I’m repotting a pitiful looking pilea that I had growing in a 4” terra cotta pot. It was definitely overdue for a repot as the soil dried out extremely quickly and the soil compacted causing it to flood when watering. I didn’t have this guy potted in the mix I use now (potting soil, bark and perlite.), so I definitely wanted to make the change.
I also wanted to note that I had this guy growing under a grow light and it does TERRIBLE. The leaves curled really bad, the leaf color turns almost neon green and the stem turns a bright red color. Just hideous. I have three others I grow in natural light and one is on my balcony, all doing fabulous. I’m just going to stick with natural light for this guy moving forward. However, it does grow much quicker under the grow light but that doesn’t really matter if it looks like crap.
I potted it up into a 6” pot. I planned to move it into a 5” but I was too lazy to go downstairs where I had them and just grabbed what was in my room. It’s looking really droopy because I didn’t water it this week and overall, it’s not happy. I’ll be storying about it’s recovery if you want to stay updated on the progress 🌱 #pileapeperomioides
