  • As empaths, we do this constantly. It’s a negative habit that takes time to break... but it can be done if we learn how to accept the behavior of others at face value. Unless it’s literally our job... it’s not our job to teach jerks to be kind and decent to us. It’s our job to get the hell out of the way and protect ourselves! Day 22.

After hiking with a group of 10  wonderful people for five days, and Liam's brother visiting from England for two weeks: I'm done.

I've shifted into the enchantress phase of my cycle - also known as autumn. Best characterised by shifting energies day and night and a lower threshold for shit that doesn't serve you.

We start our journey back to NZ in a few days and my inner voice is calling for me to step back and relax.

To recover completely from our hike to Machu Picchu and prepare for 24 hours of travel and a 17 hour timezone change.

I'm listening.

I'll be quiet on here for a wee while my friends. Honouring the inner call is absolutely central to menstrual cycle love.

  • One day I just got sick of it.

Are you sick of it too?

I got sick of giving so many fucks.

Life is pretty damn hard when we’re alwaysfeeling low about ourselves, anxiously overthinking all the things, and doubting our self worth. 
Maybe you can relate? Maybe you’ve been there too many times like I had been.

But I finally got sick. I got sick of settling for less, of obsessing about things out of perfection, putting myself down, and all the bad habits and patterns I couldn’t seem to break free of no matter how many times I tried.

I really wished for change to come to me. For someone to save me. I dreamed of escaping everything and becoming a monk, for real tho. It got pretty bad.

Then I got sick, literally. Figuratively, and everything else. And I woke the fuck up and realized my life is mine to create and not for anyone else. I know this sounds like instantly things changed for me but this couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Self love takes discipline, a constant and never ending work. 
But it’s worth it. 
And you don’t have to do it alone.

I know I can’t make you get fed up enough with your life, career, relationships, to make you take this decision, that part will have to be up to you.

But I know for those of you who resonate with this message, those of you that are like me four-five years ago, and are ready for this journey to living a life inspired, healthy, passionate, and full from your heart and soul:  I am here to guide you and support you on your way to radical self love.

It’s the best investment I have ever made for myself. ⁣
⁣
Because it’s given me ultimate freedom. ⁣

And, that is worth everything.

From day one we are socialized to feel like strangers in our own bodies- to not love them, to see every “imperfection,” and are told we must change and shrink ourselves in body and spirit at every turn.

But for whose benefit? Cause it’s clearly not for us. It’s for multimillion companies that thrive on our body shame, our hate for our spiritual & bodily homes.

Our self-love journeys are so personal and complex, and require so much unlearning and a deep exploration of toxic roots we may not be currently aware of. And that can be scary and exhausting, among many other things. So please let yourself of the hook if you’re not where you think you “should” be. You’re trying!

We will never preach that self-love journeys are effortless or that they must follow a specific formula. We’re not here for that unrealistic & shameful nonsense. We’re here to cheer you on! To encourage and remind you that it’s totally possible to unlearn the unnecessary shame that was handed to all of us since birth and that it’s okay to put down the thoughts, behaviors, coping mechanisms, and stories that no longer serve you.

It’s possible to heal and learn to be present with who we are in this very moment, even when we know there’s more work to be done. Wherever you are in your journey, you got this. We see you, and you’re killing it!✨

For someone who’s lived in so many places and travelled as much as I have (for context, I was born in Denmark, raised in the south of France, educated in London and Japan, so it’s already a LOT before even factoring in travel for funsies), home has always been a bit of a nebulous term —⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Is it where I was born? Is it where my wonderful parents live? Is it where my roots run deepest or, perhaps, where I currently reside with my love? Is it where my closest friends are — the ones that feel like family?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Each of the above, in isolation, feels limiting — home is all of the above, all at the same time. There is no One Place. And when I look inside my heart, the answer becomes even clearer:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Home is where I feel good, where I feel free; where the people I love, and who make me feel loved, dwell; it’s where life feels joyous and expansive and limitless, where I can experience both comfort and growth, where the familiar and the unfamiliar come together to challenge and delight; where I can rest my bones and feel deep peace before waking up, wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready for the next adventure. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Home, then, is London, with my love. ⁣⁣
It’s Cardiff, with my mother and rambunctious extended family. ⁣⁣
It’s the south of France, with my father, my many, many memories and the ghosts of identities past. ⁣⁣

The truth is that we won’t always know the full story as to why some people don’t choose us.
.
We can hear the story they tell us - but they may not even fully know why they chose to close the door themselves.
And we can get into deep trouble when we begin to personalize endings that actually have nothing to do with us at all.
We may be a terrible attachment pairing. 
We may have had completely different life visions that the other “just happened” to see more clearly first.
We may be a subtle reminder of something they aren’t ready or willing to deal with.

