  • My mom planned to open a consignment shop almost 13 years ago.
——
I can still to this day remember how much joy filled her heart when she talked about it. She’s now 72 and feels as though that time has passed her by.
•
I told her, “you know they say...more million dollar ideas can be found in the cemetery than any other place in the world.”
——
Remember this the next time you feel like the timing isn’t “perfect” enough.

Life is too short to not pursue something you’re passionate about. A year ago l started stressing over my job, dissatisfied with my career in financial services - realizing my DESIRE to work in the intersection of sports, business and hip-hop culture. ⠀
⠀
To cope with the frustrations of my 9-5 l started to build my brand outside of work. I wrote a book (@Bey0ndTheGame), produced a monthly speaker series (Gem Flo) and blogged for a few websites (@athletenetwork & @therichest), but there was still a void. So l did some soul searching, attended 20+ sports conferences/networking events, conducted nearly 100 informational interviews with people in the space l desire to be in and ultimately realized MY best option was to go back to school. ⠀
⠀
Going back to school is essentially taking the band-aid off, i.e. leaving my comfort zone. It’s not easy walking away from a comfortable 6 figure job but l w̸a̸n̸t̸ NEED to do something that excites me in the morning and gives me joy when l tell people “what l do” - but more importantly makes an impact in a space I’m passionate about. It won’t be easy starting over but I’m ready for the challenge 😈.⠀
⠀
I’m excited to announce l’ll be attending Columbia University to get my Masters in Sports Management in NYC as l continue to figure out this thing called life. Don’t wish me good luck wish me God’s speed. ⠀
⠀
New York City what’s really f*ckin’ good ?!?!?!!⠀
