worst part about the weekend? Not having this study view 😍
6901515 September, 2019
It’s so hard to believe that I’m 3 weeks into school and this term is done in 5 weeks 🥴
My first midterm exam is next week, with one the following week, and a wholeeee bunch of quizzes and assignments due between now and then.
Although it’s super fast paced I actually love it because I don’t have time to slack off or get behind 🙈
Also decided to check out this new study room and I’m obsessed 😍 the picture doesn’t do it justice but the ceiling is 5 stories high! I definitely love finding new spots to continue being inspired ☺️

Tips for having an effective and productive school year:
•use a planner (google calendar, paper planner...anything)! I schedule out my day in the morning and I get as specific as filling in what task I want to tackle during each time block
•don’t over schedule (be realistic in your goals!) I always overestimate how long a task will take me so that I don’t plan out too much for everyday
•when you’re in class or studying put away all distractions! I use the “flora” app to track my study productivity as well as prevent me from accessing everything else on my phone
•pre-read for each lecture..seriously just at least look over and briefly research the topics you’re going to learn about (this should only take 15-20 mins!)
•re-read over your class notes the DAY of the class..this has been studied to show increased ability to retain the info 😄
•I have recently started doing mediation for focus and stress relief using the headspace app. Its really awesome as a mental break from studying!!
•l-Theanine has been my best friend for improving focus, as well as caffeine and B12 supps for overall energy ☺️
•pick a bomb study playlist! I use “productive morning” on Spotify because the music is very uplifting and motivating...just make sure your music is instrumental!
Anyone have any tips I didn’t mention??

CDC is observing #FedFashionWeek and featuring #scientist David Lowe’s must-haves for the lab. A recent graduate of #CDC ’s Laboratory Leadership Service fellowship, he knows the importance of dressing for laboratory safety. “Here, I’m wearing a Tyvek double-gloved PPE, which is resistant to liquids,” Lowe says of his blue protective suit. “And while rabies isn’t spread by air, the PAPR is an awesome tool to filter environmental allergens in the lab.” bit.ly/CDC-LLS-Stories #publichealth
I think I’m finally getting into the swing of things..minus a tiny bit of catching up that I still need to do 🙈 my goal is to get my study habits down to a T so I know exactly what to do and when and I’m almosttttt there!
This first week and a half has already shown me how important it is to study effectively and efficiently, so it’s taken some adjustment from my typical study methods to cut down on time spent. I used to rewrite all of my notes and redraw the figures because the repetition and act of writing everything out in my own words helped it stick, but unfortunately drawing out each figure is WAY too time consuming so I’ve just settled to redrawing the ones that I need to once I’m studying the material and sitting down to really master it. I wish I had more time to dedicate but there’s so much to be done that I can’t send nearly as much time on note revision as I would like to. No worries though because we’re getting there 🙌🏻

Being 14 inches lighter never felt so good! 💇🏻💗
Donating money isn’t the only way to give back! There are tons of organizations that welcome donations of hair to be turned into wigs for those in need! I chose to donate my hair to Wigs for kids because they give the wigs to cancer patients at no cost to them! If you’re looking for a change and ready to chop your locks, please strongly consider donating them to help someone in need! 💇🏻💗

You’re looking at the face of a girl who just submitted applications for her first real doctor job!🎉 It feels surreal to know that I am one step closer to being able to provide medical care for children and their families.
Dr. Tiana S. Woolridge, MD, MPH is right around the corner!🙌🏾👩🏽⚕️ (...also, is anyone else terrified of the boardwalk after watching Us, or is it just me??😅 #thankspeele )
Whooping cough vaccination (Tdap) during the third trimester of pregnancy prevents more than 3 in 4 whooping cough cases in babies younger than 2 months old. Flu vaccination during pregnancy helps protect babies from influenza for several months after birth. While Tdap and flu vaccines are safe and effective, vaccination coverage of pregnant women remains low. To learn more about maternal vaccination, watch #CDCGrandRounds on Facebook Live, 9/18 at 1pm ET. http://bit.ly/CDC-GR-Maternal #Vaccination#Vaccines#Flu#Tdap#Pregnancy#CDC#PublicHealth
Tell me gang, what slightly unusual topping combinations do you like on toast? Do you like a sweet and savoury mishmash? Do you like to keep it simple? Or is toast not for you at all? 🤷♀️ As you know I love toast, and I like to switch things up to keep it interesting 😜. A few of my favourite slightly more unusual combos are:
• Smoked hummus, poached salmon, lemon juice + black (pictured above, with a side of veggies)
• Avocado, peanut butter, strawberries + cinnamon
• Greek yoghurt, tahini, honey + chopped dates

Menurut dr.
Masih mikir dua kali buat makan ikan teri? Wkwk. Yuk, budayakan hidup sehat dengan mengonsumsi makanan beragam untuk memperoleh gizi yang seimbang.

