**** TO BE KILLED - 4/27/2019 **** #RESCUE ONLY .
LIKE ALL NEWLY-ABANDONED POOCHES, Romeo is scared and unsure. But he just needs a little time, love and attention to warm up and come out of his shell. He's a scared boy who has lost everything and everyone he ever loved and just needs a chance with a true and committed family. Romeo is a very handsome boy with an amazing smile. He lived with one adult and that's who he spent most of his time with but Romeo was great with visitors who had an infant. Whenever he spent time with the baby, Romeo was said to be respectful & gentle with him. Romeo sounds like a rockstar waiting to happen. We just need to get him into the right hands. Safe & loving hands. He's young & will need patience & training.

He remained anxious throughout the intake process.
Look! It’s present day Bug!
Reminiscing with Bug’s baby puppy photos is wonderful, but it’s also fun to take notice of the distinguished older pup he’s turning into 🐛🐾💙 #almostsixmonthsold#growinglikeaweed

We don’t understand why Nena’s parent couldn’t keep her after their divorce but it is cruel to think that despite how terrified and overwhelmed she was on intake, they “still” walked away. They knew that she was incredibly shy with new people till she warmed up, and now she is surrounded by nothing but strangers. Our hearts hurt FOR these shy, sweet puppies.
Poor Nena was tail tucked at her medical, shivering in fear, and she even peed on herself. This is not the life she expected to have, and all she wants is to go home to her family and sleep in their bed again with them, to be comforted and loved and safe. She was amazing with their child too, playing so gently with them & even protective of them. This poor girl desperately needs an experienced foster or adopter in an adult only home who can give her a chance. Will you be her hero? Hurry.
Nena, ID #60617 , 1 Yrs. 3 Mos. old, 40.3 lbs, Unaltered Female #Manhattan ACC, Medium Mixed Breed, Black
Owner Surrender Reason: Divorce
Shelter Assessment Rating: NEW HOPE ONLY
Recommend: Adult only home (kids over 13 ok
Medical Behavior Rating: 3. Yellow
AT RISK MEMO: Nena has remained fearful at the ACC and has allowed for only minimal handling; exhibiting distance increasing behaviors. Nena would be best suited for placement with a new hope partner that can provide the necessary behavior modification. Medically, Nena seems healthy.
BE KILLED – 4/27/2019 #RESCUE ONLY
It’s so sad to watch Shadow’s video. In the first few seconds, you see how sad he is, how lost and lonely. He looks about, probably hoping the family he loved & that left him behind have come back. But they haven’t. But in only minutes you see just how incredibly sweet he is. He may be a shy wallflower, timid of the great big world, but under the care and attention of the volunteers, who give him treats & pet him, he has blossomed. Gentle hearted & gently playful, he is so happy to be in company. We know that this wonderful boy with his STERLING RESUME of skills is having a hard time getting by the loss of his family, and shame on them. But in the hands of an experienced #foster or #adopter we know he will be a wonderful companion. All he needs is patience, and the ability to warm to his new family.
Shadow is heartbroken and lonely, but loves treats:

This semester has been jam-packed with adventures, travel, and work. I am so thankful for peaceful moments like this where I can enjoy nature, stillness, and my pup. Tomorrow marks the end of my second year @michiganstateu and the end of my first year as director of @capmsu - I feel really, really lucky to work at a place that values work-life balance so I can have a little down time. I am so lucky to be surrounded by fantastic colleagues, staff, and students. I feel like I'm living the dream at this university! #nature#pups#outdoors#academiclife#academia
