to lay squarely on my sciatic nerve. He was in that spot for a little over 3 weeks and if he decided to keep kicking it there, I was going to be taken off work and put on bedrest. He decided to move (thankfully). Other than that, the only other time was the the 20+ hours I was in labor🤱🏾, again 14 years ago. 😏 Thanks J! Mom still loves you. 🤗
😔So here's a few things I did to try to help alleviate the discomfort:
1) taking my laptop out of my work backpack to take some weight off.
2) I didn't work out. I couldn't because every subtle mood had me wrenching in pain.
3) Rested. I went to bed earlier than usual. I slept on a firm pillow and laid on my back which gave me some relief. When I tried to sleep on my sides as I usually do, the discomfort returned.
4) Increased my water intake. That sounded odd to me but a Sorority sister asked about my water intake which had been sorta slacking. Seems weird but I told her it may have helped. *****
😊I'm happy to report that my back feels much better. I don't which of any of these measures help me most but everything seemed to work together. 👟 So I was very happy to get out this afternoon for a pleasant Sunday #lunch run. 🏃🏾♀️💨💨💨 It's been nearly a month since my last run so I was just happy to be out there on pavement and pain free. *****

Sundays Word was Pause. This is a word that does not come natural for me. Why? Because my mind goes into overload thinking about new ideas then strategizing how to implement them.
For over 30 years, I start with Psalms then I go into Proverbs, then I’ve journaled since then.
Can I say, no matter how long or how short of time, life still happens. I am here to say, discipline will help you to get your eyes on the prize. If you walk away, just know, it is never too late to change.
The world we are in may feel like we are falling fast. This word Selah =pause was a perfect reminder to me how not to get wrapped up in the stress & needless busyness of this world.