It has been six months since #CycloneIdai tore through Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi, causing catastrophic damage.
Pictured here, three months after the disaster, is Julia, an Oxfam aid worker, walking into a settlement with her team of ‘activistas’ in Beira, Mozambique.
Julia lost her home during the cyclone. The roof blew off and then it collapsed shortly after she got out.
Now Julia manages a team of 25 activistas from the local community who go door-to-door promoting good hygiene practice and handing out soap and water purification liquid to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases such as cholera.
Cases of cholera have been brought back to the same low-level as before the cyclone after public health campaigns such as this one, and a mass vaccination programme.
Thanks to your generous support, we have been able to lead hygiene initiatives such as these, as well as helping families and communities rebuild their lives.
Sadly however, signs of the destruction caused by Idai are still visible. Houses need repairing, land needs to be re-habilitated, and people need access to food and clean water. Oxfam is particularly worried that the looming food insecurity crisis will hit women and girls hardest.

Important Public Announcement from the Joint Information Center - Spraying at Two Campuses Conducted; Students to Return to Classes Tuesday
I had a “first” today....my first Beautycounter training.🤗 Working from home like I do can be a bit isolating at times so being around a group of like-minded women really gets me fired up. I also find it fascinating to hear WHY these consultants decided to get involved with the company. I was able to meet a few women from the DC area, one being @coconutsandkettlebells whose podcast @wellfedwomen is one of my faves. (If you’re interested in learning more about women’s health then you need to check this one out.) I also got to reconnect with @amy_kardell who was a former colleague at previous company.
You probably know by now that Beautycounter offers gorgeous makeup and safer skincare.💄 But did you realize how much advocacy there is at a consultant/company level for safer personal care laws? (Swipe to hear more about this.) There have been 1,000 meetings with lawmakers, 10,000 phone calls made, and 100,000 emails sent. Through our efforts, laws have actually changed to protect public health. 👏🏻👏🏻
If you’re a BC consultant who was able to attend Counter Training, what was one valuable nugget of info YOU picked up?

Tip: Evaluate CMS’s new enforcement authorities to reduce fraudulent behavior.
On Sept 5, 2019, CMS announced new enforcement authorities to reduce fraud within Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP.
The new authorities and restrictions will be effective by November 4, 2019, in which CMS can revoke or deny the enrollment application due to the following: 🔹A provider or supplier circumvents program rules by coming back into the program, or attempting to come back in, under a different name (e.g., the provider attempts to “reinvent” itself);
🔹A provider or supplier bills for services/items from non-compliant locations.

Advocate. Educator. Advisor. That's Bree Robinson. She has been a community health worker at Grady for almost two years, serving on the frontlines of public health, and building trust with the community. In this role, she helps patients navigate the health system and practice healthy behaviors, while connecting them to various resources. "I connect those dots needed to help patients take control of their lives and their health. It's the most satisfying part of my job at Grady." In honor of #NationalCommunityHealthWorkerDay , we celebrate unsung heroes like Robinson and other CHWs who help grow patient care beyond medicine by making those invaluable connections with their patients in the community.

"I love that teens today are so passionate about making the world a better place! The commitment, organization, and determination I see from teens today is incredibly motivating. "
Why do you think it's important for teens to share their voice and/or for teens to be heard?
"Sharing stories and perspectives is important in helping gain deeper understanding about our world. Every teen's experience is unique, and that's why it's exciting for teens to use their voice to speak out on things they are passionate about!"

You probably knew that being in nature can make you feel better physically by things like being in cleaner air... but did you know that nature can also improve your mental state?
Being in nature and the psychological impact it has on you is called ECOPSYCHOLOGY and it can positively impact your sense of exploration, social awareness, and value not only with nature but with yourself and other people.
Positive connection with aspects of nature can change our perceptions and is one of many aspects of POSITIVE DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY.
Find out more about positive developmental psychology and ecopsychology in tomorrow’s @GlobalCaveat episode with Cordele Glass (@cordeleee).
*being in nature is not a replacement for other medical treatment. Due to the massive amount of misinformation out in the world, I just wanted to make note that seeking professional medical attention is important and nature is not a replacement for medication.
We are all creative and want to find ways to increase our impact.
Population information is crucial to demonstrate and evaluate the impact of an intervention, monitor progress towards a goal, determine barriers to care, and influence public policy.
Public Health Informatics (PHI) is distinguished from other informatics specialties by its focus on prevention in populations, use of a wide range of interventions to achieve its goals, and the constraints of operating in a governmental context. #data#publichealth#surveillance
