#burntjune#trysomethingnew I finally tried a scorch marker! I think I’m going to have to practice with this. I both liked it but had trouble with it too. I feel like I could only get one tone and I wanted to create more of a gradient. But I do like how smooth and painterly it looks and also the warmer tone it creates could really elevate my portraits. But if you burn back on top of it it basically turns all dark and you can’t shade it in very much. Maybe I’m doing something wrong 🤷🏼♀️ I included progress pictures of where I used the scorch marker. I also didn’t really know how to use the heat gun and had it on low and it did nothing, had to turn it up high to get it going and if I got to close it would leave extra brown marks 🙈 Thanks @woodburncorner and @walnuthollow for these challenges so that we keep exploring the possibilities of pyrography! #communityovercompetition#pyrography#horse#ottb#dressage#horseportrait#woodburning#wip
TRY SOMETHING NEW #burntjune
I have never tried as many new things in art as I did this month. I am so grateful to @woodburncorner for pushing me and helping me grow. I chose this piece because it was my first time burning water and using something to highlight and I had so much fun with it! But this #burntjune I also tried:
•different kinds of video
•gel pen(as a highlighter)
•simple time drawing
•and I had my first real commission of something that a customer wanted that wasn’t in my shop (this boat)
Thank you also to @walnuthollow for sponsoring.

#burntjune Day 25. Prompt: Try Something New. Hosted by @woodburncorner and @walnuthollow. This piece took me 20 hours. I free handed every single flower, then burned the flowers, then burned little tiny dots around the flowers. Let’s just say my hand hurts REALLY bad! Almost broke my ball point burner tip. But i actually really like this piece! It’s the first piece I completely did free handed. No design platform to perfect my lines. Just my shaky hand. I’d say I’m pretty proud of myself.
Ta da! This piece is finished for now. ;) I'm not confident enough to work with color to add paint to the wood, so I'll keep it as is. Maybe oil it to protect it.
Some lessons learned: a soldering iron is difficult to work with as a pyrography pen -- cant get consistent clean lines -- but that could also be because I used a cheap wood board from the 99 peso shop. 😅
The whole town has been in wonderful chaos with #RoyalAscot happening last week - I even got a glimpse of the #Queen whizzing past! If you can't beat 'em, join them by woodburning horses! Here's the process video.
Когда выкраивается время между работой, заказами и насущными мирскими заботами, работаешь над тем, что интересно и процесс доставляет удовольствие:)
