It’s a place where fear thrives. A place where self doubt may shadow. A place polluted with nerves.

Insecurity. Over analyzing and over thinking.

You may even find yourself comparing yourself to the stronger, more experienced lifter who visited moments before you.

A lot can happen in this moment. It’s a place that can be flooded with emotion.

But it can’t be.

Here’s the thing — the seconds spent chalking your hands needs to be played. You are the player. The bucket is merely the game, and you are in control.

Being able to tell the thing between your ears to shut the f**k up and spend those seconds being 120% sure of yourself is crucial for the success of your upcoming lift.

Strength sports are a physical game of longevity - but the best in the game are the ones who are able to completely remove emotion from their lifts and go forward with confidence and hunger in an almost robotic manner.

Next time you’re on deck and step up to the bucket... ask yourself, is what you’re telling yourself a reflection of others around you and their expectations?

Or are you doing this for you?

You’re too busy? Well someone else is busier and is still getting it done. Our world has a ton of distractions but you can choose what’s important to you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Life after prep / what i’m up to now:
Originally, the plan was to compete in several small, regional shows through spring. I didn’t expect and think I’d even place as high as I did (much less the big NQ) so after the show, I kind of just decided to live a little. Definitely enjoying the extra food 😊 and the social life at work but also enjoying having the extra energy for my new training split which btw feels so damn good. *I am not done* and my season is still in progress but I’m kind of just allowing my body/mind to recover while I decide what to do next. I no longer have a reason to just blindly compete in random small shows anymore but at the same time the bigger, more important ones aren’t coming up for a few months. I’m keeping an eye on the 2020 schedule as it continues to roll out but tbh because I don’t have a clear date set in mind, it’s kind of difficult for me to zone in. I don’t mind the extra weight BUT I probably should calm tf a little before I blow up LOL

  • My secret #roast #porkbelly recipe isn’t a secret anymore!

Ingredients:
•Whole Pork Belly
•Roasting Pan with rack
•Steak Seasoning
•Olive Oil
•Beer
•A little bit of heat and some time!
•

Directions:
•Score the fat cap
•Season both sides with seasoning
•Slather it in olive oil
•Put the roast on the rack in the pan and pour bees in the bottom
•Roast at 400* for 45-60 minutes or until it reaches an internal temp of 185*

Simply, when we set one specific goal, most will tend to optimize for that objective regardless of the consequences. Incentivizing quantity over quality, more often than not, leads to negative effects. 
I rarely care to observe metrics (or any data, in general) such as this analysis, but it’s beneficial to see (in another form) whether or not what you’re doing is working and more importantly, why or why not. I’m well aware that these tests are not absolute or otherwise perfectly accurate, however even if this test is somewhat close- it’s reinforcement for my efforts and philosophy. According to this, over the course of about 3 months, I’ve lost about 2 lbs. of weight while increasing muscle mass by 2.5 lbs. and deceasing body fat by 3%; which is definitely interesting!
What I’m trying to say here is that I don’t focus on weight loss or body fat reduction, but by training the way I believe to be best, these are positive side effects I’m reaping. AKA, stop focusing on an objective; instead, focus on a few constraints that are keeping you from attaining this objective and use them to guide you. ——————————————————————————