.
This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t do any self-reflection work when someone ends things with us.
.
We must.
.
We must pay attention to patterns and assess if we are always the common denominator.
.
We must be willing to learn and refine and implement healthier behaviors if we continue to push everyone away.
We must do the necessary grieving and inner child work to un-clog ourselves from our past in order to make space for new possibilities.
.
.
And if we are genuinely doing (both) of these things, then we have to eventually surrender to the fact that not everyone is meant for us. Not everyone can handle our flaws or will want to. Some people may be too triggered by us and that has to be okay even when it hurts. That is what dating and assessing compatibility Is all about.

Our work is to not personalize another’s refusal to choose us. Our work is to take in feedback that is helpful to our growth and apply it.
.
Our work is to discern between what is our to own vs. what has nothing to do with us. Our work is to still choose to grow and want to be the best version of ourselves while we simultaneously accept that we will always have limitations and flaws. Our work is knowing that the right partner for us will fully choose to embrace those parts of us even when it’s terrifying and hard for them to do.

  • Some Sunday Sizzles because Iy am so happy and grateful for: palindromes, impromptu dance festivals, beautiful Spring weather, having my home feel like a sanctuary, warm bagels, that love will always let me be free, ease of conversation with my Russian, "my God I have missed you", using tupperware for hosiery, messenger bags for work, letting the world see me shine always, that all I need is love, the smell of fresh popped popcorn, praticing French through FB Messenger, that every day is the best day ever, giving myself permission to prioritize the things that bring me joy/creativity/connection, watching WWE Money in the Bank with friendly wagers, loose fitting pants, having complete compassion, black cherry merlot hand wash, being a disco ball all the time, being a badass bitch, that I only let the good stuff through and the bad stuff bounce off me, to remember to listen to others, roasting beets, natural supplements to make my health thrive, having the opportunity to experience the hatching of baby chickens and roosters, my new copper desk fan, new 3 way light bulbs, for taking a break when needed, speaking my emotions more, realizing that my mileage will vary when it comes to prescriptions, fresh Spring breezes through my hair, seeing my Russian hard at work, choosing to not be reactionary to cunty people, chicken soup, blueberries, focusing on bliss, rain on my window, that the universe knows when to care for itself and gives itself what it needs (like rain), quotes from Winnie the Pooh that resonate, not letting little failures get me down, turtles, Magnetismo for the month of May, for giving myself permission to decompress as soon as I get home from work, for relaxation, for taking time for myself, for the largess of the spring, that I am doing it right, that I do not need to feel "worthy" of what I want in order to manifest it -- just keep saying it and believing it, that being human means being imperfect, anonymous cheesy pick up lines, that there is nothing so stable as change, freshly shaved legs right out of the showe, vending machines, rain to bring the rainbows, the song I Love Myself by Ciara. You can mad-lib in anything really; the point is what you allow to consume your thoughts will manifest as your life. And most of the time they shouldn’t even be allowed space in your head. I’ve been on a long journey of self acceptance and creating my definition of a “full life”. Learning to have body confidence and self-esteem things have been the hardest to get past. .
This quote helped me to journal out all of the things stopping me from enjoying life fully. .
Here are some of mine: I was not put on earth to...
- play it safe
- feel guilty
- make someone like me
- hide my flaws
- to earn a summer body
- to materially present myself - to always have my shit together

  • we all scream for ice cream 🍦 i spent this weekend in the emergency room; they thought they were going to have to remove my gallbladder (they didn’t, thank goddexxes, but we still don’t know what’s wrong because the testing i need next couldn’t be done there...) 😭 i’m too nauseous to take the percocet i was prescribed (even with the nausea meds i’m on); hopefully i feel better soon??? please keep me in your thoughts 💕💖💕 #fatshion #ootd #radicalselflove #chronicillness #lupus #queerfemme #femme4femme #chronicpain #lesbiansofig #lupuswarrior

  • Recovering people pleaser 🙋‍♀️. But each time I say yes to something I want to say no to just because I don't want to let someone down, I realize I'm saying no to me. And I'm also important! This is a skill I'm still working on but having the awareness to see that I'm causing my own pain when I'm trying to please others is not helping anyone. I haven't perfected this but I am working hard to stay in my truth and practice saying no. 🌻
